Can you blame Ian for this? He was forced to do this because of the lawsuit. If he defied a major mandate from either Archie or SEGA, he probably be booted off as head writer of the comic. At least Ian didn't killed or written off most of Ken Pender's creations in a horrible fashion. Unless Thrash uses the warp ring to teleport the Echidnas to a location for their deaths. Though I wonder what would he do with Alicia Acorn, Sonic's Parents, Tail's Parents, Leeta, Lyco, and Harvey Who since they're Ken's creations and are recently important to the arc and the past.

Is there any evidence that proves the courts ruled that the comic cannot use these characters anymore?

You know, it really looks like this is just Archie Sonic flipping the bird at Penders by taking out his characters for spite as a result of his lawsuit.

Well that explains most of the fans who have grown up with the title for the past 20 years then.

Well the thing is we don't know the exact details behind all this. I think if they were getting rid of these characters for good, it's possible it would of been flat out stated. It's possible that for the time being, they are being put away so something can be worked out. And that's if this is down to the whole Ken Penders thing. This is just the Echidna characters afterall, and and Ken "pedophile moustache" Penders has created other characters that are still being used in the comic. It's possible that he just wants flat out control of the Echidna characters and doesn't really care much about the others since I believe it's been stated that the Knuckles comic was Ken's baby hence why he wants all those characters.

However, I think it's a fuckin shame that Archie seems to have given in to this bat shit insane weirdo. I mean these are just secondary characters in a licensed comic afterall. This isn't exactly a big a deal as some of the creators of characters like Superman or Ghostrider have had to go through with the likes of Marvel and DC. And these be actual original creations, not recoloured Echindas based off a character from a video game.

Penders just wants them for some Graphic Novel he is writing using the Echidnas as characters (his plot is terrible from what i have heard) and the fact that the characters are licensed by Archie means that Penders is (theoretically) losing a fight that he clearly was gonna lose in
