I think it's quite obvious. I mean, every character/story Penders created for the comics are no longer available, right? This includes the story introducing us to the organic version of Fiona Fox, a character based after the robot which Gallagher introduced.
He didn't create the idea of the character, but the same can be said for Scourge, the Suppression Squad, and Robo-Robotnik (who were based off Sonic, the Freedom Fighters, and Robotnik respectively); and yet, he laid claim on those characters too. Thus, it's logical to conclude that the organic Fiona (which the robot was modeled after) is now under his list if claims.
Fiona is not a Penders character.
Last word about Fiona Fox.
Unlike Evil Sonic and Robo-Robotnik, I never considered her mine. I didn't create the name, nor was I responsible for the visual, neither of which was changed or altered in any manner whatsoever whether she was a robot or the lifeform she was based on. One was an EXACT doppelganger of the other.
Nor is Athair mine. He belongs to Mike Gallagher. If I needed to use the character, I would make arrangements with Mike and they would be so publicly acknowledged. (This would also apply if I had reason to use Fiona, but I've already enough to deal with without adding on that complication.)
So hopefully I've cleared that point up and we're all on the same page.

Also, is it just me, or does he look like a distant relative to Dr. Wily?

"Everyone creates the thing that they dread. Men of peace create engines of war. Invaders create Avengers. People create... smaller people...? CHILDREN! (chuckles) Lost the word there..."

It still annoys me that they can't have family ties with the Sega Sonic cast..... ![]()

It's a sacrifice, for sure, but it could still work. Even without the family ties.It still annoys me that they can't have family ties with the Sega Sonic cast.....
I mean, Uncle Chuck and Snively have more to their characters than just "Sonic's uncle" and "Robotnik's nephew". Chuck is also a doctor/inventor, the creator of the Roboticizer (which will most likely become important later on), and a grandfather-figure to the Freedom Fighters. And Snively is still devious and diabolical enough to remain an interesting villain without any outward relations to the Robotnik family.
Edit: Also, it appears that Snively is an IPad user.

I do like that they did give a nod to satam's robotnik by giving snivley the Julian name plus I like this overall design ![]()

Okay. I'm alright with some of the Sega mandates surrounding the comic; like Sonic not being in a relationship or crying (stuff which contradict his character). But stuff like no-family and never aging really drive me up the wall. How do you expect to develop a character if there's little to nothing to develop?
One common excuse people give is that Sega wishes the comics not to deviate from the official canon. Well, that's fine and all... If they ever cared to give the franchise any development! I mean, will they ever explore the backgrounds to the main cast and give them families? I doubt it. So why leave it that way if they're not gonna do anything with it? This isn't "Super Mario Bros.", where most of its cast of characters are as generic as the premise... it's "Sonic the Hedgehog", a series which thrives on personality and development. Do something already!
Also, the anti-aging thing... Sega just recently established Classic Sonic as the younger version of the Modern depiction in "Generations", now they're expecting us to think Sonic has never aged? What are they thinking?

In other news love the recent issues, the new Sonic World is shaping up to be quite a nice comic. ![]()
As for those mandates, I honestly don't get them either. Maybe the whole family thing sorta (bright side is Rosemary got erased, stupid council), but now they can't age? That's gonna be strange to say the least, they really should give them some slack and let the characters age and such, I'd also be all for a family for the Sega Cast but I guess that's how it's gonna be for now. I mean characters CAN grow and develop within a short span of time, but without the passage of time it makes it jilted. But I'm not going to let that ruin the comic for me and just hope some of these mandates can be removed in the future.

As did I ![]()
{edit: I hope Archie will reprint Sonic Origins in a super special, or at least make it available thru the app.
BTW, I kinda like Snively's new look, especially the mustache.}

By never establishing the characters aging they never have to say Sonic and Co become too old to act the way they're supposed to, teenaged.
Also while Sonic can't age, they never said he couldn't have a history of things he did when he was young.
The relationship thing is still total bullsh*butterscotch*
