There's absolutely nothing wrong with the idea; if anything, it's something the comic has desperately needed.

I agree with this assessment for the most part.

But Sally is not the best suited character for this role of, "protagonist turned evil super weapon."

Characters like Bunnie, Dulcy, or even Shadow would fit this role MUCH BETTER.

My concern is with the potential execution.

Same here.

Ian has been known to have poor execution when writing intriguing story ideas.

Hopefully I'll be proven wrong about this after its all said and done, but for now, I don't think I will be.

There's the thing, though: I don't think Sally is going to be used as a "super weapon", at least not in terms of being a butt kicker or physically destructive force.

Where she IS a potentially huge weapon is in her ability to completely mess with Sonic's emotions (along with the other Freedom Fighters, of course, but, well, c'mon, its Sonic and Sally), and that's how I'm guessing Robotnik will use her most, to completely throw his arch nemesis off his game.

Not to totally go off subject, but I have notice that @ places like the DA site, there is not much Mecha Sally art to be found (and I'm not talking before this happen, I mean current) From What I've seen is about 10 - 15 pieces of fan art, and just less then 5 in the last few weeks. Guess it shows that everyone is used to her original design, no matter how anyone feels about her.

Being that they are in relationship terms, it would be purely sadistic torture to hear your girlfriend actually cry out in pain as you fight her roboticized self. If I were the Doctor, I would do so, and it would ultimately break Sonic's sanity and Will to live, and eventually, he would be done for, and have such a low outlook on life and disappear forever, allowing Robotnik to successfully single out and Roboticize the other Freedom fighters and finally take over Mobius, and leave a sad, pathetic, depressed and hopeless Hedgehog to his own demise.

Although, wasn't the latest attempt at the roboticizer destroyed by Sally when she had the beam invert itself?

I think Snively even made a comment saying it was not just offline, it was gone.

That does raise another interesting question.

Why did Eggman need resort to, "restarting Mobius" in order to roboticize again?

I mean, there was no reference that the current roboticizer before that was destroyed.

All it said was that everyone was deroboticized now. Well, except for Jules and Bunnie of course.

Within the dark comics and stories I write, the Grim Tales of Teran, in #15, I have already put a voice on Mecha Sally, and Sonic has been grimly defeated.....believe me, I should replace mr. Ian and i'd be azble to create such godly-awesome writings like I do with PaperWars and GTT.
....#10 was....horrible......anyways, the sonic we all know and love would be gone, he'd be a single candle in the Black Ocean of Despair. If he had a bit of hope left in him, he would try to get rid of Eggman, but perish at the hands of Mecha. Sally, and, beings that Eggman and Sonic had such a rivalry, Eggman might just hold a small funeral for the saddeningly poor hedgehog.
...how much more dark must I go?

I never understood why, of ALL the fan authors they could have picked from, they got Ian the Potto. Its nice to see a fan get to write for what he likes, but when I see the likes of old chool sonic fanfic authors, I cant' help but wonder if they could have been better served getting someone else so crap like THIS doesn't happen.

I never figured out how Ian got the job either.

I mean, what did he have to offer that made Archie say, "Oh yea, you're the perfect head writer for us."

Was his Other-M fan comic that big of a hit?

I get the feeling there's more to this story than we know about.

I mean from a list as diversive as Dan Drazen, Robert brown and Francis Tolbert (Both of whom are personal friends of mine from the NYC FUSCon), David Pistone, and the list goes on and on...

The only work that I ever read of Ian's was his Satam/Telletubbies crossover. So I'm in agreement, I think there's more to this than just Ian sending his fan works into the publisher. This smacks of good old fashioned payola, if you ask me. Granted Penders has had personal issues with people in the above list: He's resented Drazen for writing lashing reviews of the Sonic Comic and Robert and Penders have have bad blood between them for years after Robert uncovered some proof that Penders stole the idea of pairing Bunnie and Antoine from him (Robert's pairing of Ant and Buns preceded the event in the comic by years, at least)

I have to say, I think picture 2 is magnificent - but then, I'm seeing it in isolation without knowing how the comic has been going. I never have kept up with the storyline. 'Mecha Sally' sounds too much like trying to revisit an old storyline - even without knowing the story behind the comics I don't buy it either.
