@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Hey Chief? It's interesting that you should talk about Kannagi, for there's been some controversy as of recent.

Apparently people on 2ch (a Japanese imageboard, the inspiration for 4chan I do believe) freaked out and started ripping up their copies of the manga and posted the carnage online, among other things, when they found out their 'oh so virgin tree goddess' had a boyfriend in the past, labeling her as a 'slut' and 'used goods'. It's quite pitiful. Rumour also has it that these events caused the manga author to go on hiatus because of an 'illness'. Coincidence?

Oh and I'll have a review of something posted sometime soon, just doing an information and image hunt.

So in the Manga the tree goddess is a slut? Correct me if I am wrong, I don't do Manga. I'll say this for the anime though.. She does seem to be after Jun..Even if its just a bit.

But where in the Manga's is she a slut? And the auther stopping... Something musta gone down eh?

Ah, I guess I should explain. They only call her that because the people on 2ch are lonely and pathetic slobs who want their maiden untouched. I don't think it's implied she ever had sex (just a boyfriend however long ago), but the fact that she even had an ex caused them to explode in a nerdy, disgusting frenzy.

So as far as I know, she wasn't promiscuous in the manga. (I guess it doesn't really matter anyway)

So she didn't have a boyfriend in the manga or Anime as of so far... but nerds want her to be un touched.. So.. after a rumour they exploded thinking that their "goddess" has been..erm.. touched by another...

Wow I am glad I'm not a retard.

KissXSis

So I have certain sources I go to to find out about new anime shows, and if they are good or not. These sources are normally pretty decent, so I tend to trust them when I read "Hey, new 2 episode Ova just came out, really good first episode, good animation, story line, and the voice actors are good".

HOWEVER when it comes to KissXSis my sources must have just snorted a few lines before watching it. What this show is is a classic case of wanting to be a comedy, weird romance, and a hentai all in one go. But you see its actually none of these. It could have been a great comedy and romance but.. All the panty shots, twin sisters kissing (none blood related brother..seems to be a popular trend) and god knows what else goes on kinda takes away the real funny part to it and replaces it with "ok... so its a hentai." But you would be wrong.
I would say "Hey ok so its like KoiKoi7 that I hated ever so much. But... Sadly in KoiKoi7 you had some nudity so you could class it almost more hentai.

Anyways, apparently a show like this is called a "Ecchi" Which in my opinion means Hentai for Christians. Or Lazy ass Hentai, Or the people who made it couldn't make their mind up what they wanted.. Whatever. It SUCKS!

It makes me sad cause this could have been such a good show... Honestly.. it had hope.. But NO!

I mean I was talking to Bleak when I was watching it and was giving him play by play detail on it..

That sums up the show quickly. And to those of you who read this and jerk yourself off to "Ecchi" and think that that it is your way of getting around saying "Oh man I'm not addicted to Hentai, I just like to watch Ecchi" You might have been able to fool me before with that! But now I know what Ecchi is... And I'm on to you!

There is still 1 more episode to come out.. And It'll be out next spring I think.. I will watch it but... Just to confirm my rant.

So as one of the shows come's to a end.. And its Christmas so...

EF ~A Tale of Melodies

Well.. I knew I would like this show, just like I did with its first season. And yes it did take some time to fully get into it but..Wow once I did... Just awesome! For those of you who have read into my last thing I said about EF ~A Tale of Melodies, I said that SHAFT loved their awesome special effects and yadda yadda. Episode 10... To be honest I did not like what they did. A B&W episode with some colour for drama etc.. I understand what they wanted to do but.. It was quite annoying and I went most of the episode going "I miss my colour...". And you may be thinking "But Chief you dumb Canuck! That was to add more drama to the last scene of that episode and it made me cry!" Well you can think that but I still think it was stupid to have a B&W episode. They made enough drama and shit with the rest of their mad animation skillz.

Ah well.. All in all good show. Only one episode made me slightly not like it but whatever. The last episode pieced together whatever loose ties were left in season 1, and completed season 2. So, far as I know the series is done since it was based on 2 games.

Go out, get the series, watch it, and like it.

And to all my readers.. Have a Merry Christmas!

Well, for those shows that are only in it for half the season (the 12 to 13 ep shows) their time is coming to a end...

CHAOS;HEAD

Well... This was a weird show. Kind of a "What is going on...?" then at the end everything makes sence. It was a good show when it started but started to piss me off near the middle.. Just the main character bitching and thinking everything is against him and yadda yadda.. But it turned out in the last 2 episodes I went "Ohhhhh that's why!"

