@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

It was probably ABC had a falling out with the Crew in charge of the show.

More like ABC had a bad habit of not keeping any shows beyond 2 seasons.
*Points to Reboot, which actually -had- a 3rd season but ABC choose not to pick it up, as an example*

And this is why i prefer CBS...
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Well that's not exactly true as they aired The Real Ghostbusters for six seasons. I guess there was the odd show here and there that was an exception.

It's more then likely there was an management change at ABC and the new person in charge wanted to change the lineup with stuff they thought would work.

DiC should've given this show to Fox.

They might have presented it to FOX and they didn't want it.

FOX Is also known for cancelling shows that aren't their own original ideas.

Well my idea was to win the lottery and throw a couple million to get it on air but thats highly unrealistic...

Family Guy wasn't FOX's idea. It was Cartoon Network's.

It was Seth MacFarlane's. Cartoon Network just aired what was sort of a pilot for it.

Family Guy wasn't FOX's idea. It was Cartoon Network's.

I think you mean Seth MacFarlane worked for Cartoon Network before developing Family Guy. But if you mean that short cartoon "Larry and Steve" which aired on Cartoon Network, that's not the genesis of Family Guy since Seth had created a cartoon called "The Life of Larry" as his thesis film while he was at Rhode Island School of Design and "The Life of Larry" features both Larry and Steve and has a lot of jokes which ended up being used in the pilot episode of Family Guy.

So no, Family Guy wasn't Cartoon Network's idea.

Wouldn't be the first time a network's made a bone-headed move. Look at NBC. They cancelled Harry's Law, the second highest rated show on their channel at the time, after its second spectacular season.

Yeah, the first time I was ever legitimately excited to watch a show about lawyers, and it gets canned after two seasons.

SATam shoulda aired on Nickolodeon back then. Cause apparently SpongeBob's still thriving and coughin up new episodes after almost 14 years LOL. Thing is, SpongeBob has crude and slapstick humor, SATam didn't. So i guess that kinda stuff sells compared to good wholesome entertainment

I want that man's ass on a silver platter or I'm taking a dump in Bob Iger's sink.

LMAO

An very rare photo of the late singer Aaliyah next to a statue of Sonic...

Wouldn't have worked back then. Remember what era we're dealing with: as of 1993-1995 or so, the money in children's animation was still almost exclusively to be found in producing a Saturday morning cartoon show (or afternoon, if certain companies were backing you) and hope to get it into syndication.

Back then, Nickelodeon wasn't producing many of it's own series; like most cable networks, it focused more on importing series that were already complete or were simply unfamiliar to American audiences. This is why a lot of early 90's Nickelodeon included shows that were brought over from England, or had had runs on regular networks earlier. Simply put, it was cheaper and smarter back then to run old shows on cable: it's why people who are 25-35 today grew up knowing a lot of the cartoons and shows their parents watched.

There were exceptions, of course, as around this time Nick began the Nicktoons lineup (originally just Doug, Rugrats, and Ren and Stimpy), but that was it. They produced a few of their own original live-action shows, but for animation, that was all.

Hence, SatAM, being a property associated with the most popular gaming series in the US at that point, was going to live or die on network TV, not cable, back in the early 90's.

Sadly, both SatAM and ReBoot suffered a similar fate on ABC back then: the Disney takeover led to the new suits in charge wanting to overhaul ABC's offerings and replace them all with Disney-backed properties, as a way of expanding Disney's TV presence. Neither show had a chance once the takeover happened.

Thankfully ReBoot still had a backer in the form of YTV in Canada, and eventually Cartoon Network in the US, but SatAM wasn't so lucky. The funny part is that it's a series that likely could've thrived in an environment like today's cable world, given the success (both ratings-wise and critically) of series such as the Avatar cartoons.
