I was thinking of abandoning the comic for quite some time now because of the ''Penders case'' and all the element remove. But now, i'm going to do it for sure. I'm just going to stay just so i can see the glorious return of Sally, Bunnie and Antoine, and then i gave up this comic.

There is many character that i care about who are not likely to be back: Elias, Remington, Lien-Da, Julie-Su, etc. In a blink of an eye, gone....all of them!

The rights to the characters are not lost to them forever, nor is it true they won’t be able to reprint Ken’s works outside the comic itself, like a digest. They would just have to enter into agreement with Ken for the use of the stories and characters. Whether they do so or not is their decision, not Ken’s. As I’ve stated before, it was never Ken’s intent to ban Archie’s use of his characters, but he does feel that as long as Archie is benefiting from them (i.e., earning income) beyond the scope of the original intent of the works (i.e., outside the comics), he should also be compensated for those additional uses as their creator.

So all Penders wants is compensation for their use?? How hard is that??

Because large companies (especially publishing houses such as Archie) would give an amount, and Penders would probably balk, saying "That's not enough. I demand X." Then we'd be back at square one. It all boils down to control: Archie obviously wants to make money (nothing wrong with that) using Penders' characters; Penders wants to do his own thing (and make his own money) without interference from above. Sounds like both of them would be yelling "You'd be nothing without me!" at each other.

It's all about the money and the glory. Penders wants to use his characters the way he wants to. I don't think he'd accept compensation anyways.

According to the Article from a guy by the name of BobR (who in the past posts seem to know Penders' side of this) said that thats all Penders really asked to be compensated for Archie making money off "of his creations"

If that is the case Archie, FREAKING *butterscotch* PAY THE COMPENSATION! Or buy the rights.

Because fans are the ones losing out. And when fans lose out they stop buying your stuff. When they stop buying your stuff, you stop making money anyways.