So I would tell you all to watch it. Just when you get annoyed and confused.. stick with it.. It will all make sence. Now.. This show would sort of fit into a 'Serial Experiments Lain' of how it went... but yet not. It was quite original.. well.. Original from the show's I have watched. Sure it ends up some guy is the evil mastermind wanting to be god and it comes down to the main character who has no idea who he is to save the day...But.. It was still good and quite original about how they handled that situation.

Last comments...

Wasn't the best show...But wasn't the worst. I would say give it a watch.

Ga-rei Zero

....One of the best fight scenes EVER!

Well ok I loved this show. I mean.. It was just awesome. Now I mentioned on my first review of this that they killed off all the main characters in the first episode..It turns out they weren't main characters.. Or .. Really of much importance. Although I still loved that Motor Bike girl..

Anyways the is about exorcists and they go around killing demons and shit. Ok, this seems to be a rolling trend with some shows these days.. However.. This was definitely one of the better ones. Deals with a government group going around killing demons and shit. So cool..

Well.. The show kinda backtracked its self. Meaning the first 2 episodes take place then it jumps to a huge back story then I think in episode 9 it goes back to what was going on in the first 2. Which.. at first kinda sucks cause you know mostly what is going on at the time.. But they did leave some mystery. I mean.. Certain things that they implied in episode 2 of people dying, then when it gets to that point again something happens and they don't at the last second.

The last battle scene between the sisters..Now I say sisters loosely cause no blood relation.. But the last battle scene.. Just EPIC. It was just.. Emotional more then anything. Wasn't a stupid fight with lots of jumping around and people shooting fire from their asses. Had some flashbacks, eh.. Just bloody watch it. One of the best shows Ive seen. So get off your ass and watch it.

Now the show was apparently meant as a prequel to the manga series. So.. I'm going to assume whoever Kagura is partnered with in the "2 years later" thing at the end of the show is in the manga.

If you read the manga please comment.. I would love to know what you think of the manga and show. I'm not a manga person myself..

Another two shows end...

Kannagi

Now.. I did like Kannagi. It started off interesting, wasted some time in the middle, but in the end it all came together. It was a nice show and... I think their could be a second season, from how it ended. And I will be sure to watch it if their is. Their isn't really any action.. Just a good comedy/serious show. Its about a shrine god who comes to form from a carving made out of her tree.. Not sure why but thats how it starts. Although it sounds kinda messed it is a good show. A few episodes were kinda pointless in my opinion, but after you ge through those the story jumps back on track and explains a bit more.

The last episode almost explained the whole series, as well as a bit of why and how for a "before the show" kinda thing. Quite emotional, and causes you to think back on the series to understand things. And I like a show like that.
The interaction between all of the characters was well done, and in fact all of the characters play their rolls very well. Character design is a bit different from your main stream shows these days, but that added a sorta.. unique appeal that Kannagi offers, almost to say "Hey, we are different, and it works for us". The show doesn't have any of those typical "sexy ass shy anime girl" that a lot of shows offer these days, to sell to a crowd and all. They do have one character who is.. Cute, and flirts a lot but.. If you watch the show you understand who exactly she is and why. Which was quite good.

The show did offer its laughs, its moments of seriousness, and its moments of sadness. And.. From how it ended their better be a second season.

(just had to take a screen shot of this.. Rape? hehe... Ok you can hit me.. But I found it funny!)

And I will leave this quick note that comes with my last review on this show, when Bleak mentioned that some people were upset over "apparently" how Nagi the "virgin goddess" apparently had a boyfriend at one point. And how these people freaked out over it. Well I did some thinking as to "why would they do that?" And Ive come up with a answer.

The reason why they are freaking out so much is because they want to think in their perverted fucked up minds that when they jerk off to her picture at night that *they* and only they are taking her virginity. Cause hell! How dare that slut get touched before a sad fuck-tard with no life! How dare she!

And if you are one of these people who are reading this and go "Hey! Chief doesn't understand! He can't judge us for that!" Well.. I CAN judge you for that, and I just did!. But Feel free to discuss on how sad and pathetic your life is that you are upset because your favorite god who you jerk off to has been touched. Just send me a email at Chief_FUS (at) hotmail (dot) com.

Oh here.. this should make you guys feel even better! Oh and I just find this scene funny and laughed my ass off:

And that is also why I think there will be a second season.. Cause hey thats the end. Oh and... "OMG Nagi is being touched! I will now hate everything!!" hehehehe.. Bloody pathetic eh?

