What a load of shit. They may as well scrap the comic now.
You mean before commit more damage? Yeah, that's something they should do. But as long as the comic still selling, they wont.
If my english can look like crap, don't kill me...please? French is my native language!
PS: I love bacon. Why? Because i said so...(i also love the Dreamcast)

My only question is, who would replace Lien-Da? She was sorta unique, being one of the higher-ranking villains (alongside Eggman, Mogul, and Naugus) that was female. I guess Regina could replace her, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm afraid that, until recently that is, I've been out of the loop concerning the comic. Prior to the last six months the last time I read one it was rather silly and Sally was still pink, which turned me off to it and was a reason I didn't follow the comic.
Personally, I'm on the fence if I'll subscribe or not to the comic. It really hangs on what Flynn and company do to the Freedom Fighters. There are a few of Penders' characters that I'll miss, but even without them I can easily see Flynn writing around their absence.

I have a question on the subject and I thought someone might be able to answer me. What were the circumstances of Penders' split from Archie? Was he forced out or did he quit and was it on amiable or bad terms?

I never did figure out what happened with Archie and Penders. I just remember looking at my old issues and seeing that around Issue 160 or so, he was no longer a writer. I had no idea about the lawsuit until about a year or so ago when I found out online.

I like the old cast too. And while some of them have been written out, I still don't get how they are going to handle the plot with Naugus and Geoffrey. Unless some deux ex machina fixes that whole mess. And it would be ridiculous.

Thanks for the reply,
I don't think it'll be too hard for Flynn to get around it, if he is any kind of writer that is. Out of Penders' characters Geoffrey was one of my favourites, if it doesn't work out I'll miss him as well as a couple of others.
After reading the entire series recently I have to say, whatever the case, that getting rid of him helped the comic immeasurably. Now that I think about it, from about issue 55-70 to about 170 in my opinion the comic was not really that good; that would coincide with the time he was the lead writer.

I wouldn't be surprised if they fired him, especially since he's such a douche. (He was a douche long before the lawsuit, too; the lawsuits just made it general knowledge among the fandom.) Actually, considering he's such a prima donna, I'd bet it's one of those things where they more or less got rid of each other (a situation I can relate to all too well).

I think it's the fact he hasn't really done anything since working for Archie that led to the lawsuit. Rather then swallow his pride and go back to Archie, he just wanted his characters.
Though I thought of a solution that could potentially benefit everyone. Why not let Penders do a Alternate Universe Comic? We'd keep the main story with no changes, and Penders can write his own storyline with his characters, branching off at the point where he stopped writing or whenever. You could even have the story introduced via Sonic Universe without making any promises. Everybody wins!

Come to think of it, I don't think I know anything about why Penders left Archie either, even though I'd been following the lawsuits from the beginning. His departure came long before the lawsuits, though.

Wouldn't be all that surprising if he was fired. Reasoning why? Who knows. Maybe it just came down to the fact that the editors wanted someone with new and fresh ideas to take over the comic. It has been said that after Flynn took over the reading figures tripled, so that either means during the end of Ken and the rest of the writers run that readership was either average or low. I personally think it'd be the latter one because it the sales were average, they'd probably have kept the writing team as it were. Penders had been writing for the comic for a good 10+ years at the time he was dropped, and it was pretty clear he was dry on ideas, the last few years of his run was fuckin' boring. Archie told him that his services were no longer required and he probably/hopefully got insanely butthurt about it.

"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

I was under the impression he didn't like the way Archie Comics wanted to go. They couldn't find a middle ground, and he left.

That would be awesome. I highly doubt something like that would happen though. If it did, it would be great. Basically everyone wins. I can't imagine Archie being pleased of another Sonic comic existing though that some readers would gravitate towards.

GENIUS!

I think maybe he meant that Penders would be doing that under Archie. Which puts this firmly in fantasy land because no way in hell would Archie (or anyone with half a mind) want to work with him now.I highly doubt something like that would happen though. If it did, it would be great. Basically everyone wins. I can't imagine Archie being pleased of another Sonic comic existing though that some readers would gravitate towards.

That makes sense, if readership was down, then that definitely would've been enough reason for Archie sacking Penders.
