Archie Sonic: Satam Redesigns

"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

Somewhere a perverted furry is crying.
LOL Probably. But hey, some perverts like small boobs too.
Are you refering to the variant cover or both? We already know the varient cover sucks, so why continue to complain about it?
Also, what's wrong with them having gloves? Most Sonic characters are modeled after classic cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Woody Woodpecker; so it makes sense as a homage.
I only just saw the cover, so I'm not really 'continuing to complain' about it...I've only just started complaining, you see. ![]()
I don't mind Sonic and Tails having gloves but when the entire cast wears them it gets a little absurd.
And sorry Prime, I didn't meant to like, come into a topic that was ABOUT character redesigns and um yeah... actually SAY SOMETHING about them. My bad, man. ![]()

He's not dissing your opinion.

"Everyone creates the thing that they dread. Men of peace create engines of war. Invaders create Avengers. People create... smaller people...? CHILDREN! (chuckles) Lost the word there..."

Dunno why you're sayin sorry to me Ali as it was LogiTeeka who mentioning the whole thing about everyone repeatedly complaining about the character redesigns and the variant cover. Me? I was just pointing out it's the internet and everyone always complains about crap on the internet. And these redesigns are a major source of butthurt with some people on this forum because they won't stop whining about them not just here, but everywhere they can post about them. However, I didn't mean you.
This topic is about the redesigns and if you think they are terrible, then let it be known, because I agree, the gloves on everyone is a bit pants of head retarded.

Fuck, those new designs look like ass. WTF. Why do they ALL have to wear gloves? It's bad enough Sonic and Tails wear the fugly things, but now the whole cast has to.
It's like the Hard Hats from The G1 Transformers Cartoon: People wear them everywhere for no purpose.
A hard hat is the primary means by which all humans cover their heads. They are either considered highly fashionable, or else required to be worn by international law. Humans not only wear hardhats in typical situations such as oil rigs or ruby crystal mines, but also during a variety of other endeavors such as:Robbing a bankDriving a tractor trailerReading meters at a hydroelectric plantDesigning doomsday weaponsGoing to a museum. The versatility of the hard hat in fact seems limitless. Even Transformers wear hard hats.
In the comics up to this point, everyone kinda had their own style. Some characters had gloves, some didn't. There are also times where some characters who normally didn't wear gloves, wore some because the situation demanded it (or because it makes them look fancy). Suddenly switching it so everybody wears gloves all the time takes away the purpose, it's not a fashion statement, it's not practical, it's just there.
Now in all honesty, I couldn't care less about the gloves as long as they don't look awkward. So far nobody's gloves look awkward.

especially when you've constantly said in the past that "the Sonic fandom is filled with autistics!"
The irony is he is exactly the sort of person he must have in mind when he says things like that.

Alright, teasing is fine, but picking on someone is not. Let's stop here before somebody gets hurt.

Oh man, all of this hate on the redesigns...I get it, really I do, but I don't see a reason to complain about them. Most of them aren't THAT big of a change but for most (pretty much everyone) they are, I do have my own views on them but nothing really negative.
Rotor: This one technically doesn't have the biggest changes for the guy, rather his change of appearance is a style change more then anything else. He looks more like he could be a power character in the Sonic Games and I'm all for it, at the same time he also looks more like how he did when SatAM and the comic started, if anything his design is more of a throwback. Pretty obvious looking that his back is okay now, it's cool with me, the Iron Suit was okay but really it's not like Team Freedom is gonna be missed.
Bunnie: Other then a ponytail and some purple paint on her robot limbs, like Rotor she's about as close to her original design as possible, especially her color scheme which looks more like her SatAM look, I'm not sure if anyone has complained about her new design but I see no point to it as she pretty much looks like she did during the old days. I do like those purple touches, they're nice.
Antoine: Is it just me or is anyone else getting some Other M vibes here?
Not that I don't mind that is, though here is where we get to some more noticeable design changes, Ant got some new gloves and boots, they look nice and fit that gentleman look he's always had, I'd say he looks even more badass then ever before! But that's not what people are talking about, nope everyone misses the jacket. Look, as iconic as the jacket is it does not make the character, actions make the character. Something tells me Antoine is going to be a pretty damn cool character in this new Prime Zone.
Nicole: Her design change is more noticeable then the other characters (next to Sally in fact) but to me is not that big of a change, if anything her new look has a more battle ready feel then her dress ever did, nothing much else to note really, it's a nice design that has more of a virtual reality feel to it.
Sally: Finally we end with Princess Acorn herself, and I will say this her design is the biggest change out of all the Freedom Fighters. Not only does she have an outfit, but the Sega Style makes her look more different then any of the other characters. At the same time though she still looks like Sally, she has her color scheme and you can still tell it's the same character. But that's not what fans are complaining about the most, the main thing fans are complaining about are her cheeks and vest. I can understand the vest, but complaining about a characters cheeks is ever more stupid then the whole "green eyes" thing that happened a year ago! In fact, Sally's cheeks didn't start off fuzzy to begin with, if anything it sticks more to the earliest designs of the character from the show and comic, she didn't have those! Now the vest I completely get, she didn't start out with it, but it's the most well known thing about her, but is it just me or is Sally in this new design wearing some sort of vest there just zipped up? It seems like that to me, if that's the case then technically she DOES have her vest! I like the design personally, I have no real problem with it and while I can understand why some fans don't like she does still look like Sally to me. She looks new and old at the same time, which is not easy to pull off. It's not like Sally had a set in stone design when she started out anyway, anyone remember all those different color schemes? To me it's a welcome change that while she looks pretty different you can still tell it's her.
So to top off this post here, when looking at all the designs in depth...most of the characters don't look all that different! Rotor and Bunnie look more like their SatAM counterparts, Antoine minus the jacket and a new color scheme (sorta) still looks the same, with Nicole's outfit and Sally herself the only radical design changes that are noticeable. I know fans will still complain about them but I don't see why to hate, hell I don't know if anyone complained about Sonic's new design back in 98/99, my reaction to his SA was AWESOME. It's change, but it doesn't change who the characters really are, so I'm all for it and I can't wait to see what's gonna happen in the future. Besides, maybe one day we can get a Sonic Universe Story Arc where we see what would have happed had Eggman not fired that missile that changed everything. That could happen, you just never know.

