@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

yea tha.....wait Chain chomps in Zelda??
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

And Wario was also featured in a crossover game with Bomberman

I think that one happened because there was a (rather tenuous) association of Wario with bombs at the time. One of the minigames in Wario Land involved him throwing bombs, and I think there was some other time where he was seen with a bomb, so somebody must have thought, "I know, Wario likes bombs! Let's put him in a game with Bomberman!"

yea tha.....wait Chain chomps in Zelda??

In Link's Awakening, at least. What's really odd is that it's treated as a dog, and I think it's even called a dog. It makes rather more sense if you know that the Japanese name for the chain chomp is "wan wan", which is Japanese for "bow wow" or "woof woof". (Chain chomps were also inspired by Shigeru Miyamoto's experience with a fierce dog who was restrained by a chain -- real nasty if you're close, but harmless at a distance.) And of course the whole game takes place in a dream world, so things can get a bit stranger than usual.

I still can't get over the fact that "Conker's Bad Fur Day" takes place within the Mario universe; they seem like completely different universes.

Half true. It used to be the same universe, however since Rare was dropped, Banjo-Kazooie and Conkers have been retconned out.

Actually, there's still some evidence to support them existing in the same universe. In "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts", Mario is mentioned indirectly several times and Banjo recalls racing with a genie and a giant pig (a reference to "Diddy Kong Racing"). Banjo and Conker are even mentioned as being close friends to Diddy Kong from neighboring islands.

Yes and Nintendo was not happy about those references.

Yes and Nintendo was not happy about those references.

Why's that? Are they really that concerned with their franchises' connections with WareRare? They're the ones that brought back Donkey Kong into popularity, and they still use elements from the "Country" series.

If they're that uptight about it, how come we don't hear them complaining about stuff like Mario's portrayal and Donkey Kong's death in "The Simpsons Game", even though they were parodies?

I forget the reasons, but Nintendo didn't like the references in Nuts and Bolts.

With all this crossover talk, I decided to show you this.

My reaction to watching this video: :jaw-dropping:

But if I were to find a minor nitpick, the boxer resembling Mike Tyson in "Street Fighter" isn't the actual Tyson from "Punch Out!!". The character's actual name is Mike Bison (or Balrog), so that kinda breaks the chain in crossover connections.

But everything else, whoa!

Strangely, Mike in SF1 and M. Bison/Balrog in SF2 are considered two separate characters (both in and outside Japan). Though they were probably intended to be the same character and they retconned it later on to reduce their chances of getting sued.

I felt that was stupid too. Well now I'll probably spend the rest of my life hoping for games like God of War: Spongebob Edition, Resident Mario, My Little Duke Nukem and Earthworm Jim, and Kirby and GlaDOS' Candy Land Adventure!

Just making up random games.

This was my idea for a Mario/Sonic game.
Eggman stumbles upon another dimension (Mario's world). He meets Bowser, and the two agree to team up to take over both Sonic and Mario's worlds, so Sonic and Mario team up. There would be 50 levels with 2 acts each. Act 1 is a Mario level (Gameplay is similar to Mario 64 and Mario 3-D Land) and Act 2 is Sonic (gameplay is like Colors, Unleashed Daytime and Modern Generations). For the final boss, Bowser betrays Eggman and absorbs the negative energy of the Chaos Emeralds, turning him into Giga Bowser from Smash Bros. Sonic becomes Super Sonic and Mario's power is also increased and he becomes Mega Mario or Ultra Mario or Super Super Mario. They beat Bowser, save the day, and return to their worlds.

Upon my second viewing of the video, I came across several problems. While there is evidence for various videogame connections, some of the games he listed aren't that authentic. Both the "Tony Hawk" and "Everybody's Golf" games contain secret characters, but they're there just as unlockable Easter Eggs; not actual crossovers. Most spin-off games like these are considered non-canon by most standards.

Guys. They're just references/cameos to other games. They're not meant to have any connections.
Chill out.

It'd be like sonic generations, but instead of choosing his past-self, eggman chooses willy.
