There's still Snively though. He looks just as human as Gollum did in "Lord of the Rings".

Cartoon/comic relief character tend to be more silly looking than the rest. But even if he was more ''Mobian'' looking, i still see the Mobian and the human/Overlanders has two totally different races (one person cannot represent an entire race after all). Even the Echidnas are more or less their own species as well. In the case of the Echidnas, they are closer to the average Mobian, but seem to have evolve in their own way too, making them semi-Mobian (i will say it like that because of a lack of better term to explain it)

I can't stand it when people keep claiming this is bestiality. I don't like this pairing either but I do not go THAT far. Sonic can think just as well as any other human can. Saying this is bestiality is like saying interracial couples are bestiality as well.
A petition to keep up to a third of the characters in the sonic comics from being lost forever.

To those who want to give this "new direction" a chance, don't say I didn't warn you.

Setting aside the fact that the word specifically refers to....er...certain physical acts, which obviously were neither present nor remotely implied in the game...
The definition is based off of our own world, in which humans are the only sentient species native to Earth. The distinction drawn between humans and animals is a matter of sentience, of having a soul (whether a literal thing or merely abstract concept, depending on one's beliefs). Sonic clearly possesses these qualities. As such, though a hedgehog and clearly based in part off of a real-world nonsentient animal, Sonic isn't an animal any more than Elise is. It would be much more appropriate to liken him to an alien; whether one considers the romantic pairing of a human and alien to be acceptable is up for debate, but the concept seems more palatable than outright bestiality.
The Sonic and Elise pairing is certainly stupid, given the lack of chemistry between the two as well as the fact that Sega should have been well aware that it would generate controversy, but I never found it disgusting. Heck, I still prefer it over SonAmy, as Elise, though undoubtedly a poor character, at least manages to not actively annoy me with every breath she draws.
It's also worth noting that I first played 06 well before being exposed to SatAM (barring a few episodes I had seen years earlier and barely remembered), so my undying love of SonSal was not a factor. ![]()

I'm just saying by textbook deffinition it is.
Hell (and i cant believe im about to say this) I'd rather have Amy kissing Sonic in that scene

Honestly as a pairing I prefer SonAmy to Son....whatever you call Sonic and Elise.
HOWEVER: Maybe it's me growing up with cartoons where even the animal characters could fall for a human girl (Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Disney, etc. All of their cartoons contained aspects like that), that I don't find this "Bestiality".
Also the two "textbook" definitions of "Bestiality" don't actually cover this. And if it somehow did, that means any kiss to anyone including family members and boy/girlfriends would suddenly be consider a sexual act.

But that's not among the textbook definitions of the word.

And that's the whole debate. But that's not among the textbook definitions of the word.
Long story short: You either don't care, or you hate it.
