Princess Luna is my favorite. I appreciate her design. If you haven't seen the Halloween episode, check into it.
I concur. I rather appreciated her new design.

I know right? She really is cool, and I love her Canterlot voice...even though I find it a little cheesy... or maybe that's not the right word I want. Haha...

In either case, they appear to have dumbed down that part of her for her few lines in the Finale.
Speaking of, I quite enjoyed that. A fitting end to Season 2.

Yes, I also enjoyed the finale. Hahaha...vampire ponies who suck the heart out of you!! Haha... Jokes aside, it was a cute love story with epic fighting from Twilight Sparkle.

I've been looking at this series because I've been considering adding this reality to the HOA reboot. Now...right at the end of the season finale, there was a brief scene that may have confirmed something I was planning.
At the actual wedding, we see a brief scene where I THINK we see Shining Armor and Twilight Sparkle's parents...and the mother, who was crying, seems VERY familiar. When I checked, sure enough...she seems to resemble Twilight, the G1 Pony that was used as the inspiration for Twilight Sparkle. This may make things interesting (and perhaps easier) for me since a potential plot I was going to use would involve having the G1 characters be the parents of the G4 characters.
Anyone know if this is the case...at least for this one character?

Actually, I have a question for any fans here...

I'm afraid I don't remember.
However, their parents did appear in a Season 1 episode, the one mainly spent told in flashbacks. Twilight's parents were shown during her own flashback.

Twilight's mother first appears in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" and the again at the wedding. she resembles generation 1 twilight sparkle because she is the original design for the character.

Twilight Sparkle's parents. Her mother resembles the original Twilight from the first generation ofMy Little Pony. Her father's cutie mark is similar to the original cutie mark in the "show bible".
Twilight's parents are first introduced in The Cutie Mark Chronicles. They are shown to be very supportive of their daughter's aspirations for magic, enrolling her in Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns and encouraging her to take the offer to become an apprectice to the princess. They are (briefly) shown again in A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2, where they attend the wedding of their eldest son Shining Armor.

Alright, so I mentioned before that I watched an episode of the show a year and change ago, and couldn't get into it. Since that time, several people I know have recommended the program to me. Of course, I shrugged it off for what I would imagine are the same reasons most people shrugged the show. Am I really going to like a show that descends from an abysmally shallow pedigree? Are they going to try and sell me more crap that I'd be embarrassed about picking up at Toys R Us on my own? I put it off for awhile, until some more people began encouraging me, and then the furries jumped in...
Two weeks ago, I finally bit the bullet and started watching the first episode. Now, people who know me are aware that I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some Watership Down way more than I should. I knew when the opening "storybook" sequence started, I was going to be treated to a similar sweeping world much as is presented in the film. The pilot had such a grand atmosphere and scale that established the working of Equestra, which succeeded in pulling me in just as the mythology of El-Ahrairah set the tone that lulled me in to WSD.
Coupling nicely with the elegant lore, I found the animation and art style to be immediately endearing. The first images of Ponyville, with it's half timbered Tutor architecture spliced with gingerbread houses, captured my imagination early on. As more of the world was revealed, the "Hansel and Gretel" imagery consistently asserted itself, but was always merged with other architecture styles for surprisingly impressive results. Even the natural settings had a unique appearance that offered a spooky contrast with the "civilized medieval" feel of Ponyville.
Critics of MLP have continued to assert that it is a show targeted at young girls, and in some respects, they are correct. But the more I watched, I realized that there is a distinct quality that separates MLP from the other cartoons that have dragged down the entire genre of pre-teen female media. WRITING, WRITING, WRITING.
Many of the creators have stated publicly that they were "surprised" at the male following MLP has generated. I am more inclined to believe that the producers knew exactly what they were doing, and were aiming to garner as large an audience as possible. They were taking on a franchise that had been dying a slow death for about 20 years, and I would imagine they weren't about to make the same mistakes that had killed previous incarnations.
While the mythology and the world had drawn me into watching MLP, it was the comedy that kept me coming back, which it delivers at great scope and scale. The slapstick routines frequently approach Loony Toons quality. The voice work of the 4 female leads compliment the writing and animation brilliantly. As significant as these elements are to the success of the show, they pale in comparison to the quality of the script, which must be said, contains some of the best lines, running gags, and comedic plots I've heard or seen in years.
The main cast of characters, and the writing behind them, give the show it's marks of distinction. Much of the comedy revolving around the antics of the "mane six" as they were pitted against their villains, weaknesses, and each other made for some clever stories, and I had a great deal of fun watching many of them. One of the main reasons I think people like these characters so much is because we can relate to them ourselves. All their strengths and weaknesses exist in our world just as commonly as they do in Equestria, and are dealt with accordingly. If I was asked to name which character I thought to be "best pony," I swear I couldn't do so honestly.
I could keep going on about the merits of MLP, but unfortunately, I do have to bring up one weakness I found. While the majority of the episodes are of above average or excellent stock, the quality can occasionally be inconsistent, particularly at the beginning of each season. Sometimes it felt like the producers were reaching into the recycle bin to rehash cliche plot lines that we've all heard about a billion times in our childhood moral upbringings. Luckily, these episodes aren't too numerous, but are constant enough to be jarring, especially after a particularly fun or exciting episode. Hopefully this will become less of an issue as the series progresses, which I have a feeling it will.
In conclusion, I should reiterate my apology for prejudging the series to be ill conceived from the start. Gentle prodding over the course of a year lead me to give it a fair chance. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did, but I have never been more glad to be proven wrong. Two weeks ago, I sat down on a lazy afternoon and watched the pilot. Two hours ago, I finished watching "A Canterlot Wedding" in a slightly depressed state, on account of not being sure how I'm going to wait for new episodes. I should mention my unwillingness to call myself a "brony" given how much the word itself grates on me personally. While I see absolutely nothing at all wrong with people who call themselves "brony," I must be honest with myself. Having seen the fan community at a broad glance, there is some great content out there that they have come up with, however, I get the impression that a lot of people take this show really seriously to the nth degree, which I'm not capable of doing. I enjoy the show for the fun that it is, and will treat it as seriously as it treats itself most of the time (not too much as long as Pinkie is around)> =

At the very least they shouldn't have announced their plan.
Understanding what makes shows like FiM work and trying to replicate it again is one thing.
How they're going about this is a bit different than that, however.

Hahahaha, no shit really?I wanted to let you know that this was an unapproved and unsanctioned pitch by our PR agency that we are completely taken aback by. Both The Hub TV Network nor American Greetings Properties had any knowledge of the pitch angle.