I really like Rotor's design. He seems a lot cooler. He looks like a Sonic Riders type of character. I also have a feeling that Rotor will be using a lot of tech. He also seems to be a lot slimmer. It's like comparing Big the Cat and Storm the Albatross.
I like Antoine's too. Makes him a lot cooler. He losses the uniform and gains a sash. At least his design has soldier elements to it. By the way, is it me or does Antoine look like Cutlass from Dark Mobius?
NICHOLE's new design is better than her old one. Her dress reminds me of Blaze's.
Bunnie's is great! Her new robotic legs and arm look cool and her new look is really reminicent to her old one.
I didn't like Sally's that much at first, but when I saw the cover of Sonic Super Special Magazine #9 with Sally on the cover, I thought it looked pretty cool.

I can't wait to see Tracy Yardley's rendition of all of the redesigns for Countdown to Chaos. He is my favorite Archie Sonic Comic artist after all.

The redesigns are pretty cool for the most part. Although it is weird to see Antoine without his military uniform. Also, this also excavated some hypocrisy because people complain about females being while males aren't.

A Look At Sally's redesign. Maxximillian Acorn is King again, now sporting a "Sega Sonic" redesign.

Max's design isn't that bad; it's just gonna take some getting used to.
In fact, it's closer to his SatAM depiction than his original Archie design.

I've been waiting to see this debut for a while now, and I don't know. I mean it's alright, and I can get used to it. I just wish that Tracy Yardley would've done the artwork on this one... out of the all of the current pencilers he's my favourite.
I'm just glad to see Sal Gal back from her 2 1/2 years of purgatory.

So pretty much Max is the same as we've always known him then? ![]()
No real hate on the redesign, like Logi said he DOES look more like his SatAM incarnation. No real complaints on any of the redesigns, the only thing I find a bit odd is that Sally (and Max) look a little more younger then before, but that's just the Sega Style design more then anything else with them making characters more smoother. This does raise more questions such as where is Elias or if he even exists anymore (which I think he still does), I will be a little disappointed if some characters are gone for good but if that is the case I'll be expecting it. I do wonder what will happen to the other Secret Freedom Fighter members though, especially Shard.

Ben I like ya man but seriously mellow out, just give it a chance. I mean consider the possibilities here, such as we could one day see the old world as "another time, another place" something like in Sonic Universe (speaking of which dear god I am STILL waiting for my Sonic Underground Epilogue) or that we'll be seeing a lot of older character in later issues. That or we could see Proxy Characters that replace the ones Archie doesn't want to use anymore, but are basically the same characters somewhat (think Nameless and K9999 in King of Fighters as an example). If that's the case it will be interesting to see, not to mention that Archie is STILL republishing the older comics and that could mean we will see those characters again. I'm sorry you don't like them but really I don't know what else to really say. I mean I like them because they still keep the spirit of the characters while updating them a little bit, and even then most of the changes aren't all that different for most of the characters.

I wanna give it a chance but the classic side of me doesnt like it. I mean they had the same look for the past 20+ years and now they decide its time to change it. i understand they wanna keep it similar to the Games but look at Sally from the picture that was posted, it took me a moment to realize who it was. I wanna see the end of SU in the comics i wanna see the echidnas come back but the redesigns felt unneccisary at this point, if they wanna change the looks they should have done it awhile ago.
Sorry im the way i am im usually not, i'm overworked. 10-hour days plus an 1 1/2 drive to and from work has made me a bit hostile. I have a difficult time sleeping which makes things worse

Hey no problem man, I really do get it myself but while I do love the SatAM and like the Archie Comic a lot, I didn't really collect or watch every issue and show, I didn't even see SatAM until it was online and even then I started to really watch it when I got the Shout DVD Collection. I'm just really chill when it comes to stuff like this, dunno why but that's just me.
