What I feel could happen (depending on when/if we find out the details on the settlement agreement), is one of many possibilites.

1. The characters could return, but like when they say in the fine print on the first page of the comic, that Sonic, Sally, etc.. are copyright of Sega, they could do the same with Ken Penders characters. Example, Julie-Su, Hershey, etc.. are Copyright of Ken Penders, and by doing so, they can still use them, and at the same time, Ken could get paid for it.

2. All the characters, events and stories that Ken created and wrote for the comic, could become "True" parts of the counitny. In other words, MYL's could become the "True" Future like he intended it to be, whither we as fans or those working on the comic like it or not. Other events could be added and focused more on in the comic. As well as characters as well.

3. If Archie and Ian can use his characters again, as mentioned above. Another possibilite could be that when they are to be used in a story for an issue, that Archie and Ian could consult Ken on their ideas of how they plan to use the character/s in the story and see if he likes it or/and if he feels this what they should do or add to their idea.

Again these are all possibilites that could occur/happen, depending on what the agreements of the settlement where.

Penders suing for the rights of the characters he created back.

Personally I think the outcome will be like this....
Penders will get the rights to some of his characters, who will then be either killed off or dropped thus Archie won't have to pay him to use them.

Wait if they cant use Penders characters that means St. John will be killed off... YES!!

Technically all SEGA Sonic Characters belong to SEGA, but the other characters created during the course of the comic are up for grabs based on the trial.

So Penders does have somewhat of a case. But arent all Archie characters are owned by Archie and whoever the writers make forfeit most of the rights to it??

That is what the case is about. Apparently Penders never agreed to those terms.

So correct me if I'm wrong. While the Archie comics are developed this guy created some characters and claim the copyright?. Can someone post some images of the characters that he creates so I can judge if are original or just copies of Sonic characters?

Well, a few of them were "original" like Geoffrey St. John, who looked enough like a Sonic character (especially a SatAM-like character) to fit in well with the rest of the cast (at the time he was introduced), while still not obviously ripping off any specific character. I've never liked the guy, mind you, but he never seemed out of place. But many of his characters, like Julie-Su, were echidnas, which meant they were essentially tweaked versions of Knuckles. Y'know all those Sonic fan recolors out there? Yep, Ken was doing that as part of his job. Mind you, it's hard to blame him. I mean, if you're going to write a story about echidnas and your only point of reference as to what an echidna looks like in your universe is one character, it's not a surprise that the rest are going to look like that one character. Where it gets CrAaAaAzY, though, is when Ken claims that characters like Julie-Su are not based on Sega's intellectual property, even though they clearly borrowed the Knuckles design. He's trying to make his own graphic novel with characters like Julie-Su and their friends and relatives without redesigning them to not be Knuckles knockoffs. Somehow I doubt he's going to get away with that even if he wins this court case.

I saw Geoffry. The last comic I read was the issue #50...the others I don't know...but I don't really like those futuristic characters with guns. Hapens the same with Shadow in videogames. In SA 2 was totaly cool character and suddenly...boom. He uses guns and those badass stuff...He is not a badass, he was a cool emo (btw is off-topic, ignore this last part )

This isn't official, but a Sonic fan told me in the latest issue, most of the echidna race, including Julie-Su and Lien-Da were just erased from the story by Thrash with a warp ring.

If that is indeed true, my contempt for Ian just went up 100 fold.

Same for Penders too since he started this crap.

That could also be false too. I mean was his source credible. And i highly doubt they would erase ALL echidnas

Knuckles will never be erased from the comic.

Anyhow, I'll ask this guy if he has a link, but it sounds like it's actually legit.

The last line Flynn says just makes my blood boil. Enjoy the comic for what it is? Yea, fat chance when alot of our favorite characters are getting treated like dirt!

Ok, technically that could be true, but it sure doesn't look that way. By the way Flynn is talking, it sounds like it's permanent.
