I have been wondering this for awhile now. The games have picked up recently after the little decline it had between '05-'07, The comics (seems) to be doing well (plus the Mega Man crossover should be interesting), and everything seems to be going well in general. But i am still wondering "what they will do next??"

A few things i have been wondering are:

• Will there be a new Sonic cartoon/anime (Hopefully it wont be as bad as Sonic X)
• What will the games will be about next??
• Will there ever be a Sonic and Mario video game that ISNT the Olympic Games.
• What else can we expect??

So everyone post your ideas and opinions on what do you think SEGA will do next with Sonic

I think a cool idea for SEGA would be remakes of SA and SA2 for the 3DS.

• Since SEGA is trying to market Sonic everywhere I'd actually be surprised if they DIDN'T make a new Cartoon
• Hopefully they'll a Sonic Adventure 3 game. Or Remake one of the Older Games HD.
• Probably Not. I would like a new Mario/Sonic game that isn't Olympics, but I doubt it.
• Hopefully they'll do something big.

They got the momentum to do something big. i heard a rumor that Miyamotto is working on something with SEGA so dunno if its true or not (doubt it).
I wonder what the next cartoon will be

and im fuming about SatAM actually had better ratings than what we were told

All depends if Nintendo finaly buy SEGA.

If SEGA keep away from Nintendo, they don't have enough money for sucessful games like Shenmue III or another good one...so I'm sure SEGA will keep trying living by Sonic 4 episode 12415, Vintage remakes and crappy items.

If Nintendo buy SEGA they can get enough money to make good games. Nintendo won't let release games with bugs like Sonic '06 and maybe we will see more Mario/Sonic crossover.

Are rumors, but I really think SEGA must move cleverly, because He can't live from his Vintages remake forever, more when Sonic videogames all are remaked already.

Don't forget that the "I don't remember the name" wanna make his own Sonic...again they will try a new Sonic when next-generation consoles are incoming, when is known that Sonic next-generations jumps were horrible, only in the jump of the Dreamcast era He success.

About other world like comics/anime...I don't really know those worlds...so nothing to add.

I'd rather NOT have SEGA be bought by NIntendo, because their games would only appear on Nintendo Consoles.

And I have better things to buy than a Wii U.

Well, I know are rumors, but is not the first time SEGA join with Nintendo, you can see the result like Sonic advance saga. or the exclusivity of Sonic Adventure 2 on GameCube, crossover on the Olympics games etc...Wathever you want to think. I don't trust on rumors, but is true that Nintendo and SEGA aren't very far of each other.

In my opinion, if they gather, will be a nice jump for both company. Both are living by old games and are going down. Nintendo? Zelda, Mario, pokemon, Phoenix W. and another minors character....I don't have it but also are good comentaries about the Zombie U. SEGA? Sonic, Sonic and Sonic, why? They have the balls to leave another legend: Shenmue. The only other saga the could work.

Mario, new super mario bros, new new new supermario bros, [insert news] Super mario bros. Sega: Remake Sonic adventure 1, remake sonic adventure 2, sonic generations (that obviously another remake).

Like I said, both companys need a refresh.

That being said, the videogames can't do much at the moment. They've trapped both Eggheads into a null void and since there is no reset like in 06, they need to think of a way to get them out (back to the ever-expanding Story Board).

as for Sonic and Mario, I think the only reasons they made those games were because The Olympics needed a friendly face to intrigue kids, it was relevant because Michael Phelps was winning ALL the golds! and because people have been BEGGING for a Mario and Sonic game. Now... not so much. I think the Mario v. Sonic craze is over and I look forward to both competitors bringing games instead of medals to the table.

Cartoonwise, There will always be a new cartoon. Sonic is too much of a cash cow for Sega to just use in videogames. They will use and abuse him to get money in any way possible... and I'm strangely OK with that. It just means we get more sonic! Whether it be good or bad, don't you dare tell me you didn't get hyped at the mention of Sonic-X prerelease.

The only other thing I can expect from sega is for it to do what nintendon't.

They Stranded Eggman in space, in barren wastelands with no escape, heck they killed him in some of the Shadow Endings. He'll escape. And technically...they may not even explains how.

