@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

So I was watching the spanish version of the Sonic SATAM opening and noticed something... different.

Here is a screen cap of the English version:

And of the Spanish version:

Posted Image

See the differences? The one in the Spanish version is "darker"... and has the swirly, dark polluted clouds around Robotnik's base. Plus the "flames" are red in the English version and a bright white in the spanish.

This is the first I have ever seen of this and am pretty much stumped behind the reason for the difference. The only thing I can think of is that the Spanish version is using the very first version of the opening - sort of like how season 1 had a different style of singing the song in the English version before settling on the season 2 version for everything. Maybe there was a slight difference in this part of the animation as well?

Any input is appreciated. :)

Never notice it, and I saw the 1 season on spanish and I'm translating the second, so I'm seeing the 2 season on english...Funny.

I like more the screenshot of spanish than english...Damn, why they don't release the second season on spanish >_>

When you say Spanish, do you mean the Latin American dub?
There are two dubs in Spanish: the Castilian one and the Latin American one. The Castilian one didn't dub "Faster thing alive" but continued having the same intro as in AoStH.

It would be intersting to know why these are different. I would imagine other versions used the intro the first image is from because it gives it a better idea of the layout of the city. Cool as the second image may look you don't really get to see much because of the clouds.

Well I actually found it on Youtube and here is the link:

It was the only difference I can find - outside of within the same scene when the Destroyer is moving across the screen from left to right, if you look at the upper right hand corner, you can see the automatic switch from the Mobotropolis scene to Robotropolis based on the sky color change. This leads me to believe that they are using a version that is not the true "final" one.

(The first few seconds are black - apparently the video was slightly corrupted, but it corrects itself in plenty of time)

Also it does appear to be the Latin American one. :)

It's kind of funny to hear the theme song sung in Spanish.

But holy... terrible quality on the recording that that singer CANNOT sing! lol

And yeah, I also noticed the switch in the upper right. xD

I think the problem isn't that the guy can't sing, it's that the singer is mismatched with the song, and the thing was mixed by somebody who can't mix.

Arguably I think the Spanish one looks nicer even if it's a bit more incomplete.

I don't know why always latinos try to translate all the songs, they translate most of the songs, and do horrible...with this, is my 5th opening I like and they destroy. The problem is when you are Spanish and you understand the Latin lyrics, because is a pain on my ears.

I'll post the translation so you can understand why Teirusu and I don't like it
It's interesting to hear, because I wonder who translated it.

He carries* at great speed
Sonic the Hero.
Nobody can get him
Sonic the Hero.
Sonic, he moves "in truth" **
Sonic, he knows how to confuse
Sonic, nobody can catch him!
He knows how to escape
Sonic the Hero.
He can always do it.
Sonic the Hero.
Sonic, he moves "in truth"
Sonic, he knows how to confuse
Sonic, nobody can catch him!
Nobody can catch him!
Nobody can catch him!
Voiceover: SONIC!

* I understand "lleva a gran velocidad" (he CARRIES at great speed) but that doesn't make sense, because the song doesn't mention what he's carrying.
To me, the natural line would be "llega a gran velocidad" (he ARRIVES at great speed), so I think that either I don't understand it well or the singer mistook the G for an V when singing (the latter seems more likely to me).

** The expression "en verdad" (literally, "in truth"), while it seems to be common in Mexico, to my Spanish ears sounds completely wrong, outdaded and Biblical: while searching the expression in Wordreference, I came across a Gospel quote "En verdad, en verdad os digo..." (I really, really tell you...) which uses it, but again, in a completely arcaic way.
To me, the correct expressions would be "de verdad" (truly) or "en realidad" (really).

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So yeah, this song can be interesting to learn about how different the expressions are in different countries.

Wow, that's the guy who sang the Dragonball openings in Latin America.
I've heard them too. Some are good, but others are AWFUL.
