Been keeping an eye on this one myself. It was bound to happen sooner of later because pretty much every other 70s and 80s horror franchise has had a remake in the past 10 years, but hopefully Evil Dead will be different because Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are actually invovled behind the scenes, the creators of the franchise are there to keep it on the right path.
My only beef with this is that it seems the movie lacks the dark sense of humor that the Evil Dead series is known and loved for, but again this is just a trailer, the movie could be rammed with it.
"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

"Everyone creates the thing that they dread. Men of peace create engines of war. Invaders create Avengers. People create... smaller people...? CHILDREN! (chuckles) Lost the word there..."

That's not entirely correctYou forget Prime, the first movie had no humor at all.
Evil Dead, while it was in many respects straightforward horror, had a sort of attitude of gleeful excess about its invocation of slasher and horror tropes. From the grotesque tree rape, the lingering shots of the skull knife puking pus out of a zombie's back, to blood dripping from the ceiling onto the film projector lens and a professor intoning the phrase, "act of bodily dismemberment"--however frightened you were, part of you always recognized that you're watching a film that some gonzo horror afficionados had a ton of fun making. Additionally, Ashley was a deliberately pussified, comical protagonist--the feminine-sounding name, his comical reaction shot when first passing the rickety bridge, "God forgive me, Linda!"
ED2 is my least favorite of the three films, in large part because it struck me as a clunky affair made for people who couldn't "get the joke" in ED, but without fully embracing the farce of Army of Darkness. I'm sorry if you love the chainsaw hand; who doesn't, but it was put to more entertaining use in Army.
Some people like to say that it's because the original film was made on a shoestring budget that you like it more. That's not entirely true. But there are lots of hard-to-precisely-quantify things about the film and its potential audience that have changed. What I want to say is just that watching this trailer, I feel like it's not fun anymore. It's another dark (like, visually hard to see) CGI fest, with the bonus that it's one in a long line of ineffective remakes of horror classics from the same period.

No, no. It was in there, just very very little of it and was disguised. Like when Cheryl has her little encounter in the woods and gets her little surprise. Her reaction is cross-eyed and I always find out to be a funny moment given the situation. Sure the first Evil Dead is straight up horror while the sequels added in comedy, but first first does have a few dark comedy moments itself.
