I don't know about you, but I hated this show. It was so preachy about the environment, and really boring. I'm sure some people liked it, but I'm not one of them. Regardless, do you really think this could be made into an enjoyable movie? (Especially with Cartoon Network being involved?)

And I don't know who in Hollywood thought that this would be a good idea. Seriously, I don't. I mean, what are they thinking? What crowd is this gonna appeal to?
Believe it or not...

And yeah, Captain Planet was over the top, what with its villains who polluted for no purpose beyond pollution itself. Occasionally the bad guys had realistic motivations, but usually they just acted evil for evil's sake. If they focused on real issues and not on people who pour brown slop in lakes or chop down rainforests because it's fun, I could get behind a Captain Planet revival.
But... not a live action one.

I think it may have something to do with the success of cartoon to live-action movies lately. I mean, Transformers is making millions, Alvin and the Chipmunks is getting a THIRD movie (Don't get me started!), and even G.I. Joe is getting a sequel! It makes me sick, actually.
Yeah, but the thing is Transformers, Alvin and the Chipmunks and G.I. JOE are franchises that have spanned for over 25 years at least and they have a fanbase. Look at Transformers, the the space of 27 years it's had 16 seperate animated shows and you can't tell me it's because fans of the original show kept it alive. The fandom is only a small market. Transformers has lasted this long because it's big kid appeal. Kids love playing with robots and they love with toy vehicles, so give them both in one!
Now imagine if Hollywood tried to make a Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors movie, a franchise that's pretty much dead except for a small loyal fanbase. I really doubt it'll make any type of money at all. A lot of movies made today are sequels, remakes, reboots whatever because they have brand recognition, general people who aren't fans will still know of it in some way because it's big enough. I know guys are work who aren't Transformers fans but saw the live action movies because they know of Transformers.
Geez..........well it had to happen sooner or later. But MAN!! Captain Planet?! Are you KIDDING?!?! If anything, make it anime, not live-action.
... How would making Captain Planet into an anime make it any better?
... As long as he takes on Hitler, I'll be fine.
Oh yeah, I can imagine it now... Captain Planet pimp smacking Hitler around, screaming "Those Jews you cooked in the ovens aren't enviromentally friendly!"
Hopefully the Russian chick with the wind powers is hot. Give me that much at least, Movie!
She most likely will be, and then you'll realise she'll be the love interest for the American guy with the fire power. Who is ginger. And everytime you see her on screen, she's right next to ginger boy, and you won't be able to look at the screen because his ginger presence will draw your eyes to him...
What is Hollywood's obsession with taking a beloved cartoon property (well... not so beloved in this case, but...) and making it live action? Kids loved it because it was a cartoon in the first place. They don't want it to be "real".
People go to see these movies because it brings back childhood memories. Keep in mind Most kids today will never have seen the Captain Planet cartoon. The sad part is people want the movies to be like their memories and they just ani't gonna happen. And then when they decide to revisit the original show, they realise it's not the same watching it through the eyes of an adult.
The movies also serve to bring in a new audience to the franchise, and it's also helpful if said franchise has an inbuilt fanbase too. The fanbase will most likely bitch and whine at the new movie for not "being what I expected it to be" but then like I said before, the fandom makes up a small part of the small market of people who'll see the movie. Do they give the fans exactly what they want and thus driving away people who "don't get it" or do they give it to the much bigger movie going audience? Answers on a postcard please...
But c'mon! Most evil villians in cartoons never really had a solid reason for being an evil dick anyway. They did it because evil is awesome! The best evil villians are the ones who look at themselves and don't see themselves as evil.
This movie is a pretty bold step to say the least. A stupid bold step, but it'll be interesting in seeing how they'll take a blue skinned guy with a green mullet who can be easily defeated by throwing a soiled diaper in his face and make him relevant to today's audience.
I just want Ted Turner to play Captain Planet, because, and let's be honest, that Robot Chicken sketch was awesome, and no doubt that when Turner created him, he totally saw himself as Captain Planet.
"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

Yeah, but Captain Planet is about the real world. Sure, the real world doesn't have blue-skinned superheroes or rings that can magically light stuff on fire, but we can look past that because they're fundamental to the premise of the show. But when you bring in stock supervillains, you pretty much throw away any relation to the real world, and in so doing, you undermine the show's message. Or in TV Tropes terms, everything becomes a Fantastic Aesop. But c'mon! Most evil villians in cartoons never really had a solid reason for being an evil dick anyway. LOL Right. For instance, the bad guys would have a warehouse by the docks full of barrels of toxic sludge, and be covertly bringing more barrels in via truck or whatever... keeping it all on the low-down. An operation that costs both time and money. And they wouldn't be doing it to like... ransom money out of the nearby town/city/whatever (ie: give us money or we poison your water!) They wouldn't even be doing it to cut corners so they wouldn't have to pay to properly dispose of it. No, they just did it cuz apparently dumping toxic waste into water was fun. Or that's what I remember anyway... I always remembered thinking 'what exactly is their point of doing this?' I think some episodes were probably better than others in regards to the villain's motives, but I'm not going to watch them to find out
Also, the 'heart' power was lame and didn't even relate to the rest of them. Maybe if it had been 'spirit' instead...I dunno... I guess you could considered spirits to be a 'natural element' or something.

But 'heart' is the best power-up! Right up there with the power of 'friendship' and 'love'!Also, the 'heart' power was lame and didn't even relate to the rest of them.
