@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

I think it was the emeralds...

i kinda like the Sonic X thing where Mobius IS Earth and at the same time it ISNT, like it split apart after awhile

Good observation Ben. There is always a third option in an "either/or" choice, you just gotta be clever enough to write it.

 How'd you pull that off?

I would have a meteor hit the planet containing the emeralds, the energy creates a carbon copy of Earth and sends it to a different demension/part of the galaxy. Earth could have the Sol Emeralds for example and Mobius the Chaos Emeralds

That sounds familiar. In a bad way.

Actually that sounds like the Super Mario Bros Movie.

We are to never speak that name...the malevolent title tied to such an inglorious cinematic sewage-storm. They say if it is whispered with too much frequency it corrupts the minds of the guillable and easy to sway - and a sequal will rise from it's grave to wreak havoc on the filmic tastes of the living.  :ohno:

"Nuckles" and the Pender's characters. How would have you written the Echidna?

Damn, can't really get away from this one forever can't I? Well it's not like I hate the background of The Echidnas in Archie Sonic, I like it I really do but god damn is it complicated! I'd make it much more smoother, a lot less convoluted, and give it a lot of wiggle room so that stuff like Sonic Adventure 1's Story Arc can easily be intergraded into the mythos.

For one while the Brotherhood members are still relatives I think if most of them are like cousins, uncles, distant relatives it would make much more sense. Why do I say this? Because a few of their members must be pushing  70 -100 by now! The oldest member when he was still alive was Tobor, TOBOR, I mean the guy looked older then other characters but damn man Athair looked older then him and he was his great-something grandson! Have you guys really looked at Knuckles family tree lately? Now you maybe be saying "But did the Hyper Zone make their ages screwy or something?", Or something as that's not the case. From what I remember they can live for a long time do to exposure from the Emeralds for so long. Now I CAN buy an extended lifespan due to the Emeralds but that's really pushing it when it comes to them. The only way I can think of how it makes sense in the comic is that the guys in Knuckles family are really smooth and moves fast when young. The Family Tree here is a straight line when you look at if, if it was more branched out maybe it would be better and there would be a lot less confusion.

The Dark Legion I have no real problems with, granted the family tree there is (thankfully) MUCH shorter then Knux is but you could count that as due to time moving (and actually confirmed to be) screwy and slower in the Twilight Cage. Yeah I got no problems with it there, I do wonder why all the women Echidna have there names like Jani-Ca or something-lu but maybe you guys know about that. As for The Nocturnus since they have yet to appear in the main storyline I'm sure they will be fine, I know the Archie Sonic Team WON'T make the same mistake Penders did by over complicating it. Though it does make you wonder why the Dark Legion and Nocturnus never did anything together...then again both sides have their own goals.

How would I work the Knuckles Clan in? I'd probably either have them where they are now in the timeline OR have them during the time before the Brotherhood and Legion. You know so that after Perfect Chaos is sealed some Albion Echidnas go to discover the Knuckles Clan Ruins and find the Emeralds, thus kick starting everything from there on out, from Enerjak to the Brotherhood.

I think I just made things much more simpler with those concepts alone, say what you will about the "Reboot" but the Ian and Co. can REALLY fix things up when it comes to the background of the Echidna Race, and to be honest it's been LONG overdue. Penders had some good ideas, I'll give the man credit, but he didn't exactly plan EVERYTHING in the backstory, neither did he give it some wiggle room should future Sonic Games dive into Knuckles' Backstory. So naturally things didn't pan out so well in the end and later Knuckles Plots due to the Comic's Cancellation were cut much shorter then he originally planned. If I could give comic writers one hint of advice it would be this, PLAN EVERYTHING, especially backup plans for backup plans! But for it's time it was really interesting and I'll say this, Penders' concepts for the Echidnas is pretty out there when looking at the genesis games but it worked at the time and shaped how a lot of us view the Echidnas as we do now. The biggest influence I'd say the Archie Comic had with this background was the game Sonic Chronicles, what other games will take influence from the comic as well is uncertain, but it's an interesting though.

I guess this brings us to another broader question.

You have been tasked with rewriting the whole origin of Mobius. What do you do? Go.

I dunno, I've always loved postmodern science fiction, especially ones that put our present modern era as either some "bygone age" or completely forgotten all together. So, I personally like the idea of Mobius being a future, post apocalyptic Earth.

One of the main reasons that I see it as a future Earth is the anthropomorphic Furries themselves. We have: hedgehogs, foxes, enchiladas, squirrels, rabbits, wolves, coyotes, walruses, and an assortment of other creatures that we have on Earth.

For me I'd write it as such, but focus more on the rise of the animals than the fall of mankind.

Anthromorphic what now?  :hmmph:

Them chaos emeralds...they be crazy!

Let's deal with some writer specific characters and their depiction through out the comic.

Let's start with...

*Spins a wheel*

Knuckles.

Opinions?

Not as gullable

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Hmm, well when it comes to Archie Sonic and STC there's not too much I would change, the way Knuckles was handled was pretty damn good to perfect really from what I can recall, if anything the only thing that has to be changed about Knuckles is his Species Background in Archie Sonic as it's WAY PAST complicated. Though in the Archie Comic there are some inconsistencies but if anything I'd have him be more consistent in earlier issues. When it comes to the games MUCH more serious but with some funny moments, like in SA1, SA2, and Heroes. I just REALLY don't like how weak and more comedic he was made in Sonic X and some following games afterwards, there is such a thing as being too comedic. Other then him being more ironed out in the Games in other medias he's pretty fine the way he is. Love how Ian writes Knuckles though, his speech against Finitevus at the end of that Sonic Universe was powerful.

Jules and Bernie were handled pretty well, though I do wish they were out there doing something in later issues instead of just sitting around New Mobotropolis. I mean you would think Sonic's Folks would be doing what they can but no not really, I guess I can somewhat understand but what exactly do they do now other then be Sonic's Moral Support? Other then that no other complaints.

So, a woman who joins an army during war time and shoots a guy in the face counts as a '50s house wife? Sure why not. I mean those two are really badass, hell Jules stood up against his Son's Doppelganger from Another Zone, it makes you wonder why either of them weren't considered for the Secret Freedom Fighters, or the Council for that matter.

That also depends on if you look at being a housewife as negative.  Consider that for the longest time most Mobians homes are makeshift shelters in either Knothole or New Mobotropolis (Pre Nanites).  It wasn't until Sonic got back from Space did New Mobotropolis start looking like a real city.  Bernie managed to not only take care of the house, but actually make it a house.  That's pretty darned impressive.

Also I assumed she also worked at Chuck's Diner (seeing as both Bernie and Jules were there when Chuck was traveling Mobius with the King and Queen).  Since that's like the only food place worth going to, they're probably pretty busy.  I don't think she's a stay at home type of lady.

Making a house and working at Chuck's Diner, yeah I'm fine with that. Though I do wonder if they could do something on the side like what Chuck does, the guy has 3 different jobs mind you (The Diner, The Council, and The Secret FFers). Maybe Burnie could be a Navigator and Jules teach Tactics or something, I dunno but if that's what they do in their spare time then sure.

Also I'd like to note my favorite scene with them where they tell Naugus off when he tries to make a pact with Jules, THAT was badass!
