@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

OKAY. So I've decided I'm going to work like crazy to try to get my foot in the door in the comic book industry, and after getting some great advice from one of the artists currently working on the Archie Sonic books, I have a much better idea of how to go about doing so. :D

Which brings us to the purpose of this post: I need ideas. I need to start working on comics, at least 5 pages in length to showcase my storytelling abilities through drawing. Problem is I can't come up with ideas to save my life. xD And I've seen some interesting ones around here, so any suggestions you guys have would be appreciated (Sonic stories specifically, as the comic examples have to be relevant to the book I'm wanting to work on).

I was also encouraged to try and re-draw comics that I thought could be improved, and that sounded like fun as well, so I'll be working on that too. I've got a couple that were penciled by Penders in mind for redraws, but again, suggestions are welcome. :D I'll only be doing about 5-6 pages anyway, not the whole story. It's just to get my skills across.

I won't start drawing up the ideas immediately, as I was also told I also needed to focus more on my backgrounds and layouts to improve them, so I'll be going back to the basics for a little while, working on perspecive and just focusing on backgrounds and props (I do need the practice anyway). But yeah. Hopefully after this I'll be able to impress the person I talked to enough that he'll put in a good word for me. *crosses fingers* He had hinted at it, and at least wanted me to keep him posted on my progress, so that's something at least. xD

So you wanna draw for Archie Sonic, eh? I dunno if that's a good idea. You will, of course, have to draw what they want you to draw, not what you want to draw. And you'll also have to do it on a crazy schedule... Archie has pretty much always been a seat-of-the-pants operation from what I've heard. And to top it off, you probably won't make enough money to justify all that hard work. If you want to do Archie Sonic because you just want a job, then fine. But if you want to do it because you want to put your heart and soul into it, you're probably going to be sorely disappointed even if you do get the job. When I was in high school, there was a brief period where I wanted to draw Archie Sonic more than anything in the world. Looking back at it ten years later, well... I've realized Archie and I are a very poor fit. I'm just never gonna draw for Archie. I could see myself doing a one-shot gig, but no more than that.

By the way, it's funny you mention the idea of trying to improve on Penders' pencils, because I came up with the same idea as a drawing exercise. Haven't actually tried it yet, though... I'm the laziest artist on the planet.

My suggestion would be to pick a scene from a movie (or possibly a video game) and draw that out.

D: I-I kinda like the archie universe thank you. Besides, conforming to deadlines and following the script is something you'd have to deal with at ANY comic book studio. Or with any freelance work period. It's something I'm used to. ^^; Besides, I think it would be fun. I like making comics, but can't think up stories for the life of me. If I can make Sonic comics, get paid for it, AND not have to worry about trying to write, I think I'd be happy to at least give it a shot. If nothing else, if I CAN get my foot in the door, working at a long running comic company like Archie would at least give me some credibility as a professional artist.

But yeah, I'll watch some movies to get ideas. Thanks Red. ^^

Hmmm.....a comic that would last up to 5 pages...with an intricate storyline....
(The words Finally, An RPG! Are blinking in reed's head)
Ehh.....no idea.

In all seriousness, the first few pages of FAR are storyworthy. When it was in its prime, it wasn't as...Bruise-checky....as it is now. It had a nice run, but then stuff happened. The old FAR ended when Tikal And Relyt got to Southboro.
It was good, and I reccommend it. I tried to write a comic for it, but never had the proper time.

Draw a Sea3on short. Ten pages and shows your work publicly and you can show case it. :P

Gladly! xD I've been doing a page a day on pencils on my current personal project, which involves the 10th Doctor and a certain time travelling Hedgehog. So I think I could do a fully done, colored page a week pretty easily. Would I get script from someone to follow? (because that would be amazingly helpful, I'm rubbish at writing! xD)

Lol Reed, I have to build a portfolio- meaning I have to put LOTS of pages and such into it. I'll still give FAR a look for ideas- heaven knows I'll need them. xD

Up until they reach southboro, there's some pretty good ideas....but afterward, you have to search a little bit, amidst the lovey dovey shtick. But its still there. Stranger, Ratty, and a few other decent people, like.....Reed and Evori!
