I have two favorite TV shows, and I can't say which one I like better because they're both great shows to watch. The first of the two being Chuck, an action/comedy about your average twenty-something nerd who accidentally downloads top-secret information into his brain. The NSA and CIA send out their top agents to work undercover with him, and hilarity ensues. The show does a great job with action, involving Chuck Bartowski (played by Zachary Levi) and his fellow agents John Casey and Sarah Walker (Adam Baldwin and Yvonne Strahovski) taking down terrorists and crime bosses, but also keeping his spy life a secret from his family and friends. Ironically, I didn't get into the show until a year ago, but it's been a blast watching ever since. Just after watching the pilot I immediately got hooked. The comedy is off the charts too, as some episodes will have you falling out of your seat. I have an injury to prove it.
My second favorite TV show is something more crime based, and it goes by the name Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, or SVU for short. Based in the Law & Order franchise, the show follows a police department who investigates sexually based crimes and offenses. What sets it apart from your typical police procedural is the execution. NCIS? Yeah. that's ok. Criminal minds? It's alright. SVU? The best of the best. The writers come up with many, many depressing yet intriguing scenarios, and the actors do an incredible job portraying their characters. Although the precinct has many detectives, the show mainly follows the two lead detectives, Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson, played by Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay respectively. Other notable detectives include Fin Tutuola and John Munch, played by Ice-T and Richard Belzer. As said previously, many cases can be emotionally draining, as this is definitely not a show that everyone can watch, but the outstanding performances and the gripping cases will really have you at the edge of your seat. An episode where Hargitay's character was trying to find the location of an abused 9-year-old girl was one of the best of the series, as she even won an Emmy for her role in that episode.(911) My personal favorite episode, titled 'Demons', focuses on Meloni's character, going undercover to convict a rapist recently released from prison. Those are the episodes you have to see somehow. Hulu Plus, Youtube, TV Links, just find it somewhere! In closing, it's a fantastic show. For those who don't mind the grisly scenarios I recommend this series higher than any of the other Law & Order branches, and possibly even more than other crime dramas. The title card at the end still gives me chills at the end of every episode, 'Executive Producer - Dick Wolf'.
Fire away guys.
