Harsh assumption there buddy.  No offense but how do you know that?  

 

You should never assume someone doesn't know what they're talking about just because they don't have the same views as you on a character.

 

 

I've made it no secret that I also dislike the character of Julie-Su, and I've read the entire Knuckles series, and I agree with Magenta Drake on her character.  She was created to be the female lead in the Knuckles comics, where she's shown being a complete tool, only siding with Knuckles originally out of just being there.  They whole romance comes down to that they are "destined" to be together, but beyond that they don't have any chemistry.  Julie-Su is a complete jerk to Vector (in her defense he's one back and they both equally deserve it).  She always acts tough but rarely ever does anything BUT act tough, and never really proves it.  

 

Honestly the most personality that isn't generic I've seen from Julie-Su comes from her 25-Years Later personality where she's worse because what was once a character (one I don't like but still) is now nothing more than a regular stay at home mom.  Except Stay at home moms actually have personalities, Julie-Su seems to lost hers when she became one.   

 

Julie-Su isn't a BAMF, she tries too hard to be. 

 

 

 

 

Oh God! I'm sick of tired that some people compares Julie-Su or Sally to Mary-Sue. 

Honestly though it's true in some cases.  As much as Sally is my all time favorite Sonic character, you have to admit she gets a lot of special treatment that NONE of the other Comic/SatAM characters or even SEGA characters get.  Julie-Su is in the same boat.  Her "Destined" Romance with Knuckles is what causes Knuckles to have no chemistry with Rouge, because Archie hasn't given it a chance.  They DO come off as "Mary-Sues" because they get the special treatment.  They aren't, but even long term fans can see where the idea comes from.

I've grown up reading the comic back then and she ain't no Mary-Sue... and she's much more appearing then Rouge and Tikal. I never seen a tough, bad-@$$, tomboy echidna character that can be so quite appearing since I was a child. Never forgot she is a quite shooter  And she's also very caring character.. you just don't know a thing about her. 

 

She may be gone, but she'll always be alive in our hearts.

 

 

First of all you're entitled to your opinion and I have a history of having a distaste for "lead females" (Sally, Amy, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, etc...)

 

And I admit calling Julie-Su a "Mary-Su" is a little harsh. That implies I think she has no character depth and that is simply not true. She HAS depth. I am sorry I implied otherwise. I just think her depth of character is too similar to Knuckles. I don't know a trope for that character but they're in fanfics and close to "Mary-Su"

 

Like if I wrote Sonic dating a purple hedgehog, with missing parents, super speed, and a run-free attitude, with a gimmick of her being trained in hand to hand combat so she's not Sonic in a skirt. 

 

If I wrote a religious, teleporting, visual mutant, with a twist of using a bow and arrow to date Nightcrawler. 

 

I just feel Juli-Su is like that. She is a Pink Enchidna, With parent issues, changes sides, and has a twist of liking tech so she's not just Knuckles in a skirt. I honestly believe is she was Knux sister instead of his "destined" girlfriend I would have loved her.

On the other charge I don't ship Tikal with anyone and I don't ship Rogue with Knux. Rogue is no better than Juli-Su as a match. If I really had to choose one of those three I would pick Juli-Su. I just like the characters of Tikal and Rogue better... and It's not by much.

Yeah... if anyone who knows a title for those fanfic girlfriend clones I would love to know it.

And it is like an epiphany ... I think the flaws I see in Juli-Su would be nowhere as unsettling to me if she was a sibling instead of a girlfriend.

BTW, have you RedAuthar, I know you read all the Sonic Comic Issues, but have you ever read the Knuckles Comics, too? If so, did you read more info. about Julie-Su? Just saying.

Oh... Archie has already taken her off the list, and Knuckles will not have another girlfriend... I think Knuckles will work alone and find his own path... that's what I think it'll happen. As for the nicole touch thing.. that will never happen and I'm sure Nicole will tell Sonic that she doesn't exist in the new world.

 

And remember, I talk to Ian Flynn before and he told me that Ken Penders wants to have his own character rights. Yep... sad, but true.
