A case of a joke idea from the comic's goofier days not being thrown out when the series became more serious.

"Everyone creates the thing that they dread. Men of peace create engines of war. Invaders create Avengers. People create... smaller people...? CHILDREN! (chuckles) Lost the word there..."

That's where Scourge and Co come from. Originally they were the Anti-Freedom Fighters. In one issue Anti-Sonic absorbs power from the Master Emerald causing him to become Scourge. He later goes back to his world and takes over it, forcing everyone to evolve from being just evil copies to 'superior' version. The Cosmic Interstate, as the Captain said, is the way dimensions are reached according to the Sonic Archieves. I don't realy know if other comic books series use such a thing, but apparently, according to the Archeives, if you go to the opposite end of the Cosmic Interstate, you'l find yourself in a place where Moral Alignment is flipped, whereas Sonic and Co. are the 'bad guys', and Robotnick is the 'good guy'. Antoine doesn't usualy go into reverse just to run over a fruit stand. I don't realy know anything else about the Cosmic Interestate. I ony read 2 issuses of the Acieves, so I'll shut up now...

Sonic goes in, and gets his ___ whooped, but eventually recovers, and with some new piece of technology of some sort, he pwns the evil copies.
