When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Hey all! I'm new to FUS and I've loved everything about it so far! Just as a startin' topic I was wondering what is your favorite Sonic era? (Classic, Dreamcast, Modern)

My most beloved period was the Dreamcast era with the Sonic Adventure series, but as a wee laddy I didn't understand and was quite annoyed that the SatAM cast wasn't included.

I guess my favorite would be the Dreamcast/Gamecube era.

Dreamcast/GC era was the best. Though i must admit the past 4 years have been good as well
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Sonic Heroes isn't a Dreamcast game. Let's call it the Green Eyes era.

Classical.

If I have to chose eliminate DC era or Classical, even DC is awesome, the classical is outstanding.

From the dreamcast era there is 3 epic titles (altought I'm sure people will disagree in the last one) : SA 1, SA2 , Sonic Shuffle and some good games. Anyway talking away from Sonic, DC era have Shenmue too...Is hard to chose because both are very good.

From the classical era there is over 9000 epic games.

DC era:

Plus:

I could add here Sonic Riders, and for the haters Sonic Heroes (but I find it pretty bored)

And if you want call it green eyes era

Plus:

That well, SAdvances and Battle was good enough.

But anyway, even this era is epic the classical is just better in most of the aspects. The only thing I disagree is about the story, because SA 1 & SA2 stories are just epic.

Classical era:

I won't talk about everyone because I will make a huge post, I just will say most of in that list are just awesome. More funier and better music.

So yea, Dreamcast/GC was my jam, but I would have to say modern is my favorite ONLY BECAUSE OF GENERATIONS. I can play classic mode on full 3D levels, I can play modern mode on classic levels and I can play Sonic 1 from the genesis on the same disk. It can't get much better than that.

Eh, I think I would've liked Generations if it actually had a decent story to it. I realize all in all it was an anniversary game dedicated to the fastest thing alive, and it had good gameplay and visuals to boot. It's just that the whole idea of an unknown "time-eating monster" was quite weak imo (That or it could've been executed better).

I agree, but I'm one of those gamers that couldn't give two shits about story unless that's the ONLY reason I buy the game (Like Heavy Rain). The thing I focus most on is the gameplay(mechanics, level design, gimmicks, etc.), the music and the overall fun factor. Needless to say, it delivered.

I'd have to say DC/GC, never played the DC, but I got the SA's on GC, and those are my favorite sonic games.

I'd like Classic, with the Genesis more, but I was more of a Nintendo person at that time, (still am a more nintendo person)

I'm the opposite. If the story isn't any good, I don't care how wonderful the gameplay is, it's boring. I'm not one to care about my time, point score, or achievements. When competing against my friends, yeah they matter, but just to play through the game, I don't really give a *butterscotch*.
Now games with crappy gameplay aren't good either, but between the two I'd like a story and bad gameplay (note: not broken and/or impossible to play now gameplay) then good gameplay and no story.

I'd have to say the DC/GC era for me; mostly because of nostalgia. I had lots of fun with nearly all the games in my collection.

It all started way back in 2002, when my younger brother bought us a GameCube (which also came with a copy of "Mario Kart: Double Dash" and "Super Mario Sunshine"). We had a blast playing it, but it left us wanting more games to play. So sometime later, we bought a copy of "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle". I was sceptical at first, but as time went on, we got to enjoy the game for what it had to offer (we even enjoyed the treasure-hunting and mech-shooting stages). Curious for more, we later bought "Sonic Adventure DX", the "Sonic Mega Collection", and the newest release at that year "Sonic Heroes".

That era was a blast! I grew to like the gameplay, the characters, and especially the music. "Sonic Heroes" was a guilty pleasure, I still have fun playing it to this day. It's kinda like "Sonic 3D Blast" for the Classic Era; a game with clunky gameplay but lots of enjoyment once you get the hang of it.

The "Sonic Mega Collection" not only introduced me to the classic games, but also the Archie comics with the "Sonic's Firsts" special included with the game. That was where I came to know characters like Sally, Antoine, Rotor, and Snively. It wasn't until years later that I learned about the original show itself (thanks to the Nostalgia Critic).

Sadly, this era came to an end when "Shadow the Hedgehog" came out. :icon_sad:

i'm kinda half-modern/half dreamcast here. gameplay wise i love Sonic Adventure and anything resembling Sonic Adventure in even the slightest (except Sonic Adventure 2, fuck security hall to hell!) while i do appreciate the scope and ambition of titles like 2006 or Unleashed despite their glaring flaws like bug and glitches or linear level design.

heres a neat drinking game i made up: while playing Sonic Generations, take a shot every time you wish you were playing a different game because the story in Generations is just plain terrible. it's the best drinking game because you can drink and drink and drink and you'll still not be drunk or stupid enough to play Sonic 2006.

personally, my theory was that the Time Eater is some Guardian created by Solaris but when Solaris was made unexistant, it went out of control and was captured by Eggman. but i'll give eternal undying appreciation to someone who can come up with a better origin story.

just ot recap: Period of Awesomeness: Sonic Adventure (skip a few), Sonic 2006-Generations

Really? Yikes! That is scary.

But than again, "Sonic Adventure 2" was the starting point for many newer fans to the franchise, so maybe it's just a coincidence.

"Sonic Unleashed" might've had its share of flaws, but than again, no game's perfect. Heck, most people dislike half of "Sonic Adventure" because of characters like Amy, Gamma, and Big. And yet that game still gets lots of praise from fans and critics alike.

For me, "Unleashed" was the first Sonic game in years that felt like an actual Sonic game. I love the atmosphere and character designs, I like the day-time stages, and the story was decent for once. I also didn't mind the Werehog stages. Yeah, they're kinda repetitive and frustrating, but they're still playable (unlike '06). It renewed my interest in the games and I enjoyed it for what it had to offer.

Actually, Ian Flynn has recently confirmed that the Time Eater was made up of leftover matter from Mephiles when Solaris was defeated. That would explain their similar appearance. And since the being can travel through time, it wasn't affected by the reset towards the game's climax.

Oh man, sometimes I really feel displaced.
No one started with the beautiful voice of J.Davis or the epic music from Richard Jacques and Michael J, or moving the body at the rhythm of the Jungle Zone, bridge zone or the Special Stage of the Sonic of 16 bits? The vomitive special stage of Sonic 1 that made my dizzy...playing with my brother the Sonic 2 with 2 controllers, switching off the console when the metallic dragon of Sonic Spinball try to eat me...ah...NOSTALGIA ATTACK . I won't argue about this, I know your feelings and why you preferc GC/DC era...

Is my truly real problem, I'm displaced of my generation, totally displaced. Not only here, in the real life too. Too much Nintendo nerd (I refer at the group that thinks that nintendo is awesome, all the games are awesome and other game sux), I had to survive to the Pokemon wave, the people of my age know only PRO or FIFA or COD...Is just...I don't know how to explain. The only one that I could speak about games without being observed as weird was with my brother who I made a really strong link with him thanks to videogames. We still play games like Cadillac and dinosaur, Street of rage, Dungeon & Dragons, Golden Axe, Bomberman or the Wonderboy series and of course Sonic or the old Street Figther when Ryu soryuken was dammit OP.

I really wonder what would hapenned if I had born 10 years before. I think I could fit better than in this generation but anyway...maybe I couldn't know all of you if I had born 10 years before, so is fine right now. I'm happy what I have and the friends I made in my life even if I don't fit here
