@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I always like reading stories... so tell me yours! How did you guys get to this site, get to be a sonic gamer etc.

Here's my story:

When I was a kid, my older sisters both had sega gamegears with copies of Sonic 2 (among other games. I didn't play those as much because the roadrunner game she had gave a scary image after every time you died, the lion king game's music scared me and the mickey mouse game was darker than the cartoons on TV). I played that game religiously, even though I couldn't get past the first boss without using a gamegenie (do you guys even remember those things?). After that, sonic took a backseat, but I never forgot the hedgehog and played the game whenever we could get the old handhelds out. We had gotten the NES, GameCube, PlayStation2 and other consoles in the meantime.

Then, when I was on vacation (about when I was 10 or so) We visited Maryland to see my relatives for the fourth of July. One of the kids brought their gamecube with Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. I instantly saw the blue hedgehog and flipped out. I played that game, went out and watched the fireworks, then went back in and played. My parents had to peel me away from the gamecube so we could go home. So, of course, I begged my parents to buy it for me. That's where my love of Sonic officially started. I've gotten every sonic game since then. Later that summer though, I was flipping through the disney channel and saw TAoSTH playing. I then realized "OMIGOD THERE'S A CARTOON FOR MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!" I could never find the cartoon again until I got on netflix, but I never forgot about it.

After doing more research about the sonic cartoons, I realized there was an alternate universe based on the comics called "SatAM" (and yes, I said satam instead of Sat-A-M). I got really into it. Then my school life got better when I realized I wasn't the only kid obsessed with sonic at my school. My newly found friends and I still talk about the cartoons and games today!

I was actually trying to figure out WHY SatAM got cancelled when I stumbled upon this site with all it's information and the Sea3on comic. I started reading the comic and finished the entire library in a week or two (yea, it was thanksgiving break :P). Later, I realized there was a forum where I could voice my opinion and talk with other people on the site, so I joined! and here I am now!

So that's my story... what's yours?

Yea thats what i thought
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

My first exposure with Sonic is when I saw previews of SatAM and AoStH in video cassettes when I was a kid. At the time I kinda interested, but never get the chance to watch it. That's when Sonic Heroes came along. Admitally, I never bought the game, but it did gotten me interested in the Sonic Franchise. The real reason why I got interested in the franchise was the Chaotix. Probably because I was a bit interested in reptiles. The only games of the franchise I bought was Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and SEGA All Stars Tennis(I was originally going to get SEGA All Star Racing, but I only got the cover and in it is the disc for the tennis game).
Also, I found out the comics on Wikipedia and read articles about it, but never really read the comics. That is when SonicComicWorld posted them on Youtube in 2010 and read them around 2011. The rest was history. That's all I have to say.
I found the site around 2011, but I forget how I did that.

About Sonic:

My father likes videogames, my mother like videogames. My brother 6 years older than me like videogames. My grand-father had (and still have it) a Master System. My cousin with used to along with her had a Master System.

With this atmotsphere...is not really hard suppose how I started with Sonic.

With few years, around 3 (I think when I was able to hold a controller) I started playing Sonic because when I born, my brother had already a Mega Drive (or Genesis) with some the Sonic Games. I played a lot more of videogames: Alex Kidd franchise (Miracle World, Enchant Cast, Shinobi), Bomber Raid, Asterix, Light Crushader, Columns with my father, soccer and golf sport games, Marble Madness, Street fighter, Fantasia (I really love the soundtrack when I was a kid, same with Sonic), Quackshot, Risky Woods, Master of Darkness....and a long, long etc. I played those games with my grand-father when he was younger, with my cousin, with my brother, with my relatives...and I still play with them (not with my grand-father obviously)

And its only my start...I played videogames all my life.

About this forum:

When I really get interested on the Sonic franchise from videogames, I decided to watch some shows. I watched when I was a kid AoStH (random chapters), later Sonic X (When the show start on Jap and you hardly found some subs on spanish), later the OVA, later AoStH full, and after see 10 min of Underground, I decided to watch SatAM. Was really good, but after 13 chapter I realizing something striking, the second season hadn't released. Feeling that I have to payback all those years of fun that Sonic bring me, I wanted to contribute to the community subtitling the second season for them. Unfortunately, my vocal english was really, really bad. I couldn't understand crap...So looking for help...I made my first post here:

http://sonicsatam.co...wtopic=3399&hl=

Later I introduce myself:

http://sonicsatam.co...wtopic=3403&hl=

And well, you know the present...Thanks to this forum I become a Sonic translator for Spanish comunnity working with Hammer, the other spanish forum member in such things like , SatAM 2nd Season, Archie Comics, History of Sonic The Hedgehog, The fan film, Veronica Vero comics...etc.

