@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

i'd protest at his house

Good. If I could find his address... Here it is:
http://www.kenpender...ystatement.html

He lives close near me  If he still lives there.

If you see him, tell him that everyone in Canada hate him too!

I'll try, if he still lives there or not. Also, he disconnect his phone. I wonder why!

Listen, if Ken really wins the case, maybe we'll try to protest at his home. Depends on the Sonic fans and believe me they wouldn't care any less about the Archie Comics because they're into the games mostly! But, they may hate the comic, but I hope there's millions of people out there who cares about the characters then the story of the comics. I may dislike the new comics, but, I still care for the characters.

Anyone with me on that?

This reminds me of the case of Snap, Crackle, and Pop for Rice Krispies (Rice Bubbles for any mates down under): Vernon Grant was the original creator of the three and enjoyed a good relationship with Kellogg's. Then he wanted to have the exclusive rights to it, took Kellogg's to court, and lost big time.

I hope it does turn out like that. But, not everybody like that lost the case. Well, Actor Warren Beatty own the rights of the character Dick Tracy (Which is not his). See for yourself:

well, I'm going to jump out of the comic as early as I can. I know it's closed minded to do this since the Megaman/Sonic crossover and its aftermath haven't been published yet, judging by the article posted by Robthe1st and its feedback, I think it might be a good time to leave.

Well, you know, it's never an easy thing to give up something you like. For me, i like the Sonic Archie Comic. I like the character, the story, the action scene, etc. But all the recent change just shit on many thing that i like in the comic! I would want to continued to reading it as a Sonic fan. But like i said, sometime, you know that deep inside you, leaving and turning the page is the right thing to do.

I feel the same for other serie, such as Red vs Blue.

I guess your right. Ken must've hire a really good lawyer. But this case is not over yet... I still hope Archie finds out something to save their asses! I hope.

And if Ken really wins, I don't know if I'll protest him, maybe someone else could do this for me. And besides, the sonic games fans still dislike the archie comics anyway. They're hoping to get these SatAm characters off the table and make the comic more like the games anyway. So, the hell with the games fans. they just don't know of how a good story works.

Oh, well. :(

You gotta point. It isn't easy to give up a series you like even if you gotten over it. If the crossover is decent or good in its own right, then I'll forgive the changes. It's a shame they're eliminating a part of the comic's history because of the lawsuit.

On second thought, maybe I can protest at his home. I'm forming a protest group call: RAP (Rally Against Penders) Good idea?! xD So... as myself the main owner, if Ken wins the case, we will protest at his home as long as it takes to make him to change his mind, even it takes for months or an year! Think about it... Uncle Ben, since you're with me or maybe not... how would u like to be as co-oweer (or call vice-president) of my group? Think about it. Maybe millions of people out there will join, even for those who are non-sonic fans, comic books fans would like to help me on this. It's all about saving the characters will love! I hope my RAP group will appear to people. We'll see. :) If not, then it won't happen.

Oh! Here's the link group I made, it's still in process, if anyone would like to join:

Read the article.

So, Mr. Penders wants money for using characters made by him, and Archies doesn't want to do that? That's... breaking the law. That's a copyright issue right there. You go, Penders. Sue Archie for everything they have; they deserve it!

Can I be Secretary?

The problem is right there: Penders didn't create these character for him, but rather for Archie! So Penders is wrong, not Archie. By writting the character and story, he made it for the Comic, because after all, it's not HIS franchise. The Sonic comic is something that's belong to Sega and Archie, so every character created for the comic, it's up to Archie and Sega to do what they want with it, not Penders.

Penders claims he never signed the agreement to give the characters to Archie so they're his. All this because the badguys in Sonic Chronicles are similar to his characters (honestly I think Bioware intended to base the game off the comics anyways).
Here's the thing. Penders apparently never signed any of his scripts either. So he has really no proof they're his characters.

When Penders start to work for Archie, he was aware that his work is not his. It's not because he create something that mean that it belong to him. Take Mario for exemple, Myamoto create him, but the character belong to Nintendo. Even if Myamoto created new character, that will still not belong to him, but instead to Nintendo.

Penders is trying to take the character that he has create for the Archie comic.

This is just one bad scenario
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

That reminds me of how Naoto is aclaimed to be Sonic's 'creator', even though Masato was the one who made the character. If anything, Masato has more rights to Sonic thatn Naoto would have. But, yes, Masato made the charater for SEGA, and practically saved the company from bankruptcy, even after SEGA had tried to sell Samba de Amigio, Billy Hatcher, and other terrible, terrible games, apart from the ever confusing Genesis add-ons. Sonic saved SEGA, and Sonic Team/SEGA hold the rights to Sobic, not Naoto or Masato.

So, Penders, if you were going to make characters to simply give up the rights to some other people only to tryt o claim money from the characters later in life, you should have just made the characters, then allowed Archie to use the characters... with a "small" fee

Just as a sidebar, does SEGA also own the rights to Penders' characters, or is it just the Archie branch?

By technicality: Sega own ALL characters in the games, tv shows, comic, etc.

Even if he didn't sign anything explicitly stating that he could retain (or surrender) ownership, many companies have a clause that pretty much says anything you create/patent/have sexual relations with is theirs. The problem? They usually put it in the employee handbook and then make you sign a form stating that you have received the handbook and agree to adhere to it. Now, whether this is the case with Archie, I don't know, unless we ask someone that works there.
