So after the crossover with Mega Man, the Archie Sonic comic series will be dealing with some big changes. One of these changes involve the "rebirth" of the SatAM Freedom Fighters, with all new redesigns. Personally, I think they look pretty cool! What do you think of them?

"Everyone creates the thing that they dread. Men of peace create engines of war. Invaders create Avengers. People create... smaller people...? CHILDREN! (chuckles) Lost the word there..."

Personally I think they are okay. Not really an improvement but not really worse. I think it was unneeded but since it doesn't hurt them I don't care. At the same time it isn't benefiting them so I think it was a pointless change.

Considering most of their mythology is in question due to the lawsuit (plus a new wave of younger fans), Archie might as well restart and continue anew.

50/50. They improved Sally's design a lot from what we got at NYCC '12.

I'm interested in what they have planned.
I just got issue 251 today and thought it was pretty great. I can't even wait another month just to see what happens.

The Crossover has a few moments but the whole story was easily summarized in the first issue. Then it got stretched to what...12 issues? Sigh.

At least the crossover arc took its time developing the setup. I can't imagine how rushed it would've been had it all took place within a few issues. All the hype surrounding the story would've been for hardly anything.

Out of all the crossovers Sonic's been in before, this was by far the best. Not only did it meet expectations, but it told the story rather decently. Not perfect, mind you, but it was entertaining while it lasted.

The Sabrina Crossover wasn't bad but rather completely uncalled for. While it fit the goofy style of the older Archie Sonic, when it came out it, the comic had already moved to a more serious tone.
The other crossover will not be mentioned or acknowledged as it is really....REALLY bad.

The Sabrina one was "meh" at best. It was goofy, but it hardly contributed anything to the overall setup. Instead of employing the vast amount of villains she saw or anything else in the Sonic universe, Enchantra just captures Sonic and places him under her spell. Sally and Sabina save the day by negotiating with Enchantra, and in the end, everything is reset like nothing ever happened (sounds familiar... ).
But you're right on the Image Comics crossover. Yeesh! It was way too complicated to fallow, hardly made any sense, and was just a shameless promotion for Ken Penders' "The Lost Ones". And in the end, it resets to the way it started... again.
Too sum it all up, it was just a "big lipped alligator moment". To this day, they're both regarded as non-canon.

Sort of. The Sabrina one is actually canon in the Sabrina series as it's the sequel to another Sabrina Issue/story/whatever. So it's non-canon to Sonic but canon to Sabrina.

I honestly don't see the point of the character redesigns, but I don't feel the need to complain about them. The Mega Man crossover has had some interesting moments. I'm more concerned that Archie handles all the plot points such as Sally's fate and that of Naugus and Geoffrey that were left dangling in the air when the crossover first started.

I've been thinking about these redesigns and with Sally in particular I have always liked how she was a female character that wasn't just a 'token female.' I mean, you can't find many anthro female characters out there that can pull off all of the action she did and still be instantly recognized as a girl and not be dressed in pink or related colour, be herself pink or related colour (other than her brief earlier designs), or have a stupid bow put on her head to make sure you were aware of her gender; heck she even wears blue and still oozes femininity.
Anyway, I just hope that her personality and that 'air' about her doesn't get ruined by her redesign; that would be a shame.

Main points from Sonic Stadium's SDCC 2013 Interview with Ian, perhaps this will help answer some of your questions
From what I can tell from the interview Sonic Stadium did with Ian at SDCC 2013, is 1), That from he can say, the old countiy will still count, because why read over 250 issues to change that. 2), That there will be new heroes, new villains, new locations, new vehicles, just overall new stuff., 3), The redesigns was/is to bring the freedom fighters and other notable characters up to Sonic Standards, basically finally make them look like SONIC characters in a Sonic Book and getting them in line with the franchise. 4), As far as Scourge and Fiona go, you have to read the comics to find out their fate. 5), His goal is to do shorter arcs after Countdown that will have/give you more bang for your buck, but still lead to something bigger later on down the line. He also acknowledges that the fan's Main problem with The Mecha Sally Arc, was that even through some things were good, it was taking too long to get any point/payoff. So after Countdown, he wants to change that possible with (my opinion) 2 to 4 issues an arc at most, that have a good payoff/point, but still at the same time lead to something bigger down the line, possibly with anniversary issue like 275 or 300.
So despite how you feel about Ian Flynn, at least he has given us some idea as to what's to come and does acknowledge the Main Problem a LOT of fans had with Mecha Sally Arc, and no we're not talking about weaponization or her robotaztion before that.
So if you want to know more from the Horse's mouth himself, go to TheSonicStadium Youtube page and click on the Ian Flynn Interview.
Hope this helps that want to know what's going to happen after the crossover and 252.
God Bless

The crossover would have been acceptable if it were 4 issues, maybe 6 at the longest, but 12 issues so too friggin long and I think what hurts it more so is it's 12 issues over the course of 4 months, not as much time to invest in the idea and develop it proper. Might have worked better if the crossover was a seperate special, a maxi-series published 1 issue a month for a year.
"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia
