@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I'm sorry...but the Flinstones is one of those classics that you just can't reboot. No matter how hard you try...you just can't touch the classics.

"A lot of people only associate McFarlane with raunchy humor, but they forget he started out on Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken and Dexter’s Laboratory. Those were kids’ shows, but with adult sensibilities."

You never know.

To me it has nothing to do with who's directing it....it's the mere fact that they're bringing it back. I just can't see how you can remake such a well known classic as the Flinstones and it be anywhere near as good as the original. I'd rather see all that time and talent be put into something new and original rather than trying to run off the fame of a classic.

And in my opinion, the original Flintstones wasn't very good anyway. Though we agree there's no particular need for a remake! :P

Seriously, the show had bad animation (as did pretty much all TV shows of the time) and often predictable plots. Fred's character is interesting, I suppose, but he's still just an incarnation of the Ralph Kramden archetype. All of the other Flintstones characters seem dull and one-dimensional to me, though at least Mel Blanc's voice gave Barney some life.

Of course Fred was an incarnation of Ralph Kramden...the Honeymooners was the most popular show on the air at the time the Flinstones began. And as far as animation is concerned you really can't compare the quality of the Flinstones to todays standards. As you said, "show had bad animation (as did pretty much all TV shows of the time)". Another way to look at that statement is that the animation of the Flinstones is comparable to other animation of the day. That was about as far as animation had gone at that time and when you consider they released one episode a week I imagine they were doing pretty good.

Meh. It's one of those things, someone was eventually going to remake it for the modern generation, like Looney Tunes, Like Sonic, new ones are comming and we happen just to not like them.

If he does it well great! If not, well he'll get run over by cave-man cars.

I'll admit that I will give it a look over when it comes out. I was never a HUGE fan of the show in the first place but.. Eh, we shall see.

Also I am aware that Seth has done kids shows in the past, he actually has quite a list of stuff he has worked on. So.. You never know.

I didn't like the original Flintstones that much. I dunno why, but I guess I just found them boring. I agree that "you can't touch the classics" can apply here, but I feel like it applies because nobody should ever try to make a cartoon series where most of the running gags are animals being used as household appliances. I just don't find humor like that clever or interesting.

If he does reboot The Flintstones, it might actually be interesting for once. But it would start off like every other MacFarlane show: We're gonna see a pint-sized talking character, a talking animal/creature, and the same family structure with the same odd situations thrown at them. It might find its own identity later on (The Cleavland Show only recently finally stopped sounding exactly like Family Guy when your head was turned away from the screen), but for the most part.... yeah. It's gonna be like Family Guy for a while. Except this time the animals might talk back when they're being used as household appliances.

It sounds like I may be the only Family Guy fan here, but It could be a chance to try something different... The worst that could happen is that the show sucks and interest in the original is revived.

I'm actually becoming fonder of the older Family Guy episodes. Nowadays they only have one good joke out of 50, but it can still be a somewhat entertaining show to watch at times. I'm just saying that a lot of MacFarlane's different shows are becoming predictable in it of themselves. The only real difference between Family Guy and any of his other shows are nuanced changes within preference.

some others on this forum have different ideas on Family Guy, mainly because of older members since banned made a mess of things for a while. (I think so anyway. Didn't "Animator X" work for MacFarlane's shows?)

It's a long story. the point is that I'm focusing on the show's creator and not the shows crew. I've already said what I think of MacFarlane, so we'll see what he does with The Flintstones. I know I'll probably watch it for a few episodes.