Next on the list!

Akane iro ni Somaru Saka

I'm not sure where to start on this one.. I'm serious.. It is just..UGH!

Ok so when I started watching this show I liked it. It was a fun comedy, a bit far fetched in some areas like.. I dunno.. Talking to a bear..
Posted Image

But whatever all in all the show was going good. I liked it.. Nice Romance Comedy, despite the odd situations it was good. Interesting group of characters, and they all played their parts and interacted quite well. The style of animation was good, not unique like Kannagi, but it was still not a copy and paste like a lot of main stream stuff. So I liked it. Even the story line was fairly good.. Again Romance comedy.
Short plot line.. Girl comes to live with guy and guy's sister cause she is suppose to marry him. Life continues, funny, guy and girl pretend to hate eachother but really you can see they like each other. Uhm.. Sister can do anything pretty much from cooking to cleaning to talking to bears..?

But whatever good story.. Or so I thought. In the last few episodes guy hooks up with girl who he is suppose to marry and I'm thinking ok cool.. Kinda expected this..they hate each other but really they were just not wanting to give in.. cool. Or so I thought..

So all is going well then bam! Shit goes down with his sister! Yeah.. WTF? Now not really much goes down but.. She leans on him.. tense romantic situation? Or something like that.. Whatever.

Now in the last episode he has to choose between.. You know the girl who isn't his sister or.. his sister.

Posted Image

Well...

Posted Image

Yep... He chose his sister.... I mean... Oh god! I wasn't aware Japan was taking lessons from the South States.. Really? I grew up thinking and KNOWING incest is bad... Its his bloody sister! Just... What kinda people get off to this shit? Thinking "Ohh well they are in love with each other.. Its true love and romance.." Well NO! It is wrong!

What was more fucked up is.. Everyone is the show supported this. I mean they weren't like "Dude..That's your sister.. You know that's sick man! That's wrong!" But no they were all "Aww he found love" Fucking idiots they are. Cause..tapping your sisters ass is not right!

If you are a sick fuck who thinks it is please email me at Chief_Fus (at) hotmail (dot) com and explain why incest is right. I'm curious to why you would want to nail your sister/brother/dad/mom/ whatever. Somehow I think the same people who think this is right are also the ones who Jerk off to the "SHE IS A VIRGIN!!" Nagi.. HAHA!

And you know.. Only one character thought that this was wrong..
Posted Image

That girl annoyed me the whole series... But apparently I should have payed more attention to her being the only sain one in the group..

This show is like Canvas 2. Another show I liked up to the ending when the main character nailed his cousin. I mean..The show was good.. up till the last episode where again incest is cool!

Another quick note about Akane iro ni Somaru.. It is based on a "Popular H-Game". Which you know a few good anime's Ive seen are based on H-Games.. but... This made me think.. In the game to you set out to nail your sister? You sick fucks...

So I have another show I need to watch the last few episodes on but I'll get that review up after I have watched the last few episodes. For now I will leave you with a tip.. Although some show's may make statements like "nailing your sister is cool".. In reality it is wrong! So don' get any ideas in your head like "I'm so going to nail my sister tonight!" cause that is wrong. And if you are actually going to nail your sister tonight and you have done so in the past.. You need to look at yourself in the mirror and blow your incest loving brains out!

That's all for tonight guys!

Clannad After Story

Well I am about half way through the second season of Clannad and I love it. Clannad falls into the same area as Kanon and Air. And for some reason most of the fan's of these 3 series prefer Kanon and Air over Clannad. I'll be honest..Kanon was good, I did watch it all and I liked it. However I think Clannad is doing a far better job. Same with Air.. except I actually didn't watch all of Air. It started off good but just got stupid.

Now these 3 shows fall into a sorta one guy multiple girls and he helps them out with certain issues throughout the show. That is just a brief thing on it. The problems with Kanon and Air.. Mostly Air, is that after that girl's problem is solved they vanish. The time they are on the show is gone. You will rarely see them that much again.
Clannad doesn't have this problem. Of course you have the main characters but everyone that they interact with stay as part of the show. Maybe not showing up as the whole gang in ever episode but they still show.

Now Clannad's first season was followed by a movie set into the future a bit more, and pretty much explained what their future life is like as well as explaining what happened in season 1 through back stories. Now.. This second season I think will cover everything in between. It started with them almost finished with school, now they are all out in the real work etc etc.

