Metal Sonic was introduced to be the stereotypical evil doppelganger/Fight-your-evil-self character in Sonic. Now while that can be an awesome concept, I can't justify SatAM Robotnik or Snively making a Metal Sonic. Specifically since Robotnik made an Metal Sally and it already failed.

Again, Gojira already did his take on a SatAM version of Metal Sonic, it was just in a short story set before Sea3on. Given that it's by the same author, I would think that, unless stated otherwise by the FUS staff, it can be considered part of Sea3on's canon. At the very least, it's definitely worth a read; his characterization is amazing.

Metal Sonic and the robotic version of Sally filled completely different roles, and are thus not at all comparable. The former is meant to be an unstoppable engine of destruction, focused solely on direct physical violence. The latter was an infiltration unit, meant to discover the location of Knothole and, failing that due to a communications failure, sabotage the Freedom Fighters from within, using direct violence only as a last resort upon discovery.

Or, Robot nick could put a tracking device on Sonic, considering how he almost had him near the end. That way, if/when he did escape, Robotnick could finally be able to find Knothole and blow the place to hell. But no. A genius with an IQ of 500 can't come up with that...

Metal Sonic was created to be a "better" Sonic. One of the themes in Sonic is nature vs machines. While Metal tends to have the ability to be a n unstoppable engine of Destruction, that is because Sonic is kind of an unstoppable engine of good....or whatever. In fact, in the games Metal actually achieves his levels for destruction against Robotnik/Eggman's wishes.
Also in the SatAM universe, the only reason to create Metal would be to either have him pretend to be Sonic, or be another Robot designed to kill/destroy/beat Sonic. But the doppelganger robot already failed, and there is little to no reason to make a robot Sonic to fight Sonic.
Another option would be to create Metal Sonic in an attempt to harness the power of power rings....but then Metal would probably fail and be destroyed on his initial appearance.

While we don't see it very often because the series revolves around Sonic and Co, SWATbots actually are kinda a threat. They have captured other freedom fighters and even in one episode capture Sally.

I believe adding new characters as the series goes is a good move. Too much of the same thing for too long can make the series stale. The trick is adding a character for a legitimate reason, and not just adding a character cuz they can.

I dont feel that anyone else needs to be added. I think Knuckles is the last main character that needed to be added, unless another one comes up that may be needed but overall i don't think anyone else is necessary

Scourge would be an interesting character for the series.

Possibly in the 6th season.
