Swamp benders

I don't think they were ever shown bending wood, though. Just plants that kind of looked like a lot of seaweed.

They bend the water in the plant to make the plant move. The Bloodbender witch lady did that to make people and animals move. Make's sense that it could work on trees.

Not really. Wood isn't as malleable as other plants and people.

I mean, there are certain types of metal that even metal benders can't bend.

I just think controlling anything made of wood is just too lofty.

I am somewhat bugged on how lightning bending was supposed to be a really perfected art of firebending that only those with a cold heart can do. But now any joe can pull it off.

We saw the leader of the triple triads do it...

We saw Mako do it...

We saw the factory workers do it and I think it's safe to say we know they were hired for that job BECAUSE of their ability to do so.

But does that really mean "any joe?" Those factory worders could very well be a very small minority.

Well, perhaps a more industriul age has given them all more comfortable lives with which to better work on their bending?

Actually it being peace times their'd be less advanced benders.
In the old show Zuko who was one of the best firebenders couldn't lightning bend. That only Azula and Ozai could since they were not only masters but stone cold killers.

Watched some of the episodes. I'm impressed. Bolin, the airbending kid, and Tezin are now in my favorite character list.

Though yeah....randomly Metal Bending and Lightning Bending aren't as special as they once were. Oh well there is still Lava Bending and Sand Bending.

But now you have the leader of a tough gang doing illegal activities and a pro athlete who counts on his skills to get him what he wants. And then maybe some workers, but we don't know how accurate of a discription they can paint of the populace. I don't think being stone cold killers is the actual reason Ozai and Azula could Lightning bend.

Also, no one "randomly" metal bends. All the metal benders we see are highly skilled, highly trained officers part of an elite police force. It's still special because not once have we seen Joe Shmoe Normal Person metal bending on the street for kicks.

Odd thing about lightning bending: The reason I said earlier that I thought it was related to both air and fire instead of just fire was because typically lightning is often related to the AIR element, not fire. Quot erat demonstrandum:

In D&D back in the old days of first edition, lightning was a quasi-elemental plane connected to the Positive Material Plane and the Air Elemental Plane.

In Arcana for the SNES, lightning spells were used by Slyph, the air elemental spirit.

In Secret of Mana (and much of the Mana series in general), Lightning was one of the spells granted by Djinn, the Air Mana Elemental.

Who has been watching "Avatar: Legend of Korra?" if so, what are your thoughts so far?

I caught it this week and so far I'm enjoying the ride ^.^

Last time I checked tho', the ability to take away 'bending permanently (like what Aang did to Ozai) was called "Energybending"...since Amon seems to have that ability, wouldn't that make him a 'bender and, therefore, a hypocrite?

Most badguys are. Specifically ones who want to destroy humanity or their home planets and junk.