Personally, I just get this gut feeling that there's a Sonic Adventure 3 in the making. Think about it:

- Sonic Adventure 2 was just released onto PSN and XBOX Arcade, thus making both Adventure games available for a new generation to play

- There are some individuals affiliated with Sega which were interviewed saying they'd like to rekindle the rivalry between Sonic and Mario. This, I believe is only possible with a solid core sonic game much like the adventure titles

- There's the rumored "Sonic reboot" which may or may not be true, but a significant game would have to play the role as a reboot title in order to be successful

- Sega hired the new voice actors for their side characters a few years ago, are they gonna use them?? There were brief lines in Generations, but why go through all that trouble hiring new voice actors if you're not gonna use the characters? The Adventure games are known for incorporating many characters, and if done correctly, can make for an interesting story

I feel like Sega has been fine tuning their level design, starting with the day levels in Unleashed and making needed adjustments leading up to the levels in Generations, a game many consider a success for Sonic.

The one thing that is commonly known is that in 2013, Sega has announced a new boxed mainstream sonic game, the question is what will it be? I'm gonna say they will use their fine-tuned level design and incorporate it into a new Sonic Adventure.

One can only hope!

First. Sonic reboot is not a rumor. I said that "I don't remember chinese names so I can't say who was" said clearly " I want make a new Sonic, my Sonic"

I read it yesterday...As you, I hope it's true, but We expect a very good game from "Sonic Adventure 3" so I hope will be a good game and not trash, because if is trash, will really hurt the fans...also Izuka want create a new Sonic, his Sonic. Let's see the "new Sonic", because I'm sure will appear in the next game, and will be dangerous if his new Sonic appear on SA3, because we expect a lot from that game.

In 1994, start the negative critics after Sonic 3 and with that another style of games. (Spinball , 3D or R)
In 2004, start the negative critics after Sonic Heroes and again another style of game
In 2014, Altough Sonic Generations, and Sonic 4 (for me the only good games after SA2) Sonic have negative critics maybe all born with Sonic'06. Rumor a reboot...Izuka want a new Sonic.

I'm afraid what will happens now, Also in the rumor said a very important reboot. Can be a big succes, or a big failure...and If is a big failure, can be the last Sonic game, because I'm sure if Izuka fail, he won't stay on Sonic Team, and the fans (at least me) hardly will trust in a new Sonic, like we saw on 2006, and saw 2014 (if the game fail).

That's why I hope this new Sonic don't appear if SA3 appears, because I don't know all the people but I expect a lot of this game, and if appear another game like Sonic'06, I won't play again another Sonic game that is older than SA2.

I want to add that now have the chance of create a Sonic Adventure 3 because of the broken exclusivity of Nintendo. Normal people start playing the first game serie before the last. If you wanna play Sonic Adventure 1, You had to have a DREAMCAST, if you don't have it, you won't start from SA 3, so is better call it for example "Sonic Heroes" instead of call it SA 3. Shenmue hapens the same. I will post at the end of this post the theory about "Sonic Heroes" = "SA3". You can trust it or no, but we will never know if Heroes is SA 3 or not...anyway is not relevant

Right now, that problem doesn't really matter...most of the game are multi-plataform for all the consoles, but years ago was a very important factor.

Also SEGA is not having good moments...the proof? They dissapear from EU. Only the most important countries have a SEGA office.

Si os acordáis, al final de Sonic Adventure 2 aparecía un mensaje que decía “A new day brings new adventure, but for now rest easy heroes” Que traducido quiere decir: “Un nuevo día nos traerá nuevas aventuras, pero por ahora descansad tranquilos héroes” La ultima palabra que leemos en Sonic Adventure 2, tras el ending y los créditos es la palabra “heroes”, y la frase hace referencia a “nuevas aventuras” Osea un nuevo “Adventure”. No seria descabellado pensar que Naka quiso esconder en el titulo del juego un mensaje basado en esa frase para que los fans supiéramos que Sonic Heroes era Sonic Adventure 3. Y todavía queda algo mas, si os fijáis en el artwork de Sonic que acompaña este articulo, veréis que es el que aparece en la portada de Sonic Heroes. Fijaos en la mano de Sonic, tiene justo tres dedos extendidos… Igual que en el artwork de la portada del Sonic 3 japonés. ¿Quería decirnos algo Sonic con ese gesto? Quien sabe…

Well recently i saw something (and the boards here) said that the "reboot" was an overblown rumor and that it "was discussed"

All i know is that the game they are making now has probably been in the works for the past 1-3 years.

Reboot is an overblow rumor born from the real true words "I want make a new Sonic, my Sonic" from Takashi Izuka, producer of Sonic Team.

So...is true or not? Time will say it. If the producer say that he want create a new Sonic doesn't mean he can/will do it. Also create a new Sonic doesn't mean reboot all the game...I read things like "In the reboot, all the old characters will dissapear and Sonic will make new friends" obviusly bullshit...Is like that....reboot, delete...all is bullshit. The only thing true is that Takashi Izuka said he want create a new Sonic, nothing more
