I'm in the opposite boat of LogiTeeka. I think establishing Mobius as Future Earth takes away from the story. If Mobius is Future Earth, than Mobius is Limited to Earth Physics/Sciences/etc. If Mobius is it's own world, Mobius is free to have things that wouldn't work on Earth work, without resorting to it being "Because of the Chaos Emeralds" or "Because of the Master Emerald" or the like.
I wasn't suggesting it to be introduced immediately, I was thinking along the lines of gradually introducing it. Kinda like in "Adventure Time", where it gradually reveals the Land of Ooo's origin through a series of hints and flashbacks of the mysterious Mushroom War (a nuclear war).
From what I can tell, the physics of Mobius aren't that different than Earth's (gravity acts the same, light exists, ect.). The only difference is that the world harbors many bizarre natural anomalies (odd landscapes, super-powered sentient animals, goofy-looking humans, ect.). I mean, the characters can do incredible feats that are nearly impossible in real-life, but so can the heroes of DC and Marvel; even though they live on Earth as well. And considering animals already posses incredible skills which humans lack, imagine how powerful they'll become through future evolution.
i kinda like the Sonic X thing where Mobius IS Earth and at the same time it ISNT, like it split apart after awhile
Funny, that's eerily similar to Mobius' backstory in Fleetway's STC. I wonder if the creators were influenced by this, or if it's just a coincidence.
If that's the case, I sometimes wonder just what that cataclysm was that split the "Sonic X" Mobius from Earth's timeline. The Chaos Emeralds perhaps?
