*giggles* Am I the only one who doesn't think a pair of cracked goggles means certain death?
You know, now that I really think about it, you make a very good point.
This title at first threw me off, especially with Sonic yelling, SALLY!
But, if I really know Ian, like I think I do, this may be nothing more than another smoke and mirrors on his part.
He's famous for this kinda of secrecy.

I don't like the sound of this.
Guess Ian's either going to do what I hope he's not planning to do, or he's going to pull another fast one as usual.
Eh, I probably shouldn't be too concerned. After all, he did make that deus ex machina styled story of Eggman destroying Knothole and the city, only to have Nicole "magically" restore New Mobotropolis to normal with her nanite technology.

To me it looks like somebody was clumsy.

Now, it's up in the air, it's 50/50.
But let me point out something that I have noticed in the comics since Ian came on board.
When he kills a character (MAJOR OR MINOR) off, he does it on panel, like a character being killed on screen in a movie or tv show. If he was to kill Sally off or any major character like her, he would do it on screen and in a heroic sacrifice way, not off panel/off screen (which is why some doubt Hershey's dead.) in a murderous way. So right now, as mentioned above, it's still up in the air.
However, we cannot underesterime Ian, take the recent Sonic Universe issue and the whole Lara-Su/Jani-Ca becoming not only the first female Enerjak, but the first good guy one, not one saw that coming. So we cannot say Ian won't pull the trigger.
Now we also have to look at this, as perhaps Ian's Ultimate Webcomic. Just like Chris Fischer's "Of Mice and Mayhem: Rescue Rangers" webcomic was. For there are simliarites, most importantly the supposed "death" of the main female lead, many thought she was dead, but it turns out, she wasn't. So the same, could/can be said for the Sally situation right now.
One last thing, if you want to look at it from a another standpoint, perhaps Ian never really wanted to go in this direction yet, but due to the legal actions between Archie Comics and Ken Penders, he may have had no choice, because honestly, this kind of story would have been better for #250. But now we'll never know.

My thoughts exactly...I feel the only way to do Sally's death would be as part of the end of the series. If done properly...it would make a very dramatic ending.

Perhaps, but it still would be unacceptable IMO.
I mean, if she's going to get killed at the series finale, why even hint she's Queen in the M30YL series?
I know that future's not set in stone, but stil...

Part of me thinks Ian won't have the stones to keep her dead, while the other part is telling me this expectation of her return through Genesis is exactly what he wants fans to believe.
- To completely replace the continuity with Genesis would infer many characters and their histories would get erased; Something I don't think Ian would get away with even for Sally. The fact he infers we'll be 'returning' to the present continuity after Genesis implies it won't be a complete reboot, provided Genesis impacts the main book at all.
- Provided Genesis ties in with the main story, the current continuity doesn't get completely replaced and will still hold merit, the events covering Genesis have to be connected. Otherwise, it would just result in a time paradox. Eggman had to create the Death Egg and capture the Chaos Emerald in order to introduce the story, and by extention Sonic Genesis. Unless Sonic has concious recollection of his past, there's nothing he can do to predict or prevent Eggman's actions and even after Genesis, its implied a life will still be compromised.
On the other hand Ian's notorious for writing plotholes so he just might ignore this and bring her back anyway.
