Well, Sonic Super Special Magazine #9 just released today. Here is an article straight from the magazine, straight from the preview (for those wondering, it does not have a timeline).

Really?  Because heaven forbid anything happen to Sally that isn't "she comes out perfectly okay without any problems everytime".  

 

I don't mean to be rude, but whenever Archie does anything remotely interesting with Sally, we tend to assume it'll be bad, and never give them any slack. In my personal opinion, I'd like to see Sally adapted to the new world as much as everyone else is.  

 

Also Something More doesn't usually mean something bad.  So....what are you worried about?

Probably due to Archie screwing the character for an unprecedented two and a half years, going on three; we're just pure tired of it and they need to stop it and do something different with the character if just for a little bit.

 

But that's the problem.  They tried killing her (dumb I know) and that angered fans, so they brought her back.  They tried causing Sonic and Sally to drift apart due to them being unable to interact as often, fans raged so they brought 'em back together.  They tried giving Sally faults by having the whole slap go down (again bad move) but fans again raged so they eventually had Sally go back to normal.  They wanted to cause some drama without Sally doing something "out of character" so they had her Robotized, and still that made fans mad so they had to fix it, plus all the Penders crap so it was retconned out.  

 

Everytime they try something new fans get mad.  I can totally see why the SEGAfans all think she's a Mary-Sue because most of the time Sally isn't allowed to make mistakes, have things happen to her, or do anything too risky or fans will get angry, so Archie doesn't try them.  Why did Sally stay on the sidelines for so long?  Because Archie didn't know what to do with her without angering fans.  

 

Now once again they potentially might be trying something new with her, and fans are already attacking it as it's a bad thing because they've bothered to try at all.  We don't even know IF there is a change yet.  For all we know the teaser is just pulling our legs.  

 

Yes you can be worried, rightly so because of the past attempts, but dang it, give them a chance to TRY new things without assuming it's going to be bad.

It's not the character or the fans' fault for bad writing of the character; "the slap" or trying to kill her wasn't them trying something new with the character; it was to accommodate Sega's edicts, and they didn't do a good job of it. The whole Mecha Sally thing was way too long and if you would have done it to any other main character, say Amy or Tails, that is if Sega would let it happen in the first place (NOT!) you'd see the same outcry from their fans as well.

I and many other fans are not "mad" and immediately getting defensive as you say, you are projecting what you think is happening on the fans of the character. We're just tired of them screwing the character over for three years, and you would be too if it happened to a character you liked. Heck, even right now in my fan fiction I have Sally almost mauled to death and might not survive, and that's coming from a big fan of the character. I have no problem with bad things happening to Sally, but they need to do it right and that means not taking the character away for three years.

• -The Freedom Fighter Redesign section states that Sally has a "secret weapon" in her gloves.
• -They explicitly point out that Rotor has traded in his gut for some pecs and that he is a "battle mechanic"
• -Nicole's lynx form is now supported by a ring as a temporary battery.
• -Bunnie has her old arsenal, but it may or may not run off her life force
• -Antione wore the old uniform at some point but switched it for his new attire because it's the new standard for soldiers of the Acorn Kingdom. Also his hair is natural.
• -Freedom HQ doesn't exist anymore. The Sky Patrol has taken its place.
• -The Egg Army are a group of cyberized Egg soldiers that answer to the Egg Boss. When back up is needed they call in the Badnik horde that is commanded by one super badnik.
• -Black Death, a new villian, was created by Black Doom to finish harvesting worlds. He is there last leader.
• -Eclipse the Darkling, a new villian that will be introduced in the "Shadow Fall" arc, was created to counter Shadow in every way and a unique version of Black Arms. He may be connected to something called the Dark Arms.

I agree. From hearing the first one, I can guess that Sally might still have her metal blades.
