Yeah but that doesn't mean when your freaking out you don't run head first through them.
This Should be a video game: The Player Character Awakens on mobius as the ever so popular amnesia-hero, not remebering their past. They are quickly discovered by the freedom fighters with whome they team up with to take down Robotnik and try uncover the player's mysterious past. (You would design your mobian Similarly to KotoR or Mass Effect).
A: That's why you don't freak out. Generally speaking, the first rule of survival in general is "stay calm". Especially so in an unfamiliar situation. I suggest you demand a refund from whoever was supposed to teach you these things by now... Besides, you might end up needing to take some time to be able to properly control the new body, depending on just how smooth the transition is. You may not even be able to walk or run, until you get your bearings.
B: Eh. I think it'd be more fun to have more of an open-ended game that'd make the whole trust thing part of the gameplay, and allow people to make bad choices and end up roboticized or dead. Also, get rid of the amnesia angle. There's a Neverwinter Nights module that has a similar premise, with the inclusion of NPCs acting like you're crazy if you try and claim to not be of their world or try telling them about Earth. So, having your memory intact could be a nifty game aspect.

The first thing I would do, as soon as I was conscience enough to identify an issue, and sit up, but not stand up. Look at my hands, then follow them to my arms. Then, look at my legs. Probably put my hands on my head to see if it was real. At that time, I Would stand up, fall down, then try to stand up again, doing my best to brace myself, then go to a mirror and take a look. What would I be? Touch question, but my persona has always been that of a dragon, so I guess I would be a dragon. (And no, NOT in any way related to Dulcy. She was what she was, but other than that, no relation whatsoever.) I just hope I have the ability to breath fire. But moving on. I would look in the mirror, then start walking around to explore my surroundings. Where did I wake up, or would I even have access to a mirror? Good questions indeed. Of course, being the calm nature of myself, I would start to look around for some signs of life, and along the way assess what my tools are to use. I am sure either I will wind up bumping into a SWATbot and be captured/roboticized, or meet up with a freedom fighter. Of course, I wouldn't say a whole lot, but I would need to come up with something. I am usually good at making up stuff on the spot, so it can't be that hard. Become friends and help them with their plans to eliminate the enemies and rebuild the world.
What would really likely happen:
The first thing I would do, as soon as I was conscience enough to identify an issue, and sit up, but not stand up. Look at my hands, then follow them to my arms. Then I would start to panic at the fact that I am COMPLETELY different. I would stand up and start to scream, as I am beginning to panic over my sudden transformation. I would trip and fall on my face. A SWATbot would likely hear me, capture me and roboticize me, or a freedom fighter would hear me, come to investigate, and see a dragon on the verge of insanity, as I start shouting "WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO ME?! WHERE AM I?!" ultimately leading to me passing out due to increase oxygen invoked by hyperventilating. Once I come to, then I can fall back on my previous experience, stand up, and walk around. Then I would try to breath fire and fly, just to see if I could. Once that became a mastered skill, I would probably end up looking for life to see where and what I am, making up some crazed story as to not sound like a lunatic. If I met up with knothole, I would likely remain under the radar until I became familiar with my surroundings. Then, start to interact with the characters. In time, I would make a few passes to Sally, then when she finally tells me to leave her alone, probably try to make a pass on Bunny. Then, when SHE tells me to leave her alone, I would probably end up feeling left out (for being a complete moron) and go fight Robotnik on my own, leading to me being roboticized. Or, I meet up with Robotnik, and try to befriend him to break him apart from the inside, but be a moron about it and get caught, then being roboticized.
Not a good ending.
So yeah, this is probably what I would do. I would like to think the first, but I mean, how do you really know what you would do? Seriously?

