Your Ideal Sonic Beat Em Up

Would it be 2d, 3d, 2.5d?
Based off SatAM, Games, comic or Non Canon mishmash?
Would it be fantastical (Street Fighter, Guilty Gear) Realistic, sort of (Tekken, Virtua Fighter) Or in between (MK Deadly Alliance)
Who would your Character Roster include? What locations would make great arenas? Heck, I even want to hear character Intros/endings if you can think of them.
I know this will NEVER happen really, but I think it has potential as a fan made game at least.
Me personally?
2.5D with a roster based off a loose rendition of SatAM and Archie characters, with a Street Fighter style of Gameplay.
Initial playable roster to include Sonic, Sally, Tails, Bunnie, Antoine, Amy, Knuckles, Nack, Rotor and Rouge.
At fight 6, you face a rival (Tails v Sonic, Rouge v Knuckles?) 7 you go up against Snivley and at the final you face Robotnik... But if you do well, then maybe Ixis will apear (Akuma style) and you will have to fight him instead.
And of course secret characters (Shadow, Chaotix members, Archie characters such as Julie Su, Monkey Kahn, Mina, Mamoth Mogul, Scourge?) And alternate costumes/looks (Current Archie and SatAM look for Bunnie, Old and Current outfit for Amy for example)
Just wonder If anyone else has any Ideas? And how they would like a game of this type to turn out?

Actually, it has happened. Twice, if you count Sonic Battle.

True, true... But lets face it, Fighters was crap and Battle was not as great as it could have been.

But why include only SatAM and Archie characters? I would like to see several characters from other continuities get a chance to kick some butt.
It would also be nice if every playable character has his/her own fighting moves and powers.

In my ideal roster, i did include game characters too as unlockables lol
But thats just what I would want, of course other characters I overlooked would fit right in.
I started this thread to see what other people would want in this style of game? So by all means dude, share your ideas
Im even open to ideas for special moves and super combos etc.

-Sprite based high-octane fighter. 2.5 is nice for Smash Bros, but Sonic should do something a bit faster and there sprites excel (unless we're suddenly in a MvC situation, in which case I am completely fine with 2.5.)
-Simple controls. The controls could be a bit more flexible than a beat-em-up and a bit more fighting-based, but combos and special techniques definitely need to be easy to set up and use.
-SegaSonic roster. Setting aside all biases or other logic, they just work better for gameplay purposes.
-Simple, but interesting story. Story is something that's pretty much impossible to escape in Sonic games (for better or worse,) so the game would need some simple storyline. It would have to be very quick so as to keep time spent waiting between matches minimal, and also would need to justify the heroic characters all fighting each other. Also, since this is a spinoff title, it's a very good time to use a secondary villain. Example: Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll use Shadow Android technology to create bad copies of the heroes and wreak havoc, ala Man of the Year. It's quick, painless, fun and can be used to justify a LOT of characters beating each other up.
-Playable Roster. Every fighting game has at least one golden standard of quality, and that is the character roster. Assuming we want a large cast and a good selection of unlockables, let's see who would be playable.
*Right from the start we'd need Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. They're the big stars of the franchise, after all, and each one easily can make for a unique and interesting but still pretty familiar playstyle.
*Looking for more basic characters, let's see who became fan-favorites, or starred in their own title. Blaze the Cat, Silver the Hedgehog, Team Chaotix (see below,) Omega (if only for his undoubtedly heavy different playstyle and unique image) and Big the Cat as a gag character seem like good choices. Maybe Shade the Echidna, if you're stretching it.
*And of course, Sonic has his own share of baddies who can come on the team as well. Chaos 0, Fang/Nack the Weasel/Sniper, Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll, and Jet the Hawk seem like enough (although I'm somewhat hesitant to bring in that last one.)
This would give us an initial roster of 17 characters, with three possible clones. That's roughly a little more than SSBM's, so I'm happy with it.
-Unlockables. Not every character can be accessible right from the start, in any game. Some characters may not be considered good enough for the initial roster, or may be held back as a special treat for those who fulfill special goals. Who should be held in the secrets is tricky, but I think these may work.
*Amy Rose, unlocked after beating the game once. It's mostly just a Jigglypuff joke, but having a character so easily accessible and unlocked is nice for those who may not be good at the game.
*Dr. Eggman, unlocked after beating the game five times, or going through Sonic's, Tails' and Knuckles story/arcade modes. As such a major character in the game, there's no way this guy couldn't be playable! But with an inevitably strange playstyle, and a large presence, he fits in much better unlocked later in. He's harder to obtain than Amy Rose, for a feeling of accomplishment, but not so hard to keep most players from obtaining such a major and popular character.
*Rouge the Bat, unlocked with Shadow. Okay, so why include Omega as initial but shunt Rouge off to an unlockable slot? Well, frankly, she doesn't have enough presence for the basic character list. While Rouge is certainly a more popular character than some, her playstyle would undoubtedly be pretty bland compared to others, and she mostly only works off of other characters instead of showing off on her own. She's good enough to be in the game, for sure, but this seems the best way to go about it.
*Cream the Rabbit, unlocked with Amy. Again, while she does deserve her spot in the game, she doesn't really warrant a spot in the initial roster, unless you want to go for a character to appeal to the littler kids and girls right off the bat (actually, not such a bad idea...) She's cute and friendly, but mostly just plays off Amy Rose instead of standing on her own. As a sidekick character, it's only right she gets unlocked by her heroic model.
*Gemerl, unlocked with Cream the Rabbit. Frankly, Gemerl I believe would deserve a spot as an immediate playable character, but his position in canon greatly hurts him. His design is fairly standard, and he's only a tertiary character: other robots such as omega or Metal Sonic deserve the spot more. Still, he's cool, he's strong, and if we use his machinery abilities over his copy abilities can have a very interesting moveset. This little bunny finding her friend doesn't make for a bad story mode, either.
*Mecha Sonic, unlocked with Metal Sonic. Just a little bonus idea, but having a robot Sonic with the completely different moveset and weight of the Sonic 2 or S3&K model could be very fun.
*Special DiC/Archie cameo, Bunnie Rabbot. If any character both deserves and works in a cameo for this game, it's Bunnie. She can fly, stretch her arms, fire cannon blasts, and punch so hard it breaks robots in two! That's a set of powers just dying for a fighting game moveset.
-Stages. Okay, I'm terrible with stage design, but in general you'd probably want to do two things: represent the history of the franchise, and represent the characters within. A big question on many people's minds would be interactivity, between the static background images of Street Fighter and the hazards/moving pieces/platforms of something more like Power Stone or SSB. Sonic as a platformer, has always had the environments and hazards as an important piece of the game, so I'm going to say there'd be interaction on a big level (well, okay, on a tolerable level.) Emerald Hill Zone/Green Hill Zone would be an obvious mandatory stage, and would probably have the least hazards or moving pieces. Also required would be a Sky Sanctuary Zone, possibly with Egg Robo cameos and some high wind troubles. A Death Egg Zone is just mandatory. A scrolling stage based off of Night Chase in Sonic Riders would be nice, and would possibly be a better place for Jet the Hawk and the other Babylon Rogues, acting as stage hazards rather than fighting characters. Black Comet can represent Shadow, although obviously toned down with a Black Doom starfish eye just floating about. Station Square can act as a fight either right at the shore or on top of the rooftops, and also in the air would be either an Egg Carrier or Egg Fleet level. Apotos can represent Sonic Unleashed fairly well, and can have little cameos of Chip as the characters fight alongside the ocean with some Crabmeat obstacles. Sonic Colors actually could represent one of the harder stages, with Terminal Velocity and its falling floors, and speeding Motobugs. I love the imagery of Pumpkin Hill, maybe there could be some sort of bounce on the pumpkins there? Or maybe Security Hall... and Air Battery Zone! And Botanic Base, and definitely Casino Night Zone. Maybe Ice Cap Zone too... there's just way too many choices!
Geez, I was gonna talk about an idea of having the Chaotix as one character, with Vector as the main using a semi-Knuckles: Chaotix system mixed with Marvel vs Capcom assists, but I think even I'm getting weary of reading all this by now!

