@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

Seems like at least a few of the people here would like to hear more about what happened. Nice new website, BTW.

Dalek MAX is no mystery at all. Hes a individual who wanted some attention, plain and simple.

You're right. I do want attention, just like most artists and animators do. Everyone would like to be recognized for their work, or remembered.

Is MAX a hoax?

Nope. I'm real. And I'm not Richard Kuta either ( for those of you who sometimes like to include him when talking about me )

When people ask him questions on his credentials he gets very rude and uses foul language.

Here's my IMDB page. Although, it seems to be missing the first half of my career and a number of other screen credits ( which is not uncommon ) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2132114/ As for the foul language, I probably overreacted, but I'm an impatient person who doesn't take kindly to implications that I'm just trying to get attention. At the time, I wasn't aware that the Sonic fandom had gone through such a dramatic period with Rich Kuta. I might have been less abrasive if I'd known that the fans had been deceived by his boasting and promises. I was very careful to say ( and have repeatedly reiterated many times ) that I was only working on a pitch. Nothing more. I made NO promises to anyone. i didn't say the show would definitely get made. I didn't promise "Don Bluth quality animation" I just said I was working on a pitch. that's all.

It's easy to imagine someone having an actual job in the industry and then start bragging about it.

I don't think I've ever come out and said "I'm better than any of you because I work in animation" If I did, please show me.

The sad truth that people need to realise is that there never will be a Satam sequel or reboot

I dunno. The internet seems to love the new MY LITTLE PONY cartoon. If you ask me, THAT is how you reboot a franchise.

He loses a point for causing FUS to be flooded with newbies who had no idea how to behave here.

How is that my fault?

He's a low-level guy in the animation industry

Ouch. If you want to see me that way, it's cool. Seems a bit judgmental, but with the limited information you guys have to work from, I can see how I might look like a "low-level employee"

He loses a point for canceling his plans based on the reaction of some FUSers. He has no backbone.

This is the one time I'm going to call you out ( because if I raise my tone, or get too defensive, I'm usually blocked or banned ) but my friend, you don't know what you're talking about. Life got in the way. Health issues got in the way. FAMILY got in the way, and WORK got in the way and the fans...the fans were just the icing on the cake. I mean, I come back here out of minor curiosity to see what's shakin in the wold of FUS, and here's a thread about what an asshole I am? Pardon me, but with all due respect, I believe you're very much mistaken. Gleam whatever you like from my indignance. And if my perplexing personality leads you to think "Oh, a professional can't be so darn defensive" then so be it. Think what you like. you don't have to be the button-down-suit ass-kissing type to succeed in this business.

If you'd like to know the particulars of why I abandoned my pitch ( and why I re-abandon it every time I think I might want to start it up again ) it IS because of fans. And not even the WEIRD fans like Kuta. It's the rampantly critical, ANGRY ones. Yes, announcing my plans was a mistake. (I was prompted to, and I hadn't really begun work on it yet )It was the one and only time I ever did something like that on the internet. I get it, this is YOUR site and you don't like it when someone from the business comes in, claiming to be this or that, and of course if it doesn't pan out, then you feel betrayed. But like I said before, I never promised anyone anything. If anything else, I thought it was cool to see people getting excited about SATAM again. But some things are probably meant to stay dead. I realized that and moved on. I figured time might ease people's rage a bit but it appears people are angrier than ever. And I don't get it. I just don't get it. I'm a professional, but I'm a fan too. Professionals can be fans. We're just not supposed to be..or ALLOWED to be, in many circumstances.

You can think whatever you like of me. I just felt I owed you all a better explanation.

Matt Sullivan here. I was browsing the boards and was surprised to see people were still talking about me. I'd offer to answer any questions you guys have, but I'm expecting the admins here might delete my post or lock the thread and ban me.

I hope they don't. I'd be willing to explain exactly what the circumstances behind the whole Freedom Fighters fiasco.

Dude, you are like a broken record man. I swear that's the same response you give to anyone who ever talks about you. Bored much?

As for SEGA I think they are getting -a little- better with appeasing to their fan base. I really think they missed a great story opportunity with SATAM by choosing not to utilize it. Its a damn shame SATAM will only be a comic or fan fiction. But hey we take what we can gets right?

OK, guys. If Matt wants to explain himself, let him. I still think he has very little credibility no matter what he says, but let's not make this a whole Matt-bashing thread because, honestly, it's just too easy. Respond to him if you like, but I think we shouldn't bash until he really asks for it.

Nope. I'm real. And I'm not Richard Kuta either ( for those of you who sometimes like to include him when talking about me )

I don't think anybody seriously believes you two are the same, and anybody who does is clearly ill informed. The reason you two are often brought up together is because you both have been sources of trouble, albeit different kinds.

He loses a point for causing FUS to be flooded with newbies who had no idea how to behave here.

How is that my fault?

By not considering the potential consequences of your actions, and doing nothing to discourage this once it clearly started happening? Hell, you basically flipped out when we called you on it.

I figured time might ease people's rage a bit but it appears people are angrier than ever.

We're not angry as such. It's just that, well, all our previous encounters with you have been unfortunate, so it shouldn't be surprising that our opinions still reflect that.

Honestly, I'm trying to figure out why you are here after you were banned. But I went to the liberty of asking an admin for you, and they were good enough to give you another chance. You should make it a habit of thanking them, it would be the polite thing to do.