As I said before, the transition would likely be smoother for those of us not satisfied with our own lives and/or bodies. Those of us perfectly willing to become something other than human would have little or no problem with the fact that we were no longer human. Those more tied to their bodies would tend to freak out. See also Robocop II, where they had problems with the willing participants being too tied to their bodies and going crazy and killing themselves in their cyborg bodies. Also, possibly one of the guys from The Thing burning himself to avoid assimilation.
Initially, I might think that I'm dreaming, as I've had many a dream about being non-human. After being unable to do stuff like make the nearest object melt and form into a statue of myself, I'd figure out that it probly isn't a dream, and to go on to make sure I have control over the body and see if I have any new abilities. Then, find cover (if applicable) and observe my surroundings to try and figure out what the safest areas are. In the woods, it'd be getting deeper into them, but avoiding strange plants. In Robotropolis, it'd be hiding out in an abandoned building, and then going underground. Exactly what stuff came with me (if anything) would also have an impact on my situation. If I have my tools or weapons, I can survive longer without needing to seek out the FFs... If I don't, then I'd need to try and find them before manage to die of starvation or dehydration. Locating the river could be a means of following it to Knothole, and a source of food and water. Though, I'd probly need something to boil or distill the water in... It'd at least be a better chance of survival from the food/water side of things. But, it could put me out in the open more... So, I likely would need to stick to the woods near the river as much as possible, and not hang around the banks longer than I have to...

Lazy... What happened to people actually answering questions???
Lol, I agree. Every time I ask my sister a question she always goes "Look it up" Even though she knows the answer. I can't get a human response anymore?

But I there is a link! The 'Looking up' was done.
But in all honesty I like it when people answer my questions instead of say "Look it up" or "hear read this". I'm just really bad at explaining things.

One of the main annoyances is that the answer is rarely easy to find in something like a link. Also, the person asking the question may only be after a simple one-sentence answer, instead of a complete breakdown/deconstruction of the subject in question. Though, links are marginally better than "look it up", giving someone a link an an answer still carries that "I'm too lazy to actually talk to you about this" connotation. Unless it's a picture that was being talked about, or the person asks for a link, a link is really a poor substitute for a simple real answer... "Look it up", on the other hand has a "I don't care if you ever find the answer" connotation.

Actually I thought it would be easier to get the information if you could do the research yourself than rather try to get it from someone who tries to interperate it to you. If the answer knows how to say it, it's good, if they don't it makes the asker even more confused.
That and it's the lazy way out.

LOL, did I say I was gonna try and be likable? Psh, I'd be like a walking sexual innuendo up in that bitch.
Amy: I wish there was some way I could get Sonic to love me.
Me: The trick is to relax the throat muscles and ignore the gag reflex.
god, it'd be funny if I get a really weird/disturbing response like "I tried that already" or "You think I have any problems with that?!"

A: What're you goinna do if you wind up not having powers at all?
B: The "big head/small body" thing wouldn't be a factor, as that's an art style. Real mobians would have properly proportioned heads/bodies.
C: You wouldn't be a cartoon character, so you're just as susceptible to death and injury as you were as a human.
D: Acting like a jerk may get you dropped off in Robotropolis without a ride back...
E: Non-SatAM characters may not exist there.

A. The only powers I mentioned having was Dashing, my Pistols don't count as a power, therefore, I can still be useful as a fighter
B. I'm pretty sure the Sonic cast has always been a little disproportional, plus my quote was "I'm not gonna settle for just being a cute furry animal with a big head and small body" so I wasn't factoring it into my answer, I was addressing the whole cast of Sonic as a whole and it was meant to be a joke
C. The Sonic Universe HAS proven to have cartoony physics at times but if thats the case, then okay then, I just have normal pistols that abide by whatever rules the Mobius Universe has for guns
D. I crack jokes at other people expense but you better believe if your a friend of mine then I always got your back, making the team see me as a worthy enough member to keep around even if I do piss them off at times, mostly I make them laugh though, they can tell I'm just trying to be funny. Plus even if I was a straight up jerk I don't think the FF would think about... you know... killing me.
E. Why? He said in Mobius. Even if it was in the SatAM cartoon universe the Archie comics tie into the cartoon so they would still exist even in that universe.
