I'm glad Ian Flynn kept Bunny and Antoine together; he's doing the best he can under the circumstances. In my book I only wished he had shortened the Mecha Sally arc; 2 1/2 years was just too long. Other than that if you look at it objectively he has done a lot to repair the damage Bollers and Penders did. I'm really hoping that he is using this reset to kind of clean away many of the scars left from their tenure.

I believe this is the general Archie discussion thread based on the title...? I'll just have to run with it for now.
First: wow. This world is radically shaping up to be, well, interesting. We basically have Bioshock Infinite levels of craziness with dimension hopping going on, as everyone tries to reconcile old memories and new. The best part is that we now know that what was true in the old world might not be anymore; I wouldn't be surprised if we see some villains be good now or vice versa.

You know Ant and Bunnie are staying together, look at Bunnie's robotic hand , and you'll see her wedding ring

Well I'm glad Ant's keeping the courage he developed over the comics' history at least. I think he's a much better character that way, myself. I like how he matured from this cowardly, snobby (and stereotypical) guy to a brave, respectful person fitting of someone from a military background.
BioShock InfiniteSpoiler
That's some interesting imagery, to say the least.

So, it turns out that the Archie comics can't establish family members for the SEGA characters anymore. However, there may be some exceptions:
1.Vanilla Rabbit: SEGA character
2. Uncle Chuck: in his description in the yellow box in Issue 254, it says "Uncle to many." This could mean that Uncle Chuck is not Sonic's Uncle anymore, or Ian is just covering it up and Chuck is still Sonic's Uncle.
3. Mighty and his sister: Mighty is no longer relevant to the SEGA franchise, therefore, there might still be a chance of keeping Matilda in the comic as Mighty's sis.

It makes sense seeing how many character were created by Penders that had family ties to established Sega characters.
This will create a lot of questions in and of itself: what about Manic and Sonia (from Underground), I've been interested in seeing the rumoured ending to the series. Also, what about other family characters that have been already created that weren't created by Penders? I really hope this doesn't take away characters that weren't in question that are family members; Amadeus and Rosemary I don't think were Penders characters, do they now not exist? So now did Tails just pop out of the ground? Or just is he an orphan again?
In my book this is a BIG minus for the comic.

It's not like there are many family figures for the SEGA cast that they can use anyway.

While Penders is given the blame on a lot of this, I think SEGA also did some sort of forced trade with Archie; Archie would get more liberties with characters like the Black Arms but would have to also give up a lot of comic-exclusive characters to do so, whether they are Penders' in origin or not.
Uncle Chuck is nowhere close to being an invention of Penders (as I'm pretty positive everyone here knows), but it looks like he's been removed from an exclusive uncle status in favor of being nicknamed "uncle" rather than being a biological uncle.
Really it's stuff like this that makes me appreciate Sea3on and Sonic the Comic Online more by the day. Neither of them has to deal with this legal nonsense, or SEGA watching over its stories like some predatory hawk. It shows, too; STCO has its fair share of stories I'm pretty positive SEGA wouldn't have allowed, and while I've only just finished Chapter 1 of Sea3on, I'm certain as I read more there will be some element here or there that SEGA would be a control freak over.

I'm with you, Sea3on seems to be where us SatAM fans will have to go for our fix.
I really don't know if they're doing away with Chuck's biological Uncle status with Sonic. Even in SatAM every character referred to him as "Uncle" from Sally to Antoine, Rotor, Bunny, and Tails; like I said, I think his status hasn't changed.
I only worry that this will create a divide between Sonic Game characters and SatAM/Archie characters. The comic characters can still marry, have children, and suffer the loss of family members unlike apparently the Sega game cast. In my opinion it's going to cause a rift between the two, so Ian Flynn will have a lot of balancing to do. I foresee Ian focusing more on the comic cast and having the Sega characters assist/save the day.

They'd go ballistic over the first interlude story.

That's for sure! I wonder if Sega is aware of Sea3on? And if they are what do they think of it? Personally I like the artistic direction over almost all of the Archie ones; FUS has some damn good artists aboard!
