Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger(Unofficial Squadion Akibaranger)
To best discribe this series in a nutshell, is I heard one person say if you had the members of TV tropes and 4chan get together and make a power rangers series. OH YES It's that F***ed up and my god is it awesome. It's a parody/tribute to the sentai series but it's geared towards teenagers and young adults who grew up or still watch sentai, due to some of the content, they even have a notice in the episode previews "Good little kids shouldn't watch this!" and it's also on late at night.
Okay the series tells the story of 29 year old, Nobuo Akagi, who works at a delivery shop and it's a die-hard sentai fan to the point that he has delusions about be a sentai member much to the demay of his boss. He is approched by Hiroyo Hakase, the owner of a sentai themed maid cafe who wants to make him the red ranger for a new sentai team. At first Nobuo thinks she means a new show but she means it ilterally. She also recuits two others, 19 year old Mitsuki Aoyagi(blue) and 23/24(she has a birthday during the series) Yumeria Moegi(yellow). At the cafe, they are given anime figures that can turn into guns that serve as morphers but when they ask who they will be fighting......Hakaese has no idea. Eventually they run into The Blatantly evil Marketing Firm B who aim to destroy otaku culture and convert Akihabara into another of tokyo's non-otaku districts. As akibaranger, they have two goals, defeat The Blatantly evil Marketing Firm B and have Toei make Akibaranger an official series. However we learn that the first part is all in there heads since their morphers have them fight the non-existant villians in a massive delusion.(Or so we think).
Anyway the first season ends with the villians able to enter the real world and the heroes morphing in real life but they soon discover that their universe is a TV show and when they become self aware, the show's creator moves on the final episode so that show can be canceled resulting in the second to last episode seeing the akibarangers trying to stop the show from ending in halious ways but to no evail. I'm telling you this because for the second season the show is being ret-coned so that the season half of the series never happened. So this should be interesting also the blue memeber is getting a new actress/character since the previous actress had other projects. Anyway even if you hate power rangers I still recomend checking it out since it's so good and they also spoof alot of otaku culture as well and break the fourth wall alot. You can find english subs on daily motion or download them from Tv-nihon via bit-torrent. The new season starts April 5th.
