What about posting just the first few pages of Chapter 1, as a sample? Sketches would help as well, of course, but there should be a demonstration of what the comic itself is actually like. The way that the following article is set up is a great example, though adding in additional single-panel "screenshots" of the comic highlighting various locations, characters, etc. would be even better (though they would have to be carefully kept spoiler-free).
http://www.sonicstad...m-sea3on-comic/Methods of reaching SatAM fans that don't normally visit DA and other sources of fan content are also important. Personally, I only checked out Sea3on reluctantly, expecting it to be terrible solely on the grounds that it was fan-made. There's an enormous stigma against fan fiction in general, and that's doubly true for certain franchises like Sonic. I came
so close to ignoring that banner on the FUS homepage and going on my merry way, even though the comic had me hooked after the first few pages and bawling my eyes out by the end of the first chapter.
Getting the series animated will definitely help in this regard, as more people will be willing to check out something in that format. Regardless of its disputed quality,
everybody saw or at least heard of the fan film released earlier this year.
