@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Interesting. Most of these images are very intriguing to say the least.

One word: SEGA.

I'll bet you anything this movie was shot down because of them.

This didn't fit their view of Sonic and so it didn't happen.

Well done, guys, well done... Posted Image

Snively.... *shiver* No. Just no.

Yea, that was the one image I also admit just didn't fit.

For Julian Robotnik, that would have been perfect, but Snivley... Posted Image

Any Video Game based movie would have a lot of fans to back it up...however movies based on games have a reputation for being terrible (Probably due to Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter). A lot of Game companies do not like the idea of a movie company butchering their games. Also SEGA of Japan tries very hard not to let Archie Sonic spread into other genres.

Yea, but let's be honest here.

Those were both live action movies. It was a recipe for disaster as far as I'm concerned. Even Double Dragon heavily bombed for using the same style.

You cannot make a live action movie work with video game characters. It just doesn't mesh well.

They have to be animated or 3-D for it to have a chance, which I think that Sonic movie might have been.

A lot of Game companies do not like the idea of a movie company butchering their games. Also SEGA of Japan tries very hard not to let Archie Sonic spread into other genres.

I guess I can't blame them.

Still, even when it's a movie with alot of their input, it doesn't always guarantee it'll work either.

The Super Mario anime movie for example just wasn't that good.

Granted, the animation was good for Peach and Bowser, and the story was decent, but Luigi looked and acted way too much like Wario while Mario could have been drawn better himself.

Not to mention the ending was just awful. I mean, Mario does all that work to defeat Bowser just so Peach marries the fruitcake prince who was once a dog? Posted Image

I think personally it comes to having the right people in place for a movie based off a video game for it to be a success.

Of course, that goes for any project without saying when I really think about it.

Actually Super Mario Bros had a fairly good script out before it was replaced with the Movie we have today. Somewhere along the line...somebody thought a Science Fiction Mario was better then Fantasy Mario.

Also when Mario and Street Fighter were written the games didn't have much backstory or plot to really worry about.

Also if I was doing a Halo Movie or a Metal Gear Solid movie I would probably go with live action then animation as the games try to look as real as possible. Sonic movie should be animated, Mario should be animated, Metal Gear probably should be live.

Really? Do you happen to know if there's a link to where you can read the original script?

I'm curious to see what it would have been about before the stupid dinosaurs evolution crap.

Ok, I'll admit Halo or Metal Gear would be exceptions in this case since the main characters are already human and it wouldn't be too hard to make a live action movie based off of their plot.

Even Zelda I think could pass off as a live action flick, but it would need alot of professional editing to be done correctly.

I have a PDF copy myself I got from http://randomhoohaas...ovie/1/info.htm , but I can't seem to find it (haven't been there in a while).

Found it here: http://www.smbmovie....tion/script.htm
Brief summery provided by previous Link:

Original “Fantasy” Script

Writers: Jim Jennewein & Tom S. Parker

Revision Date: July 17th, 1991

Pages: 114

Overview:

Envisioned by writers Tom S. Parker and Jim Jennewein (The Flintstones, Richie Rich) as a comedic take on fairy tale themes in the same vein as The Princess Bride (and eventually the “Shrek” series), this gem of a screenplay gives us a glimpse of what the film would have been like if it were a more direct, cartoonish adaptation of the games.

The story follows brothers Mario and Luigi as they attempt to rescue Princess Hildy (that name makes you appreciate Daisy that much more, huh?) from the evil King Koopa in a wacky world reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. This screenplay laid the groundwork for how the characters were used by later writers: Mario is the reluctant hero, while Luigi is the dreamer who gets the girl. Both must overcome deep-stemmed differences to become “brothers” for the first time.

This script and its writing team were let go following the departure of director Greg Beeman. Without another director willing to take over the project as it was, the producers were forced to go with the wildly different concept pitched by husband-and-wife directing team Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel of Max Headroom fame.

Ken Penders comments of 2002

The main cast of characters consist of Sonic, Sally, Tails, Bunnie, Uncle Chuck, Jules, Bernie, King & Queen Acorn, Knuckles, Julie-Su, Espio, Mighty, Vector, Locke, Lara-Le, Wynmacher, Snively, Crabmeat, E-102 and Dr. Robotnik. As only the main plotline has been worked out, it remains to be seen what other characters will have speaking roles. At present, I envision a number of characters seen in various incarnations of the games, comic book and animated series will be utilized as "extras" throughout.

I can at least quell some fears that even if they don't have major parts, characters like Amy Rose, Rotor and Antoine will be seen in the film as the story requires a number of characters at least being seen as the Swatbots round up the citizenry for roboticization. (Andno, none of the three mentioned undergo the process. I don't need unnecessary rumors flying wild on the internet, thank you.)

But there has been some good Video Game movies like Resident Evil and Mortal Combat.
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Most of the real movies videogames sucks. I'm not agree with you. I hear from my friends a lot of dislikes about the films you said.

For me a videogame movie, must be animated as same as the videogames. One example is Sonic OVA is good, and when Sonic 06 tried to cross the line with humans and more realistic world...tada. You have the answer.
Elise: DENIED
Chris: DENIED

Still thinking a Sonic videogame movie have to be animated in an animal world. No humans, just animals able to speak

eh, but thats my opinion. Live action movies arent the best but i agree if its from or based off of a game it should be made in the style of the game

Yes yes, don't worry about I said, I just said my friend don't like it, and I didn't have the courage to see it. If you like it, I respect your opinion. I like a lot of things that the most of the people dislike :)

I think I can't add more than I said...Let's say how end Wretched Ralph (or whatever is xD, hard to spell it)...a animation film made by videogames cameos

One of the taglines for this movie (taken from the Floating Island Productions website) is "R U 1, 2?". I so want to change it to "R U 12?" and throw it right back at him.