As for calling you out that was done and over with over a year ago, you need to move on. There will be no unpleasantness here, you already lost that fight two times now. You want to post here, hey that's great, what I want is for you to behave yourself. That is what I have always wanted, no more, no less.

Yeah the site needed some TLC for some time now. Especially with the increase in traffic we have been seeing over the past 2 years. Can't have a ugly site looking back at the visitors.

Just for the record, I'm willing to give Matt a second chance too. But it's probably best if he doesn't talk about making a pitch whether or not he's going to make one. The time to talk about it is when it's done.

First off ,yes thanks for the opportunity to come back on here. I've always liked FUS. Now for the other topics...

By not considering the potential consequences of your actions, and doing nothing to discourage this once it clearly started happening?

I'm not quite sure i remember exactly what those consequences entailed, it's been so long I've most likely put them out of my head. i seem to recall there was a lot of fan input, almost too much. People wanting to suggest ideas, or be part of the process. You'd have to be more specific about what happened, because I really did put it out of my head for a good long while.

We're not angry as such. It's just that, well, all our previous encounters with you have been unfortunate, so it shouldn't be surprising that our opinions still reflect that.

I suppose that makes sense. I just was a bit flummoxed at the level of anger considering all I ever did was say I was working on a pitch. perhaps it was my fault for misunderstanding just how badly some fans wanted to see SATAM continue.

I'm here, because I don't like things left unfinished.

Part of the reason I abandoned my pitch in the past ( only part mind you ) was because I had just too much on my plate. A lot of projects that were started, and left unfinished. I made a concerted effort to actually set about DOING those tasks because I felt like I would never finish anything I started. Take my NIMH 2 pitch for example. A lot of people single me out for being a con artist because that never came to be. There's a very simple truth to that, and it's that when I was working on that project, NIMH 2 TIMMY TO THE RESCUE came out and sorta ruined any hope I had for making a TRUE sequel. So I put that project on the shelf with about 20-30 other pitches, scripts, etc. I made myself stop working on NEW projects, and went back to more or less finishing the shelved projects. Mostly, for my own satisfaction. You won't see the NIMH 2 art, because I resolved to do it for MYSELF.

But more than that, I had my OWN scripts and ideas to work on. I mean, adapting a well known property is great and all, but i didn't create it. It's not MY character. SO I focused on my own art and scripts. That's pretty much it. Now that I'm caught up, I felt compelled to come back to Sonic. That's why I'm here now. I just wanted to gauge the state of people's feelings about it.

Aww...no more posts left...quite an interesting topic...anyway, I remember when you were first here MA-X, but vaguely. I do remember you showing off that concept art and then vanishing from the forums for reasons I can't remember, if they were stated or not, and instinctively, I was pissed. It looked like a decent pitch was being developed and then suddenly the guy vanishes, but now I see that its not like you just threw in the towel and got lazy, (like me) but that the fan's reaction was also a big reason why, so no grudges being held here, of course. One thing I definitely agree with you is that old shows can be rebooted successfully, but rarely are they. (imo) A great example is definitely that pony show; I remember watching an episode or two of the original series with my niece, and man, that show is terrible. All the characters were bland, dialogue was god-awful...I could hardly stand it...and now, I'm a brony who wakes up at 8:30 AM every Saturday to watch a 30-minute cartoon meant for 7-13 year old girls. (sad, I know) In closing, we've all seen attempts to bring the show back and over and over again, they've failed. But one thing for sure we shouldn't do is talk lowly of those who did still try, even if it was a pitch in progress or a little petition online.

Really, I couldn't care less about the past. It's done and over; that's why it's called the past.
ANYWAY, to get back on topic, I think a Satam reboot would be interesting. For me personally, however, I'd like to see some of the former writers or voice actors to either work on the reboot or give it their blessing.

Really?

Well, if you really are Matt Sullivan, you mind answering a few questions that have been on my mind?

1. How much of a part did Sega play in causing you to cancel the reboot plans?

2. What concepts and ideas did you plan to incorporate into the Sonic series had it gone through?

I don't expect you to answer these questions, considering how the plans came to nothing, but it would be nice if you did.

How much of a part did Sega play in causing you to cancel the reboot plans?

None whatsoever. As I said before, I was just working on a pitch. Had I carried those plans out I would have had my agent arrange to have DIC or Cookie Jar, or whoever currently owns Sonic's broadcast rights, to receive the material.

What concepts and ideas did you plan to incorporate into the Sonic series had it gone through?

I'd planned to continue from the end of season two, but expand the world. Sonic and the Knothole crew would have traveled all around Mobius gathering an enormous army of freedom fighters ( Which was supposed to lead to an inevetable final battle with Robotnik/Snively/Naugus ) We would have seen characters from the Sonic game universe, only "SATAM-ized" Meaning their characters and personalities would be altered to suit the "geurilla warfare" scenario that SATAM tried to portray.

Pretty simple stuff really. I didn't want to get into heavy magic or deus ex machina Plot McGuffin madness. Just a straight, hardcore war story that occasionaly threw in a mystical element or two.

I know, I tried to stay away...but just like Silver's cheap telekinesis, you can't escape it. EVERYONE will be a brony in time. Muahaha!
