When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Hey folks. I'm Storm Spotter. Old fan of SatAM, and a bit of a lurker here on the boards. I think this is really my first post outside of of the validation forum...

Anyway, when the SatAM bug hits me, I get double nostalgia. First off, I always flash back to those long-past Saturday Mornings, waking up bright and early to catch yet another episide of my favorite Sonic show (I also semi-religiously watched AoStH).

But, I also flash back to the late nineties/early millenials. Back then Archie Sonic still somewhat resembled my childhood memories, the Dreamcast was still a thing worth buying, and I was eagerly awaiting a reply from TheSonicFoundation, a popular, active, and lively web forum (back when web forums were popular, active, and lively.) To bide my time, I'd peruse the collections of fanfiction that was available on TSF, TeamArtail, and Fanfiction.net (you know... back when FF.net was relevant.) My younger self was amazed that somewhere out there were multitudes of other fans just like me. Ones that loved and cherished the struggle and adventure of the Freedom Fighters, especially at a time when the first signs of the fandom clash were becoming apparent to me.

I digress. The point I would like to get to is that I would like you guys to help take me back to that sentimental place. If you guys have any good recommendations for SatAM Fanfiction (preferrably from outside the board, since linking to our own fanfiction forum would be a bit redundant,) please leave them here. Heck, it might just be good to keep an archive of noteworthy fanfics just for future reference.

Thanks in advance.

((Edit: in one of those silly hindsight moments, I just realized that this thread would probably be better off in the Creative Corner. Whoops. Would one of the mods or admins please be so kind as to bump this thread over to a more appropriate location, if so inclined?))

If you haven't read Sea3on, which is hosted on this site, start with that. In my eyes, at least, it's the definitive continuation of the series.

Beyond that, I recommend pretty much anything by Gojira007 (author of said comic) and FreedomFighter4, though I haven't read all of the latter's stories yet.

Gojira's pieces tend to be broader in scale, covering the war between the Freedom Fighters and Robotnik while still focusing heavily on character exploration. His work, though emotionally intense, is no more graphic than what was seen in the show.

Freedom's pieces tend to be even more character driven, with less focus on external conflict and minimal action. As a word of warning, her work definitely skews more toward the adult side of things. Nothing too graphic or explicit (again, based off what I've read so far; I haven't read her darker material yet), but a lot of it definitely falls under PG-13 or even R territory.

Both are surpremely talented writers whose work is consistently captivating and moving, using SatAM as a foundation and expanding upon its characters and world in incredible ways. Sally in particular is simply unparallaled under either pen.

Thank you for your input. I am, of course, reading through Sea3on, and I have recommended it to all of my fellow SatAM fans who weren't aware of its existance. Hopefully, we'll soon get to see the teaser animation that was revealed at Comic Con.

Incidentally, one of the fanfictions that I had come across in the past was one of Gojira's works, "Worth Fighting For." Unfortunately, outside of Sea3on itself, it's the only piece I've read by him. I have not yet read any of the works of FreedomFighter4, so thanks again for the recommendation. I'll have to go on an archive binge on a later date.

On that note, I should probably help add to my own list by showing a few of the fanfictions I myself have read.

Though many of the fanfictions from TSF and Artail have come and gone with the downfall of those sites, a few of the older fanfiction archives have persevered. Some of my earliest experiences came through Dan Drazen's archive. Though not strictly SatAM fics, as they do borrow from the Archie comics, I find them throught-provoking, mature, and true to the spirit of SatAM.

Drazen's own works:

(Warning: As this is an older do-it-yourself website, the colors are a bit intense. Also, there's quite a few references to the infamous Ken Penders, but this was back in the 90's, before legal issues and all the related kerfluffle came to a head)

Works by other authors were also archived on the site:

Most interesting to me was a work by Matt Page/ Fallout called "Selective Amnesia." It was... sort of a guilty pleasure of mine since it was a very blatant SonSal fic.

I would recommend Dan Drazen's fanfics too, I especially like his Sonic kids stories.
