Nintendo has announced a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for 3DS!

Hey, look, another rehashed from Nintendo! Don't get me wrong, this game doesn't look bad at all. In fact, Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game....but come on, i mean, again? This is the reason why i don't want a 3DS, because it's not because the game look bad, but because of the complete lack of effort and originality (also because of the 3D gimmick too). Zelda Ocarina 3D, Starfox 64 3D, a sequel to Luigi's Mansion, New super Mario 2, Mario 3D land, DK Country Return 3D, etc. Remake and/or game based from another, all of them give me a feeling of dejà-vu.

So....can we suggest to erase that topic? Aslo, i'm not a Zelda fan, but Link to the Past is very good. Nothing revolutionary, mind you, but for what it does, it does it very well.

Yes, it's not new to Nintendo to re-use some old franchise, but at least they used to add more thought and originality. Nintendo game used but be much more clever, but now.....they just recycle their old game and do more of the same.

I only make topics for the really important games. The rest, like Mickey Mouse HD, go in the New Games Topic.

Regardless ALL new games should go into the New Games Topic. The only exception would be a new Sonic game. I'm doing this VHS so we dont make a new topic every week

Technically you can make topics about new games if you want. Technically there is a Sonic Games thread in Sonic chat so technically this is the thread for random new game topics.

Not that every knew PS3 game comes out with a PSVIta version with little to no differences. Also all of PSVita's games are based on other Playstation games.

Technically you could argue that nothing since the NES era has been new as it is either a remake or a sequel based on an old franchise.

And you can't really argue that point since even 'original' ideas such as Halo are rip-offs of other media (examples: The Alien Movies and StarCraft)

I hope you don't think that i talk negative agaisnt the 3DS to make to PS Vita look good, because i hate the Vita even more than the 3DS. While we can argue about the lack of originality for the game avaiable for the 3DS, at least we're safe to say that the 3DS have good game (mostly rehashed or remake, but still good game nontheless), the Vita library on the other hand is as interesting as a ghost town.

Also, when you were talking about the game since the NES, more original game could be found through the 80's to the 90's. But for this 7th generation of console, we don't have alot original stuff. The 3DS is even worse. Because if you look right at it, the best title right now for the console is:
-Zelda Ocarina 3D (a remake of a game that i already own on my N64)

-Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (a sequel to a game that isn't made for a sequel)
-Kid Icarus Uprising (i don't know much about this one, but so far i've heard some negative comment relate to the control of the game)
-Mario Kart 7 (i don't think i have to said more, it's a Mario Kart...again)
-New Super Mario Bros 2 (it's the same game as the version for DS and the Wii, but this time with millions of coins everywhere)
-Super Mario 3D Land (This time it's like Super Mario Bros 3, with the graphic of Galaxy, with a 3D field and...yeah, that's pretty much it)
-the new Zelda Link to the Past sequel (it's like Lik to the Past, but with better graphic)
-DK Country Return 3D (it's the same game for the Wii, except....WITH 3D!)

I'm sure there is even more that i forget to mention, but i don't care. So far, for all the new game for the 3DS give me all a feeling of dejà-vu. It's time to do more effort, Nintendo!

-I don't really care for Halo and i don't care at all for the movie Alien and for Starcraft.
-The concept of DK was based from King Kong, but you can't tell me that this franchise is just pure rip-off as far as the gameplay goes.
-The apparence of Link and Peter Pan are the only thing they share in commun. For the rest, it's something entirely different.
-I don't care for Mega Man. Not that i have something agaisnt him, but it's just that i don't care for this franchise.
-Don't care for Kingdom Heart too. Beside Final Fantasy 6, i don't care for this franchise as well.
-Sonic wasn't made to play like Mario, it was made to be a plateformer that could be good enough to stand against Mario.
-Forza Motosport was not a remake for a PC game, same for Halo, for Conker Live & Reloaded, Project Gotham Racing, Outrun 2, Sega GT 2002, Call of Cthulhu, etc...

For Nintendo, they are even less original then the rest (Sony is giving a hard competition with Nintendo in term of lack of originality).

Wrong. I believe that making games based on franchises people like is a better move then making things unoriginal.

Also on the note of gameplay, even the remakes of the N64 Games had new gameplay mechanics that weren't in the originals. Also Luigi's Mansion 2 had been planned since GameCube Era.

Every Game that is a sequel is essentially the previous game only with better graphics and a few new elements.
