@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Hey, i got this idea of topic (along with Ben), talking about the first and second world war and see both of these war under the perspective of the Canadian and American troops. The main goal of this topic is to share our historycal knowledge and to share the difference between those two nation that fight togheter agaisnt the Germany. This is not to find out which country was more powerfull, but only for sharing our knowledge on these major conflict of the 20 century.

Why not start this topic with a little video of a....hum, should i say, bad ending of WW2?:

Not alot of people know about Operation: Market Garden. It was a plan that attacked a series of Roads and Bridges in the Netherlands in order to liberate the Netherlands. It could have also ended the war by Christmas 1944. It didnt work cause the Germans faced there werent the tired ones they faced in France

They thought they would face tired Germans like they did in France.

Did you know why Operation Overlord worked so well? Hitler was concerned that the Allies would attack at the Narrowest point of the English Channel so he had more of a build up there. Plus the 81st Airborne and English Paratroopers got in behind enemy lines and soften defenses. Also the Allies had tanks they were going to roll in from the water but the water was too rough and some of the tanks sank. Which was also the inspiration for modern day tanks and IFVs can go from Sea to Land

Allied force for the Normandy Campaign: 2,052,299

You also forget a major detail: The US had planned this along with the British for at least 2 years and attemp to make the German belived they will attack at...well, i don't remember where exactly, but they did all they can to make the german belived that the Normandy will just be a diversion. So the German would thought that Normandy is not the place to be worry about.

On the night of June 5 to 6, 1944, Airborne troop from the US and British Army have landed behing enemy line to cut their line and weaken their artilery. Then, at the morning of June 6, 1944, the US/British/Canadian troop land on the beach of Normandy in a attemp to free France.

At this point, it was the second time the Allies try to liberate France for the Nazi. But this time, it succeed!

Trivia: When the German officier heard about the landing troop at the Normandy, Hitler was sleeping, so no one did want to awake him. Later on, when Hitler was informed of what was happening at the beach, he was sure it was just a diversion (prooving the plan made by the US/British had succeed).

Yup.

Did you know that Eisenhower and Patton were basically best friends?  Eisenhower said if Patton didnt die after the war he would have wanted Patton to be his V.P.

Let's talk about other random part of history, let's talk about.....1940!

That was a hell of a year, the Nazi war machine was at his BEST! At this point, France just fall and soon, England would be in the sight of the Nazi regime. At this point in history, the British army had one of, if not the most powerfull Navy Fleet in the world. It was just out of question to let it fall under the hand of the Nazi. The Prime Minister Winston Churchill was clear about this: If the British Empire was to be invaded by the Nazi, it was capital to send their own Navy Fleet to Canada, so the Canadian Army/Navy could used it to their advantage to continue the fight for the British. Fortunatly, England was never invaded, thanks to the result of the Battle of Britain (which was a massive failure for the Nazi). Otherwise, the last free land of Europe would be crush under the country with the swatika and the North American territories would probably be the next to be attacked.

The T-shirt was first introduced in 1942.

The minimum wage was $0.43 an hour.

In 1941, Mount Rushmore was finished.

The 1939 World Fair was the place that television was first introduced, but after the war began in the 40s, progress was virtually put on hold until around 1947

Ah yes, hitler rant parodies. I've seen the original movie they all are from, Der Untergang. Its a good film.

And SCREW YOU SCHWEINHUNDEN VE HAVE DIE BEZT GUNZ.

Beings that many men on my father's side served within the Wehrmacht and SS (about 7 of my great grandfather's brothers and himself), I got to hear quite the different story from american prrrrrrropaganda and lies to this day.

Not all SS men or Wehrmacht menschen were evil racist anti-semite brutalists. There were many who fought just for Germany. Itself, or even to save their families from ruthless bombings by the allies. But well, the victors tell the tales.

Despite being responsible for a lot of war crime, the SS and Wehrtmacht were just soldier who did their job, just like every soldier in every conflict and country.

But yeah, Der Untergang, or also know as Downfall, is one of my favorite war movie so far.

The original name was the NSDAP, the NationalSozialistiche Deutschland ArbeiterPartei.

In english, National Socialist German Workers Party.

Allied morons in the media coined "Nazi" from a pair of bits in the word NAtionalsoZIalistiche.
No german calls them that derogatory phrase to this day, they were always the National Socialists.

Anybody want a good WW1 movie? Anyone?......*cricket sound*.....Okay, fine. But if anyone ask for this, check this out, it's called ''The Lost Battalion''. It's a 2001 low-budget movie made for Tv. But despite his low-budget, this movie is surprinsingly good! In fact, it's now along my favorite war movie.

I also found this, a half-an-hour video about WW1, but from the British side this time:

I'll add some picture below. The first one is a picture of the British/Canadian uniform from WW1 and the second is from the French army in the same war.

For anyone looking for a good movie/video game about WW1 and WW2, here's my recommandation:

-----WW1 movie-----

-All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)

-Path of Glory (1957)

-The Lost Batallion (2001)

----WW1 Game------

-Necrovision (2009 PC)

-Necrovision Lost Company (2010 PC)

-Darkest of Days (2009 PC & Xbox 360)

*i would suggest to avoid the 360 version, because of a very poor optimisation*

-----WW2 Movie-----

-Downfall (2004)

-Saving Private Ryan (1998)

-Band of Brothers (.....hum, 2005? I'm not sure)

-Stalingrad (1993)

------WW2 Game------

ARG! THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM!