I never had a sega console. They were too expensive. I knew about Sonic from the commercials. I was a bit surprised when I found Sonic on tv one saturday morning. I was unable to really follow the series because I was 13 and my folks thought that was too old for cartoons, so my 2 year old brother got to watch his Barney tapes all the time. I did occasionally catch some episodes when I went over to my second best friend's house, though. Many years later, I would occasionally check the internet to see if I could learn more about the show. I found a link to the FUS boards on Wikipedia while they were in talks with Shout! Factory to get the show on DVD. That's when I joined FUS.

First console was a Sega Dreamcast. Got SA and SA2. Went on from there with GC, PS2, X360 and Wii.

Now for find FUS was a bit of a story in itself. I was looking up stuff on SatAM with my (at the time) new MacBook and i came across the SonicWiki page concerning SatAM. I read it and i followed a link to FUS itself. After a few days i read the comic and a week or 2 later i found my way to the forums. Being a bored College student with nothing better to do i joined up and the rest is history.

Over the years I had heard of Sonic, but never really had any interest.
My interest began to peak when I saw some Sonic X reruns, played the Ultimate Flash Sonic game, and read the 2011 FCBD comic
issue.
Then in Christmas of 2012, I got an iPad. The apps I made a beeline for we're Angry Birds and Plants Vs. Zombies. With my spare money I decided to buy Sonic CD, because of the AVGN's quick review of it on the Sega CD episode. I had trouble getting used to it, but I grew to love it.
Then, I got curious about the Adventures series, because of the several clips I saw of it on Youtube. I watched a few episodes on Youtube and also found the first episode SatAM, which I was surprised to discover had the main Archie comic cast.
I hastily bought all the DVD sets of SatAM and AoStH with my Christmas money.

And I will never be the same again.

For me, Sonic had become The Lord of the Rings of franchises, the Star Wars, the Avatar, all of those things.

Not a day has gone by where I haven't watched a Sonic video, played a Sonic game, or even thought about the Sonic universes!

I found FUS while searching for more Sonic info and occasionally checked the forums. After seeing the Sally redesign, I decided to join the site to post my opinion. And, I just decided to stick around afterward.

I like how VHS mumbled and grumbled about being surrounded by idiots because Lito290 was unaware of a smiliar topic like this being created (yeah, shame on him for not digging around for old dead topics!) and yet he ends up replying in this thread anyway.

But yeah, been a fan of the series since the beginning more or less, watched SatAM whenever I could and around 2001, met a guy who remembered the show as well, we went looking for info on it, found FUS and yeah, that was pretty much it. Been off and on the forum the last 12 years because of one reason or another, but always seem to come back.
'Star Wars' is my story, just like my house is my house. So if I wanna paint my house green, even if everyone else thinks it should be red, guess what? I'm gonna paint it Jar Jar! - George Lucas

"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

Well my friend is a huge Sonic Fan (and also a fan of Mario, Spyro etc) and his interest kinda peaked my interest, which started with *inhale* The Nostalgia Critics review of AoStH. after seeing the two shows he reviewed, Christmas was right around the corner and i asked for Sonic Generations. i got stuck on it for a long time partly because of the final boss, but i managed to beat it One Month and One Day after i got it for X-mas.

then so i played other sonic games: i emulated the mega drive games, bought a dreamcast and burnt copies of SA1 and 2, (Hint: play SA2 with a Gameshark enabled to stop the timer. it means i can finally beat security Hall! i still don't like that game though. i'll never like a game with such a high spike in difficulty unless it's Dark Souls or God of War.) and bought Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed.

before that though, i did try to get into Sonic games by buying Sonic Chronicles: the dark brotherhood. I stopped playing it immediatly after I found out it was an RPG but i took it on holiday and beat it then.

and then the comics: i tried getting into the Fleetway comics, which as of issue 12 where i'm up to, nothing has happened yet. like, at all. it would be 100% bona fide boring if not for the Decap Attack strips. But i'm up to date on my Archie Comics, just Sonic Universe and the main series.

I recently bought SA1 and 2 for my PC (SA2 runs so slow it's not even funny, and i only bought it to see if there was a mod out there that removed the levels i really hate. which there isn't.) and am writing a Sonic fanfiction that i've had to reboot to accomodate changes.

FUS was just a website i found when one of my fanfiction-writing crazes was "my own version of Sonic SatAM Season 3." luckily that manuscript shall never leave my PC because it has the potential to be even worse than Sonic 2006. but FUS is a somewhat reliable source of Sonic News so i stick around, and the forum topics are interesting aswell.