I thought of a story for Bunnie, where she could potentially aquire the tech to deroboticize herself and then, in Chun Li fashion, you get to choose wether she uses it or not. Leading to possible multiple endings for some characters, Like Nack choosing to collect a bounty on Sonic or Robotnik.

Characters:
Sonic = Fastest fighter, rapid punch/kick, Medium strength. More likely to slide off of a ledge.
Tails = Weaker fighter, but able to fly. Medium speed. Gets 1.5 times the effect from mechanical items.
Bunny = Strong fighter, medium speed. Can't jump very well.
Sally = Middle of the road. Not particularly strong or weak in any area.
Rotor = Strong fighter, slow, can't jump very well. Gets twice the effect out of mechanical items.
Ant = Weak fighter, average speed, super high jump. Has intrinsic 5% damage reduction.
Dulcy = Medium fighter, slow, can fly. Can use fire and ice attacks.
Lupe (unlockable) = Strong fighter, average speed and jumping. Gets an additional 5% from health restorers.
Rosy (unlockable) = Weak fighter, slow, short jumper. 10% damage reduction, 100% bonus from health restorers.
Uncle Chuck = Strong fighter, slow, short jumper. 30% damage reduction. 3 times the effect of mechanical items.
Sallybot (unlockable) = Strong fighter, medium speed and jumping. 20% damage reduction. Can fire laser from finger.
Muttski (unlockable) = Strong fighter, medium speed, low jumping. 40% damage reduction. Can turn mechanical items into projectiles.
Robotnik = Strong fighter, slow, medium jumper. 50% damage reduction. 1.5 times the effect of mechanical items.
Snively = Weak fighter, medium speed and jumping. 2 times the effect of mechanical items. 10% damage reduction.
SWAT Bot = Weak fighter, slow, short jumper. Takes 200% damage. Can fire lasers.
"Mechanical items" would be various stuff like guns/lasers, energy swords, and a few health restorers. And maybe some stuff that can summon area attacks.
Arenas would range from Knothole and Robotropolis to Ironlock, the desert, the swamp, underground, the Void, and that staircase from Blast To The Past.
Not particularly sure of all items. But, there should be guns, lasers, energy swords, sticks, rocks, power rings, bombs, and chainsaws. Health restores would probly be akin to medicines and healing devices, and chilidogs.
Projection: If Intruder Organsim reaches civilized areas...
Entire world population infected 2,7000 hours from first contact.
