That's true. But at the end of the day, FUS will still end up having the closest thing to a canon comic with SatAM characters in it. Most other web comics I've seen with SatAM characters in them end up being parodies, instead of a serialized saga, like this one is. And that really does carry alot of weight, especially with older fans like me.

I've discovered my true inner fandom about a year and a half ago, so I'm not a long time fan.
Although the other sites nay have parodies, but that doesn't mean that SEGA WILL say that Sea3on is canon. In the end, SEGA has the last laugh as to what is canon and what is not. So, maybe Sea3on is the closest to canon, but SEGA can say that something else is canon, not Sea3on. Now, I'm not saying this will happen, but more that it might.

I'm of the opinion that it's up to the individual to determine canon. It's all fiction, after all.
The only thing that an "official" work inherently has over a fan made counterpart is a corporate logo stamped somewhere. That has nothing to do with quality, merely legal aspects that are not pertinent to the nature of the work itself.
At its core, the heart of fiction, of all art, lies in the interaction between work and audience. That's something very personal, very intimate. To have these interactions governed by external legal standings is to treat works as product, not art, a very harmful mindset.

Well, maybe we can believe it is canon, but we believed the world would end on 12-21-12. Belief can only go so far, until reality slaps you in the face saying "welcome to the real world, suckah!"

Well, Archie ended the Sonic X comic a few years ago, so we won't be seeing it again unless they revive it. I honestly don't see Sega doing much to help Archie. I imagine Sega will only get involved to prevent this case from doing any severe damage to them. And while some of the SatAM characters appeared in Sonic Spinball, I don't expect to see any of them in any of the new Sonic games. They seem perfectly satisfied to keep creating new characters for all the kids.

Metal Sonic is just another Sonic and they did put Big The Cat in Sonic Heroes.Which is where Mario has gone...

They've thought about reviving the series in a Sonic Universe story arc.
