... It's amazing how this 2 minute short got more right than 60+ episodes.

If this is indeed true, it would certainly explain why there are two different pilot episodes for the show. One in English and the other in Japanese.

In fact about the only problem I ever had with this? Is that it kinda makes it look like Sonic is a hooligan invading an otherwise peaceful city... it takes more to indicate evil than having Eggman sitting in his control room while his cute little servant robots play a game with eachother.

And, geez. It's true. Sonic is the real menace, in this pilot. Why all the collateral damage? I guess those non-specific animal folks have had it too good for far too long.

Hmm... That could be an interesting premise for some alternate universe; where Eggman's the city's chief of security and Sonic's the city's most wanted fugitive.
ehhh it could work but it wouldn't seem right... unless Eggman is oppressive

The OVA was ok. It seemed like it was aimed toward an older audience.
Maybe because it was an OVA? And OVA's were/are aimed at a more mature/older audience who had the disposable income to have bought these things on VHS tape back in the day?
"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

Don't forget that Japan allows dark and edgy material into children shows than in America or the Western World in general. If you disagree please respond. The OVA was ok. It seemed like it was aimed toward an older audience.
