@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Well if Sonic gets more merchandise, maybe he'll get a new cartoon.

The thing is since the first 3D Sonic Game fans have been divided on if they like or dislike Sonic. Some like 2D, Some like 3D, some just like making fun of Sonic.

It's actually the second one where doubts became widespread. Sonic Adventure was pretty well received (though the redesign of the Sonic character himself was certainly controversial).

Not exactly.

Sonic Jam's little 3D mode was considered awesome at the time. Both Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2 got about the same reviews as well. But Heroes and so forth have gotten a lot of flak from fans.

Also SEGA went through a Character of the Game stage. In Sonic Adventure 2 they introduced Shadow and Rouge. Unleashed was Chip. Heroes was the reintroduction of The Chaotix. Blaze, Silver, Ermel....each game introduced a new character who the whole game kind of revolved around. Many fans thought there were too many new characters as old characters were pretty much just dropped and put on the shelf (Example Generations: Everyone is there during the final boss fight but didn't do anything).

Maybe, if all these new guys didn't show up, the actual Freedom fighters might have starred in a game....either that, or characters like Scratch, Grounder, Breezy, And Wes Weasley would show. Either way, id be happy.

Grounder actually is based of the digger robot from Sonic 2.

Beyond that, unless the game was being made off the Cartoon, the characters probably wouldn't have gotten any screen time anyways.

I knew that, and Scratch was based from the birds you. Go up against in Wing/Sky Fortress Zone.
Still, it would be worth the time. Searching for. Shards as rotor or antoine...sally getting a single mission or two...robotnik being a lot better...

The fanbase's fear of newer characters is the main reason why I don't think a game based on SatAM or any other Sonic TV series would fly well with gamers. One of the reasons why they're so loathed is because they tend to hog the spotlight away from Sonic himself. If you were playing a game called "Sonic the Hedgehog," you'd expect it to be about a speedy blue hedgehog that can run as fast as the speed of sound; not a monstrous werehog with "God of War"- style gameplay or a angsty black hedgehog holding a gun.

While most of these characters aren't bad, they do tend to draw more attention than Sonic does; even in the TV series. For example: AoStH starred Robotnik, Scratch, and Grounder more than Sonic himself, SatAM focused more on the other Freedom Fighters (specifically Sally and Antoine) rather than Sonic and Tails, "Sonic Underground" placed more development on Manic and Sonia instead of their iconic brother, and "Sonic X" had... Chris Thorndyke. <_<

If any of these characters were added to the games, chances are they would primarily focus more on them and their own gameplay gimmicks rather than the main protagonist that the series was based around in the first place; which won't please the old-timey fans who grew up with the original game.

Yes, Sonic X is a Thorndike in my side, and is the thing I blame for all the horrific things I find on google images...[the. Words "Chris Blazer" pulled up some things I required the brain bleach for. Poor Blazer, he never gets any popularity anymore, by the way.] That being said, I agree, the newer games are at fault because of focusing on everyone but Sonic, and I think sega's trying to do things Regggie style.
Reggie: hey you, sweeping the sand! Why don't you tell us YOUR story!
If there were a tad more blue, it would suffice, safe to say.

I feel I should note that the Character of the Game stage started with Sonic 3 (arguably Sonic 2.) But yes, even if the cartoon characters did show up very few people would actually be happy about it.

Well, the title caught my eye. I've skimmed a little through what you've said, but I have to agree that MLP will most likely gain more merchandising and follow the lines of Hello Kitty. I mean...Hello Kitty is like Micky Mouse--you can get toasters, pjs, mugs, waffle irons, ice cube trays (?)...you name it, they most likely have it. If Sonic makes it that far well...wow...how scary would that be?

A favorite comic strip artist of mine is right when he says that merchandising changes the look of the character (Artist: Bill Waterson). As much as I like Steam Boat Willy and Disney films, so much mickey would be like saying I don't have any personality myself. The same goes for Hello Kitty, but everyone still loves Hello Kitty (at least most women I know do). I think Sonic will most likely turn into a Micky rather than Kitty if they start merchandising him to that extent. :/

I've worked at a Toy store about 4 years ago. We already sold Sonic Clothes, toys, mugs, and key chains....Sonic isn't all that far off.

Yeah I agree Sonic turning into a Mickey would be more likely, however I think the creators actually compared him to being the next Hello Kitty.

Until I've seen a Sonic the Hedgehog Toaster, I don't think he's quite there yet. Once he makes it out of the toy store, and he is seen in other areas I'll agree with you. I'm still not quite convinced.

I think they're saying this because Hello Kitty is Asian related, and Mickey Mouse is Amer. through and through. They just don't want people to feed off the negative. Furthermore, Hello Kitty is beyond Mickey Mouse because she's liked better than him. I mean who wears Mickey unless they're in Disney World? --could be wrong about this, but its wear I see it mostly.

But... this is something I found interesting. Hello Kitty as Sonic the Hedghog. Who's more popular now? Sonic's got the Hello Kitty bump!!

Another thing I could buy my kids in the future(if there are any.)

Besides, when I was a kid still living in Germany, the big thing back then was....of all things...Mario. I never saw any mickey stuff, just mario, and a tad bit of Captain Caveman and a little of the Smurfs....
Because I grew up around Nintendo 64-era things, that was it. I didn't know who mickey was until I was 12. I had a genesis and I already knew sonic, so that was no difficulty.
I still have the coin block I got that long ago....

But anyway, if sonic's merchandise grew, I think some of us would get tired of seeing it...

Depending on what it is and how the merchandise effects the games.

Many Cartoons are made to sell the merchandise and a lot of them tend to go downhill when they do. Now Sonic is a game but I worry that they'll start including elements just to sell toys.
