Actually, it was Penders' idea.

Back when the final story of "Endgame" was planned, it was originally intended that both Sally and Robotnik would die towards the comics' supposed "climax." The reason for this was because many of the writers at Archie believed that the series wouldn't last beyond the 50th issue.

For me, and maybe this isn't that big of a deal to most people, but I HATE the fact that they ditched SatAM Robotnik back in the day. Did Sega force them to so that there would be room for "Eggman" so that the comics would be more like the games? :/

Maybe it's just because i'm not a huge fan of the game canon. :/

Actually, they planned a story after issue 50 about Sonic found out that Sally survived and they're having a party, but then it turns out Sally was a robotic duplicate and Sonic has no choice but to fight her. At least what I read from an article from Mobius wikia.

I'm actually glad that idea never happened.

Not that I was against a Sally bot, since Satam had one, but having one after Sally was supposedly killed...?

Not to mention Archie had already done the Sally bot thing more than once by that point. Once with the actual Sally and once with a robot clone in Knothole à la Sonic & Sally.

You were right LogiTeeka, Archie was planning to end the comics due to poor licensing when they were publishing the End Game Saga at the time.

Seriously though, some of the time I think they do stupid things because they think it will help, other times I think they do it because they think it'll drive fans nuts.