The things that happen in Clannad are also a bit more.. shall we say real. I mean sure the girl who was really a fox in Kanon was cool, and sure the main character in Air being able to make a puppet walk around like "magic" was nifty. But Clannad follows its own reality.

As well for some reason they have a weird side story.. Its only in some episodes and normally before the opening. I'm not sure really what its about but.. Its cool. About a girl who lived in a "dead world" so she built her robot friend. I'm not sure how it plays in.. And it was in the first season too. So.. I'm expecting some sort of deep meaning to it in the end. But all in all its cool and I like it.

So I've just watched episode 12, I think their will be 24 or 25.. So its a good show. I would say pick it up if you want a nice..just a nice show. Has some comedy, has some drama.. A bit of everything. And they pull it off quite well.

Shikabane Hime Aka

When a human dies and they hold an attachment to something on earth they become corpses and do not go to heaven. This normally happens if they die a pointless death, or a meaningless death. A certain cult in Japan controls some of these Corpses they call Shikabane's, and they use these corpses on a contract. After they kill 103 other corpses they get to go to heaven.

Now ok that might sound confusing but if you start to watch the show it isn't as much. I'm on episode 10 now and it took me a while to get this far. Main reason is that Funimation decided to licence the show only after a few episodes have been aired. Meaning that all of us who rely on Fansubs in North America were shit out of luck. Inless you wanted to pay Funimation a couple bucks to download their subbed releases. However recently I found out that a guy named Teki and google can be your best friends in finding episodes. Or.. You can stream it from Funimation's youtube site or whatever but quality sucks.

Good show.. I'm on episode 10 and its getting more and more intense. Needless to say I think their are only 2 episodes left and I'm on the edge of my seat.

Oh and...

It has one of the best opening scenes that Ive seen. Well I like it.. And no not just cause for some reason she isn't wearing panty's

Yeah.. Took me a few episodes to catch that cause it goes by so fast. Inless you are really paying attention you won't see.

So... However you like to put it.. New Season, Winter Season, Half way season.. Whatever. All the episodes that only went to 12 or 13 are now over and another set of 12 to 13 episode shows have started. Meanwhile the 24 (full season shows as I call them) are still only half way through.

Ok so the New Half way season started and first one Ive seen is..
White Album

Ok so... Just finished watching the first episode... Ok not a bad show, but it is going to be bloody depressing I think. Of course somewhere there will be a happy ending but.. Its started depressing... Pretty much a guy is dating a girl and she is becoming a idol.. So.. He is your average bum University student and she is becoming top shit idol.. So he is going through all the depressing feeling of "I'm not good enough" and is scared of loosing her. He hardly gets to see her and...Yeah, that's the first episode.. And I think that is pretty much going to sum the show up. I dunno.. I mean.. Ok cool.. I'll keep watching it but it is your basic show from what I can tell.. I think it can be good.. Depressing.. But good.

Only time will tell I guess. There are a few shows that kinda catch my attention on this half season, so when they get subbed I'll defintly start watching them. Although I think this season will be a bit more..laid back. The few 24 episode shows that I'm still watching are awesome but.. I'm going to miss a lot of those good shows.

Anyways... White Album is on my list and I am looking foreword to the next episode.

Again, AnimeTake.com is your place to go for current subbed series!

Thats all for tonight!

Hyakko

Okay, so Hyakko is done with.. And I liked it. Sure it wasn't the most original show out there, but it did its job well. I kind of wish there was a bit more story on some of the characters, but hey.. for 13 episodes they crammed in quite a bit. This review won;t be too long.. Not really much to add. It was a good show, nice comedy.. All the characters matched their parts great, stuff would happen that you wouldn't expect and.. It was just a nice show.

Now weather or not there will be a season 2 out of it.. I don't know. I doubt it.. But hey I could be wrong. But... If there is I will watch it.

So final thoughts.. Well they didn't re-make the wheel in comedy.. not even close. But all in all it was set up nice and was a good watch. So, yeah, I would say go watch it. It was the comedy of the season and it was good.

