This is my overview/review and in written/typed form, for Sonic Super Special # 5 : The Poster Spectacular Edition for November/December/January 2012 and 13.
Spoiler
I will say this, just like the super specials they came before, it does stay the same. I mean it's got its news flash section, it's interview section, its letters page, and just about all the other sections you would come to expect from these new super special magazines.
And of course, you can't have one of these super specials without showcasing an enlarged reprint of two main stories from previous issues. The first reprint is from issue 198, which is basically the start of the three-part 200th anniversary arc, which of course took place a month before the Iron Dominion arc that lasted for about a year if not a month extra in the comics. The second story that gets a reprint in this super special, is the main story for issue 216, which featured the return of Rotor's family and the Arctic Freedom Fighters. Those were the two stories that were reprinted along with all the other sections that you have come to expect from these super special magazines along with this issue's dedication to being mostly about posters based on certain/selective covers of different issues from the main comic and from the universe, etc.. spinoffs.
From what I read and what was described in the index, you get about 51 pages dedicated to these posters. Now the covers that were selected to become posters in this issue, many of us may have seen coming just due to the artwork, and some we may have not seen coming.
The list of covers given the poster treatment are as followed :
the 225th anniversary issue
The Darkest Storm arc
issue 230
issue 231
issue 237
issue 238
issue 249 (I think)
one of the sonic legacy covers (#3)
the cover for one of the issues in the Enerjak Reborn Saga (#182)
the cover which featured Scrouge's debut (#161)
2 covers from the treasure team tango arc
the cover for the sonic comic encyclopedia
cover for the best of sonic the hedgehog book
first issue of sonic universe
sonic universe issue nine
all 4 covers of the Genesis arc
sonic archives number 17
knuckles archive number 2
the cover from free comic book Day 2011
and of course the cover for this issue.
Now most of these are kind of stuck with each other, which means if you get one or two or even three copies of this issue, be careful on how you pull these posters out.
But yeah, we get quite a supply of posters that are covers from Ian Flynn's current run, basically from when he began to currently right now. And I have to admit that the selection for the covers to get the poster treatment is pretty damn impressive.
My advice to anyone that has or will purchase this issue of the sonic super special just for the posters, my advice and suggestion would be to buy maybe up to three or even four copies of this magazine, so that you will have one completely untouched and still with the posters intact, while you can use the other two or three copies you have to carefully take the posters out and hang them on your wall or if you prefer to buy frames first and then hang them on your wall that would be a good idea too. But that is just my advice and suggestion to you, because I will probably be doing the same down the line.
I know that some people will reserve judgment for this issue. Some may say or even think that it's just an issue to feed Ian Flynn's ego. All because the covers that were selected to get the poster treatment all were created and drawn during Ian's current run. And the reason they may feel that way, is because and I have to admit this is true out of all the covers that were given the poster treatment in this issue, Archie comics had well over 240 issues worth of covers during and before Ian Flynn's current run, and I'm sure by looking at that there will be those that will feel as I mentioned above that this issue was nothing more than a way to glorify Ian's run.
However, there will be those that may feel that way and may not feel that way but will be in agreement that the selection of covers that were given this treatment as I said above is pretty damn impressive. And one has to realize, that even though certain covers that proceeded Ian's current run could have been given the same treatment, let's remember one thing, this will not be the last time that this super specials or at least one of the issues is dedicated to giving covers of sonic related issues in the universe, the main comic and its numerous spinoffs this poster treatment. So I say be happy for what we got, because let's be honest I don't remember once before Ian came on board, like him or not, that we ever had some kind of book or magazine with poster renditions of certain issue covers.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good release for the super special magazine, and I hope to see them do this again down the line and perhaps, perhaps give older issues and spinoffs the same kind of treatment when it comes to making posters of certain covers and more so I think they should let the fans get involved and vote for the covers they want to be posterized next.

That's all I'm going to say, thank you all for reading.
