My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

At first I thought reviving the series was a stupid idea and the first time I ever saw it I noticed how terrible the art was and how cheap the animation was... My reaction was actually "The hell is that crap. Give me the original:
"
But then a friend showed me this:
and this:
and I decided to give it a try.
Yeah the art and animation is cheap but tbh, it's a really good show. It's not as kiddy as the original. It's something the family can enjoy. It doesn't have as much magicy mythical stuff as the original, but it's not as all srs as that My Little Pony Tales show...
It's good. It's cute. It made me smile. I like it... and I was just wondering if anyone here has tried it out.
I just wanted to tell you that the hardest thing I've faced
Wasn't the teasing or the pain
It was convincing myself I wasn't stupid, strange, or lame
And helping others do the same.

Oh yes and the presence of Voodoo/Witchdoctor Zebra character is pure win.
I suggested this series to my 8 year old sister and she absolutely loves Twilight Sparkle and Princess Luna/Selena

I remember the old series... it was so girly, it was practically insulting... And I thought this would be no different.
I was wrong.
Yeah, sure. Their pony's and their sharing friendship and all the usually cutesy crap, but it's not over done to the point of madness. Actually, I'm surprised how... not overly cutesy and fluffy it is. The characters have actually problems and must face their own challenges and each one of them has their own personality so the viewer can tell them apart by the way they speak or act rather than what color they are or what tattoo they have planted on their ass.
And Nique, I disagree... I really love the art direction and animation
I never watched the original because... well, I'm a dude and I would have had my ass laughed out of grade school. Now... I really want to check this series out... and it's just so awkward hearing myself say that
I have a theory why this show is as good as it is... Just have a look at who's in charge of the series. Lauren Faust, who had a hand in developing Cartoon Networks Power Puff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.
Kids will love it.

Believe me, John, it's worth the dive for "Friendship is Magic". As a card-carrying brony, I humbly advocate that this show is fun, funny, and, much like SatAM, derives a lot of its power from a great cast of characters and the wide variety of relatinonships between them. It IS still a kid's show aimed at girls, of course, but if you adjust your expectations accordingly, I think you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised.

I don't think the animation is cheap at all, it's very smooth and colourful.
(and that winter song is damn catchy!)

Nope. Just FUS and Outpost 31. I used to hang around Game FAQs, but my lack of access to newer gaming systems means that most of anything I had to discuss there is long since dead... I'm not a rabid Transformers or GI Joe fan. It's more along the lines that they're currently the best thing on the air at their particular time slot. I'll totally ditch them if there's something good on around that time. Especially now that Dish Network has seen fit to increase the number of movie channels I get for a while...
