@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

So, Pixar has announced it's new feature animated film slated for release in the summer of 2012. The film, "Brave", is a tale about a scottish princess. The film synopsis states:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

The interesting thing about Brave is that it's Pixar's first attempt as a strong female lead. From the teaser, I'm loving the graphics and lighting. This is one I'm definitely anxious to see, especially after the disappointment of Cars 2.

I PIXAR film starring Craig Ferguson? Could this be the best thing ever!!!

Actually, I'm not sure what to think of this film. The strong female lead seems to be an element from a Hayao Miyazaki film, an element which I'm actually very interested in seeing and hope they pull of as well as Miyazaki.

*Visits Wikipedia*

HALLELUJAH! IT'S DIRECTED BY MARK ANDREWS!!!! Wait, why did they shift directors from Chapman to Andrews last year? Brenda Chapman's Prince of Egypt was a pretty darned good piece of work. Mark Andrews (co-director of the PIXAR short One Man Band and the henchman [story- artist] of The Incredibles director Brad Bird) has a style of story-telling that seems way too zany and loud compared to her filmmaking sensibilities. I must dig into this. It kind of concerns me, especially seeing as how Brenda Chapman was supposed to be the first female director at PIXAR. I hope it was over opportunity rather than disagreement.

EDIT: "Creative differences", and this article says she's on a "leave of absence" from PIXAR. This has happened before with Ratatouille, when PIXAR replaced Geri's Game director Jan Pinkava with The Incredibles director Brad Bird. (What is it with Brad's team always replacing these directors?) This source says she's still on staff at PIXAR, though. Darn you, conflicting reports!

Hey everyone...a new trailer was released today exclusively to iTunes. I'm really looking forward to this movie! After letting me down last year with Cars 2...it's looking like Pixar just might redeem themselves.

I highly doubt that. Despite my utter disgust at Cars 2 I still have faith in Pixar's ability to turn out good animation. This one looks to be a winner to me.

True. Pixar hasn't really let me down before. And I knew Cars 2 was going to be bad the moment I heard what the general plot was. However with Monster University coming too, which also sounds like it will be bad, I'm beginning to have doubts.

I gave Cars 2 a shot because Toy Story 2 and 3 were so good....but now it's looking like pixar is following disney with stupid sequels.

That's because Pixar was stuck in that contract with Disney for a set amount of movies / sequels. I think Brave might finally be the one that they were able to break free from Disney on? I'm not sure. But it still looks great- I don't usually like 3D animated films as much, but Pixar's stuff is worth getting excited for most of the time in my opinion. ^^

I agree...anyone who knows me long enough knows how much I dislike the whole move to 3D animation. However, Pixar is different. Pixar is not only all about 3D animation...they're the ones who revolutionized it. 3D is what Pixar does, it's all they've ever done, and likely all they'll ever do. And I'm perfectly fine with that...because they do it well. However, when companies like Disney who've thrived on traditional animation decide to THROW AWAY THEIR ANIMATORS and delve into the 3D realm...that's where I have a problem (check out the movie "Dream On Silly Dreamer" - well worth the $3 purchase on iTunes)!

Anyway...now that that rant is off my chest...again xD...I didn't know Pixar was contracted to do a certain number of sequels. Leave it to Disney to screw up a good company! (I just ranted about Disney again...coincidence??? I think not Posted Image )

OHMYGOD THIS. THANK YOU. Disney was my main major goal as a young aspiring animator- and then they shot it out the window by all but closing the 2d department and making poor quality 3d movies. D8 I mean, Tangled was okay, but man- after seeing the production art and character designs drawn out in pencil by legendary animator Glen Keane.... man- 2D would have looked SO much better. xC

Im a big fan of 2d myself, not so much on 3d. I admit some 3d films are good but I'm still a huge 2d fan. North America needs more 2d animation companies.

Mod Move Just keeping all of the same topics in the same topic.

Also, I cannot wait for this film! I'll check out the trailer tomorrow after I finished editing other video stuffs. I've been waiting for PIXAR to take the Miyazaki route and create a strong female lead for one of their films.

I saw the trailer myself a few weeks ago. Looks like a winner for sure, if the tone and atmosphere of the trailer is anything to go on. The female lead is a nice touch, but I'm not sure if it will be like the female leads in a Miyazaki film, given the western sensibilities of PIXAR. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Can't wait to find out more about it.