Minami-ke

OK well.. The third season just started for Minami-ke and.. Well having not watched the first 2 seasons I got my ass moving and quickly downloaded and watched them. Hell 2 days and 26 episodes.. Been working overtime to catch up haha. Anyways.. The seasons go as:
1) Minami-ke
2) Minami-ke Okawari
3) Minami-ke Okaeri (only episode 1 is out so far)

The plot is simple really.. 3 sisters who live together. 1 in Elementary School, 1 in Middle School, and 1 in High School. And.. well its just about day to day life.. The eldest sister is more of the mother type as she takes care of the others, the middle sister is the.. "idiot", and the youngest is the most serious. Of course the show doesn't only have them.. They have friends, things they do.. yadda yadda.. Its about their life. Which could come across as boring but its quite funny. I'm not really sure what to add.. I mean.. No real set story line, it goes episode to episode. I would give this a watch too.. Just a nice show.

Now.. These reviews were small but.. simple shows. Sometime next week once the last episode of Shikabane Hime Aka is released.. I'm going to love doing that review. Such a great show.. Just watched episode 12 and wow.. I'm on the edge of my seat.. Now if you haven't started watching Shikabane Hime Aka yet.. get on it! Remember google, guy named Teki, and torrents are your best friends. Cause it is licenced so.. I can't tell you anymore without.. you know breaking the law.. Well.. I don't know how much legal pull Funimation has in Canada.. But site rules etc. But hey, go get it!

The Tower of Druaga - Aegis of Uruk

Well.. I just finished watching the first season of The Tower Of Druaga as its second season has just started. Well.. I like the show. Its neat, and to be honest.. fairly original.. I mean..Okay here is a plot

"It is said that every few years, there is what's known as the "Summer of Anu." During that summer, thanks to the divine protection of the sky-god Anu, all of the demons in the tower lose their power. The country of Uruk has begun an invasion of the tower in order to suppress the demons. They've built up positions inside the tower, with their sights set on getting to the upper levels. The Uruk army knows that this is the third Summer of Anu-a perfect time to launch a mission to suppress the monster Druaga once and for all. The army soldiers aren't the only ones in the tower, though. An enitre city called Meskia has formed inside the tower's first floor. It plays host not just to soldiers, but also to adventurers who have heard rumors about a legendary treasure called the Blue Crystal Rod, which is said to rest at the very top of the tower. With all these different groups in the mix, each with its own agenda, one can only guess how things will play out during this unusual summer."

Sounded interesting when I read it so I gave it a go and quite liked it. Ive watched one episode of Tower of Druaga - Sword of Uruk (second Season) And.. that one seems to be right on track with the first one. The characters are great.. Of course you have 1 or 2 of them that might as well be cardboard cut outs and have no real story line or past etc...But still a good watch.

I would say watch this..Make sure you watch season 1 first as season 2 plays directly from that as Ive seen.

Not really much more to add..It has your action, semi romance but not much.. comedy, and... Well its just a good show. If you want to get out of your every day same ol' Anime grind.. give it a go.

Yeah, I highly recommend 'Tower of Druaga' Bleak. I admit there was one episode that was just pointless (or so I thought) but I guess you always get those.

kibaspirit, I have plenty of sources and sites that tell me whats out there.

A few would be
http://myanimelist.net/ - Huge lists of... well everything
http://www.animetake.com/ - Place to get stuff from the current season (none licenced)
http://forums.animesuki.com/index.php - Big Anime Board (I'm a member but don't post really)
http://animeafterglow.wordpress.com/ - Another Anime Review. Reading these I got a lot of older shows.

I have not heard of any of these bloody animes you've mentioned here. Considering my anime series vocabulary is only of Neon Genesis, Slayers and Bebop I guess I can't be too surprised there. My problem is good anime is hard to find, and I'm rather frightened of your opinion on 'good taste', but I'm gonna take a risk and track down some of the titles you recommend here. You let me down, or if any of these recommended anime turn out like your taste in music, I'm gonna fucken kill you.

Good reviews by the way mate; hope you keep it up. Just one thing though: Paul, how many spell checkers did it take for you to finish writing ‘em?

Maria + Holic

Now this is almost a exact carbon copy of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (which I reviewed before). And.. Well although the animation fast jokes, style and so on are a carbon the plot is quite different. This story revolves around a girl who just got put into a huge private all girls school. She finds a really cute blond girl who she befriends but wait.. that girl is really a guy! And she.. he isn't nice anymore. And.. well it goes from that.

Exact same quick humor as Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and I like that. I'm only 2 episodes in so.. Dunno really where to go on it. There might be more of a continues plot line then Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei had which will be nice.. But I can't see it being a huge deep story that sucks you in. It is a straight comedy, nothing more, and nothing less. I can see it being a good show for some laughs but that is about it.

So.. Really if you are looking for just a comedy I would say you should give Maria + Holic a try.
