Purple cracks in the ground, Sonic going feral, and Uncle Chuck, Muttski, and Antoine going to Spagonia to study samples of the Earthquake? If this isn't any indication of an Unleashed sequel Adaption, I don't know what is!

Sonic started going Feral after inhaling purple gas from Uncle Chuck's machine that was stored with energy taken from the cracks in the Earth.

I think they're building this adaption up until sometime after issue 257.

A part of me loves the concept of Mobian Ferality (I deal with the issue in EoT quite a bit). I found the werehog as silly, but I have high hopes that this could be different. I love the thematic depths you can explore in lycanthropy, body-horror, and various forms of physical transformation. Your character and become a physiogmatic symbol of his own internal character and that can be powerful (Darth Vader/Lord Sidious anyone?). If Flynn can externalize all the egoism, and personal dark desires (like cracking Eggman) Sonic supresses because of his own moral self-limitations you could see something awesome. Just get rid of the goofy stretching arms and make the transformation a bit more gradual but building in momentum as our villans dig fingers in psychological wounds, then we could very well see the one bad day Scourge warned Sonic about...
Right now though I need to catch up on the comic. ![]()

It should be interesting to find out who or what it is that is causing this "chaos" now that it is affecting characters.
*EDIT*

Figures that in the middle of all this upheaval they would decide to adapt my least favorite storyline from the games. Might as well throw in Chip, the one Sonic character I despise even more than Amy, while they're at it.

That's it! The change is because they made this images first!

Exactly. The 3D characters are great. I think they were the source of the design.

I have one question. Was the mecha Sally Arc first or was the decision to make the design change first?
A petition to keep up to a third of the characters in the sonic comics from being lost forever.

To those who want to give this "new direction" a chance, don't say I didn't warn you.
