@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Up close, I like the designs.

... The designs.

The artwork, however, is...  well, it's not BAD. It's just, awkward looking. I could see this style working for the artist's own characters, but it's a little off putting for the Sonic characters. And there's still a huge fan war going on because of the design changes, this is NOT going to help.

It's not just the freedom fighters, Sonic and Tails look off, too. Looks like the heads are a bit smaller in contrast to their bodies in the cover. Just look at these other covers, the larger heads help with the smaller bodies.

sth-254.pngsonic255wm-195x300.jpg

Not the best time to try throwing your own style in while fans are still just getting used to the new designs.

The redesigns to me are okay.  True, I know of those that may feel the're unnecessary to have.  But right now it's the era and time we're in.

I  mean look at Biker Mice 2006, character redesigns were there, but the characters pretty much remained who they were.

Now TMNT 2012, that's a bit a different story in itself, especially with April, cause I know that long-time fans didn't like the change to April, but understood why it was done, mostly because of the era and time we're in.  But didn't care for it, because this was not the April, that long-time fans have known and knew for the past 25-30 years.

So when it comes to the SatAM redesigns, some of us may not like them, but understand why they are happening, while others are fine with the redesigns, while others down right dislike them.  But again, era and time is why the redesigns are happening.

The timing of the crossover was terrible as well

No kidding...

Worse yet, it appears the whole Mecha Sally arc was never resolved either, just swept under the rug for this pathetic retcon Genesis wave crap.

Yea, how exactly was this story well written again? Oh wait...

It wasn't just the timing of the crossover, it was everything else that happened. The Penders lawsuit made things even worse. All the stories Ian had planned were either scrapped or altered heavily. As a result, the plots went nowhere and had little payoff.

Perfect shitstorm...

Issue 255's variant cover gives us a better look of their redesigns.

The art world is harsh. I work for a design firm and our design directors use it to critique our projects if it doesn't meet their standards.  Its a brutal way of motivating us to improve and I understand how that can be offensive.  Im just used to having that word thrown around frequently.

The more I look at it, the more I begin to hate Antoine's redesign.  I wonder what made them decide to get rid of his uniform?  It makes him look less French I guess.  I don't mind Bunnie's or Rotor's all that much as I previously said.  But I definitely agree with everyone else that this cover art isn't the best.  Antoine in particular looks extremely thin on it.

Yea, how exactly was this story well written again? Oh wait...

Normally I'd agree that I would like to see the solution, but considering how long it has gone on and stuff, I'm just gonna be happy it's over.

Eh, I suppose you have a point there. I'm glad it's over too, but this story was such a big waste of time. It promised the moon and gave us zippo in the end.

It in a sense is on par with Sonic Live in my book in being a complete waste.

Yea, I know the crossover and lawsuit threw a big wrench into things, so I know Ian is not completely to blame for this.

Still, even if this stuff didn't come into play, I seriously have to wonder if the climax would have been any good at all.

Maybe yes, maybe no. My guess would be no, and a big one at that.

Oh yea... I can't imagine the comic came out of this unscathed financially.

You know, that's a really shitty thing to say and good job of offending someone of the forum here. Yeah, that cover is pretty shitty looking, but it's just one cover and it's the variant cover, the guy isn't doing the art inside the issue. It's not like back in the early 2000s when Ron Lim was doodling complete shit in the pages. I think I'd rather have Tyler Capps artwork fill the issue then have Ron Lim back again.

Just because your design directors use it all the time and you hear it frequently, doesn't mean it's alright for you to use it yourself, especially when you've constantly said in the past that "the Sonic fandom is filled with autistics!". Surely if you believe your own claim on the Sonic fandom being filled with such people, then it would be a clear bet that by you saying that, it's highly likely someone is gonna take offensive. Annnnnd they did.

Unsurprisingly enough, he is really good at being that.

Are you refering to the variant cover or both? We already know the varient cover sucks, so why continue to complain about it?

Also, what's wrong with them having gloves? Most Sonic characters are modeled after classic cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Woody Woodpecker; so it makes sense as a homage.

Because this is the internet! Where else can people complain about things crappy variant covers, writers who write stuff we don't like while swearing we can totally do a better job than they are doing and redesigns of beloved characters? You tell me! TELL MEEEEEEE!

But seriously, it's because it's the Internet and this shit matters to somebody out there! And by God, they will make sure they complain hard enough that enough people will hear them!

Yeah, I know the internet is home to hundreds upon thousands of complainers; it's nothing new. Trying to stop that is like trying to stop a fire with a wall of straw hay. Good luck with that...

I was mainly refering to the forums. It just seems redundant seeing page after page of users saying the same thing over and over again with little differing opinion.
